Eight years ago today I completed my first real endeavor to B.net by stepping off of the Recon Train and into the forums. I’ve seen many events unfold here; the failed campaign of the Reach forum to try and pick shit with the Flood, the downfall of the New New Hotness, Achronos’ nuking of b.old, and the mass exodus of b.new. Beloved members have come and gone, but aren’t forgotten. The likes of A 3 Legged Goat and Officer Nasty will always live on in memory.
This site is but a hollow shell of its former self, but I’ll probably still be around to see a decade.
Always remember: ”Stosh’s Mom is a very classy lady.”

The old Floodian is still here. 👍

We should ban all the old people

Props to you to stick with something, despite the change it’s gone though. To say it’s a shell is an understatement, anywhere outside off topic, gaming, and lore is a shit-show. I’ve seen people bitch and bitch about D1 crucible ever since it’s release, and while I agree a lot of criticism was necessary, now all the D2 critics are treating D1 like the peak of gaming, some grand masterpiece. Begging for balance, year after year, and when they finally get it, it’s now “boring”. This isn’t the destiny forum, so I’ll leave it at saying that while it has always been this way, just so much more apparent now, and part of it is the lower rating, and hardcore fan base. Not hardcore in the sense extreme Halo fans were, just more toxic, and being honest, the gaming industry as a whole has generally increased in toxicity. TL;DR Children and general toxicity of gaming industry as a whole is on the rise.

Edited by unknownuserh: 10/11/2017 8:59:44 PMI feel if bungie made another rated M game perhaps the community would be more quality than what it is now Rated T for teens really attracts a lot of kiddos I wish I used my account earlier and not just to get blue flames lol

Edited by Mr Underhill: 10/11/2017 12:34:37 PM#RememberBungie.old Remember people saying their accounts were 10 years old back in 2010 when I joined. Wonder if any are still lurking now, their accounts would be ancient. Wish we still had title bars, I think I'd be mythic by now.

You are no longer talking to peers. Enjoy educating their kids.

Idk much about old bnet I did come as a random online guest to see what was on during the halo 3 days meaning I didnt make an account but looking at the destiny forums its like middle.school there with nothing but salt and a toxic community that has failed itself compared to halo, I remember playing halo and the community was far less toxic than what we have now
-
I just hope Bungie returns to its former glory days and attempts world domination. I want them to make their next game already. Destiny leaves me a little cold.

If only this place had stayed the same since about 2013, that would have been acceptable.
-
What was your life like then compared to now?
-
woah so you are like an og and stuff how was the Golden Age?
-
No one even blames stosh anymore. Since you’re at your eight year mark, it is required that you abandon the mains and also abandon all hope.
-
I'm glad to see you're still here, Tucker.

Edited by Specter Wolf: 10/10/2017 6:57:23 PMAs someone's who seen a decade come and go, I agree that the biggest contribution to the faltering of this community is the redesign to the forums and the relaxing of certain rules (mainly the ones banning the discussion of politics and religion from the mains). I honestly championed for a change, mainly one that would allow tagging of posts to give some air of self moderation, but I feel like true to form, things were taken too far. I miss the classic design and layout of the forums. Edit: Also what happened to a true community/septagon forum? The "community" forum just seems to be people looking for Fireteams and Clans. Which reminds me, the "New New Hotness" totally stripped the personality from the forums. No septagon, no Flood. It's just "community" and "offtopic". I understand The Flood was seated in Halo, but they could have at least gone with "The Hive". Anyway, I regret pushing for a change.
