This mission begins with a cutscene.
You fly towards The Grand Leviathan. It is now in the out regions of our solar system, consuming some indiscriminate asteroid near Uranus. You land in The Leviathan's main area. Two Psions lead you silently to the Throne room.
You approach the Emperor (or one of his many copies) as he reclines back drinking wine. The psions move to two columns near you and stand silently. He takes a moment to acknowledge you, when he finally sees you, he throws down his goblet and laughs heartedly.
You and your Ghost look at one another worryingly.
Calus: "It is good to see you dear friend! Have you come to wage glorious battle?"
Ghost: "Um... no... your highness. We have come-"
Calus: "You have come to indulge!"
He claps and several servants run out carrying all weird assortments of food.
Ghost: "I would love to but we don't really have the time. We-"
Calus: "Than right to desert! I implore you."
He claps again and the servants run back to their unseen stations while new ones run carrying even more food than previously.
Ghost: "We appreciate the thought but we really came here to ask a question about a race you may have met before. The Bloom?"
Calus sits up in his chair, somewhat visually displeased.
Calus: "The Ufiliuum are a parasite upon wolds. More lush and bountiful worlds have been ruined by that infestation than have been consumed by my Grand Leviathan!"
Ghost: "What do you mean? And why did Ghaul destroy their homeworld?"
Calus winces at the word "Ghaul".
Calus: "That traitor has wronged my people in innumerable ways, however his attempted wholesale eradication of those disgusting beasts was warranted. They don't lust for war like him or happiness like me. They lust for offspring. And you are simply in their way."
Ghost: "So how can we stop them?"
Calus breaks into a hardy laugh
Calus: "You don't! The Bloom has been around since before my great Cabal! If I cannot end them, neither can you and your Light."
Ghost: "Than how do we get rid of them? Stop them from spreading to Earth?"
Calus: "I could destroy your star? Its dust would make great seasoning!"
Ghost: "Any other options?"
Calus: "Convince The Bloom that your world is not worth their effort. Which will be hard to do! Your system is a crowned jewel of natural potential."
Ghost: "Thank you, Emperor Calus. We are grateful for your help."
Calus: "I will not stay in this system for long. This may be our last parting. It doesn't have to be. I promise you the world. All I ask is your allegiance."
Ghost: "We'll... sit on it. Thank you."
The scene ends.
You are flying in hyperdrive to a location.
Lake: "It seems as punishment for blowing my cover and flooding a third of the Arcology, Zavala is having me oversee you run errands for the Vanguard while Ikora nerds about with Asher. Could be worse. As for those errands, a Bloom Tripe got through the barricade. They couldn't risk breaking the barricade to follow it, so here you are. It's trajectory had it going for Neptune's moon, Triton.
Ghost: "Triton was a Warmind weapon's testing site. During the Golden Age it was entirely off limits to all but the highest in the Clovis Bray corporation. It has also been a no fly zone for the Vanguard out of the fear that some of these defenses may still be active. Let's try not to die."
You fly in. You land on sand, the sky is a light magenta and orange like thiswith the huge looming visage of Neptune penetrating the skybox. There is clear greenish water almost all around you. The planet is covered in deep blue green vegetation, mostly low shrubbery with a few strangely contorted trees with huge leaves dotted across. The ground is sand, pretty common to that of Earth. To call it a beach moon would be putting it likely. Streams, lakes, rivers, creeks, etc. cover the landscape and cut cross the sand hills.
Ghost: "The Traveler never terraformed this moon and there are no scans of Vex. Why is there any life here? This place is supposed to be one huge crater."
Lake: "Maybe some searching can help with our inquiries."
Ghost: "I am reading a Golden Age terminal nearby."
You are sent to a stream close to you. Swimming in it are strange elongated squid creatures without arms. They don't bother you but you can kill them. In the middle of the stream is a small terminal. You scan it.
Ghost: "The Warminds never used Triton as a weapons testing facility, it was used as a training ground for SIVA terraforming methods. It worked marvelously."
Lake: "How did they manage to do this without anyone noticing?"
Suddenly some Dregs come strolling over to the stream. They are not armed and are wearing cyan house colors. They see you and run away (if you don't manage to kill them first).
Ghost: "Unarmed Fallen? Why would-"
Lake: "Actually those Dregs had two arms. Most Fallen have four. It would be pretty funny to see a Fallen without arms."
Ghost (aggravated): "Ahem. Fallen without weapons? That is rare. There must be a settlement close to here. Let's see what we can find."
You are designated to follow upstream into denser forest.
Lake: "I wonder what the Fallen think of our invaders. They're probably happy. The Bloom distracts us and the Hive, gives them more room to scavenge."
You are now densely in a tropical rainforest of deep blues and greens. There is a small Fallen camp. Vandals sit by fire while a Captain is standing and talking to them. A Servitor is nearby, outside a tent. None of them are armed and all of them are wearing light blue garb.
Ghost: "Easy pickings."
You are designated to clear the area. These Fallen, without weapons, are easy to dispatch but they will defend the tent with veracity. Once you kill them, you are designated to check the tent they were protecting.
A cutscene begins.
You go into the tent. Inside is an Awoken woman cowering in the corner.
Ghost: "Are you alright?! What were the Fallen doing to you?"
The lady looks at you with spite in her eyes.
Awoken (disgusted): "Get away, monster."
She begins to stand.
Ghost (confused): "I'm sorry but, what? Why were the Fallen holding you prisoner?"
Awoken (angry): "Those Eliksni weren't holding me hostage you cretan. They were my friends. Any you killed them! They weren't even armed. You killed them in cold blood with no means to defend themselves."
Lake: "Oh she's a bug hugger! Means she's all lovey dovey with the scavengers."
Ghost: "I... I'm sorry."
Awoken: "Get out of my sight so help me..."
You begin to back up.
Ghost: "Okay. Okay."
You leave the tent and begin walking away, stepping over the bodies of those Eliksni you killed so mindlessly.
Lake: "We did her a favor anyways. Fallen are savages. Nothing more. Let her sulk. Anyways we don't have to deal with some woman's peaceful bullcrap. We have Bloom to find."
The scene ends and you are outside the camp. You can reenter it, and in the tent you can hear the woman sobbing. You are designated to follow up the stream. Along your way you will find more of those blue Fallen. You can kill them, or let them flee. When you reach the end of the stream, it opens up into a huge lake that feeds it. In the center of the lake is an island covered in Sclerolattice.
