I'm always going off on wild ideas. But more and more I'm starting to think the story of Destiny has some hardline themes familiar to Halo.
Take The Mantle of Responsibility.
If you are familiar with Halo Lore. Yada yada Forerunners yada yada we are all their children. All races of the universe at some point where created or populated by Forerunners.
Now Destiny has the whole Light and Dark theme.
I'm almost certain that all the races in Destiny evolved or became who they are because of their exposure to Light or Dark. The once human Exo's created by Bray eventually become the Vex. The Awoken are exactly humans who ventured to edges of space. The Hive are the opposite. Worm Gods who grew and evolved in Dark. Then you have the other planetary animals who evolved to be space explorers. Fallen and Cabal. To me I see these races as the many races of The Covenant.
And then there is the most similar plot line.
The Traveler and The Light has been searching the universe changing and advancing every race it touches. Looking for something to kill The Floo...Darkness.
The Traveler of Responsibility has also clearly chosen humanity to protect the universe. But those deemed unworthy like the Didact Ghaul will try to steal it from us.
Point blank: What if everything that is happening in Destiny is a test? The Vex always watching. Seem to have more of an eye of study upon us than actually trying to wipe us out. Maybe they are testing as well. To make sure we are strong enough for something in the future.
The Traveler waiting till the last moment to help us when it could have most likely had no problem blowing Ghaul's fleet apart as soon as it entered orbit. I believe The Traveler gave Ghaul a fare chance to hold The Mantle of Light. And he failed. It literally feels like we are constantly being tested to amp up our power level to see how much humanity can take. And it's not just a grind game mechanic. I think it might be a plot line as well.
Scarier yet. What if this is all a simulation on a Bray Golden age network.......
This is all most likely crazy ranting. But I just had to throw it out there.

The series is the bastard love child of Halo and Borderlands. 'Nuff said.
