It is better than Destiny 1 BUT since Destiny 1 was so bad; it set the bar for a Destiny game extremely low. Yeah Destiny 2 has a good story but that should be expected from Bungie.
The matchmaking is fun but when solo queuing you run into a lot of groups ruining that fun experience of a balanced game. If you got friends no problem, except you can't choose gametypes.
This ruins the matchmaking. I even end up just leaving because there's no point in fighting. I never do that in any game except Destiny 2.
The worlds are big and interesting but like Destiny 1 you can't fully explore the levels unless you did the missions for that section.
I personally haven't played the raid yet but what I've seen looks good. The Calvin or whatever has great animations. His claps looks so good. I wouldn't say it's better than VoG.
My big problem like in Destiny 1, is it doesn't take long to get to end game. The game hasn't been out for a month yet and people are already 305 with nothing to do.
I would suggest waiting for the 3rd expansion like the TTK and buy the game then. Yeah you'll be behind so what? PC is already behind. You'll have a better gaming experience with everything and play a fuller longer game.
TL;DR
Wait till TTK like expansion and buy the game.
