I can't be the only one who thinks getting a perfect roll or constantly trying to was one of the main aspects of the original and had us coming back for more? Now I see everything for what it really is.. reskinned and recolored with no real differences.
Levelling my guns to get a feel for them and unlocking the perks that felt signifcant were a huge part of the experience and without that it feels very empty.. It's kind of sad and since it is this way I don't see any 'U turn' coming any time soon on that route.
Edit: I'm definitely leaning more towards the randomization of perks or the addition of a way to customize the perks, and not the levelling of guns itself. It was something I felt needed brought up in relation to guns in the original.
-
We should be able to build perks as mods for the weapon. A "kinetic" mod isn't a mod... it's the ammunition used. Going into vanilla D1, I had thought that we really would have been able to craft our weapons. Was let down, but accepted the random rolls on the weapons. Now, I feel that once you run the raid a few times, you're already tired of the exploring world's, and PvP becomes stale... it's hard to keep interested because there isn't much weapon variety to spice things up. Different weapon builds on the same frame can have very different feelings. Many of the D2 weapons I find worthless. Only a handful are worth using, and almost everyone is using the same ones. 98% of people use the same weapon, is not because that one is amazing, it's because the rest aren't good enough and can't be made better with different rolls.
-
It doesnt need to be weapon rolls. The feeling people are missing are exclusivity in general. While yes unique rolls filled that void a bit, its not really a great model for this game. They need to bring strike exclusive type gear back and expand on it. Give me unique guns that arent apart of every loot pool in the game. Create rare lost sector armors and weapons, allow the vendors to sell an elusive gun for 1k tokens. Aside from the challenge, thats what makes the raid and trials appealing: they offer gear you cant obtain elsewhere. Give that treatment to every avenue in this game and an abundance of it
-
Yeah because there's nothing like getting that Shotgun you wanted then finding out it has no range due to wack perks. What you're saying is that you miss another layer of extra grinding.

Edited by haphazardlynamed: 9/26/2017 8:48:28 AMI'll be OK with static rolls on the condition that one of those rolls is: full-auto, firefly, scout rifle grunt birthday party! best thing about D1 as it is, all the static rolls are pretty boring because Bungie is afraid of making anything OP
-
I don’t know what about you but I still wait for the Uriel gift...

Edited by TheCyo: 9/26/2017 7:48:15 AMIt was a stupid idea. After 3 weeks you already wish they would just give you 3 shards and save you the trouble of dismantling the useless crap you get. The only thing left to do is getting shards and buy stuff from Xur on Friday. It is a pity.
-
Not for me. I feel like there are more viable weapons, which means I don't just look for one loadout and dismantle everything else.
-
as someone who never got lucky with loot i really appreciate that i only have to find the gun once to be on the same level as other people using it. the game is out for 3 weeks and if theres really nothing left to do for you guys its not the games fault. take your time completing games, dont rush everything and complain that theres no content.
-
At least there's no oh you only beat me because your gum has this that and the other perks on it compared to mine with only these perks on it, although I agree to some that's what keeps them playing but to me grinding the same strike for a chance of a primary that could possibly drop a gun isn't why I play , I'm glad there's only one version then I don't have to stay locked in one mode for hours upon end
-
Yup. I spent ages trying o get the right guns. That was pretty much the endgame for me in D1. In D2 I'll be max light probably this week and I'm not doing other characters aside from hunters so that's it. Pretty boring really, would have loved to find some unique rolls on some otherwise unused guns but with D2 we now have a set meta that forces you into one lane. I blame PvP personally.
-
I also notice i'm a bit less excited with the new guns. There isn't the gun i really want, as so many feel the same. However i wouldn't ever want to trade it back in for the old system. Endless grinding to never be lucky enough to get it. I don't consider those grinds actual fun. Having fun is my reason to game, and D1 had huge spells of time that just wasn't fun. Not once did i ever get one of those god rolls, even after playing many hundreds of hours. I really don't miss those days.
-
Nah, I don't have time to grind the exact same strike for days to get a perk that takes a gun from a C to an A...
-
Takes a bit of fun away, however getting shitty rolls is as annoying. But the exotics I've got so far have 0 options, while that's fair for everyone there is no customization in the game.

Edited by BlessTheMic863: 9/26/2017 10:04:12 AMWith Raid armor having no perks or stats and the weapons being the same roll every time it has eliminated the grind. It has eliminated most of the play time as well. Is there anything meaningful to do in D2 once you have completed the Raid and went Flawless in Trials? Why Raid when it’s fashion show armor and the weapons are ok at best? Why continue to play Trials once you have the energy weapon and heavy weapon you want because everyone is using Mida. Really poor decisions led to a hollow game that feels great, looks great, and sounds great, but there is not a damn thing to do. It’s like a crappier version of D1 Y1. At least we had cool guns then and our Guardians didn’t feel like wimps.

That was one of the worst things in the game... grinding crucible... 50 matches later "oh shit!... I got an Eyasluna!!! - aaaaaaaannnnd.... the perks are shit... " -deleted ... cos that was tons of fun... or how bout you want an imago loop... grind strikes for keys... get keys... play undying mind... titan seaweed bath towel, titan seaweed bath towel, titan seaweed bath towel... "oh shit!... imago loop, imago loop!!!.... with last resort and underdog and braced frame"... deleted. Hundreds of hours wasted on playing shit I didn't necessarily want to play only to not get the rewards I was after... I will never miss those days... I don't need Destiny to be the only game I play and I'm glad that when you finally get that thing you want in this game its as good as everyone else's

#mindlessgrinding please look else where
-
Agree
-
Getting the "god roll" would eventually be the standard. There's no need for rolls Everything is set like that for a reason. to balance the game
-
Yup. I can't see myself playing this game as much as Destiny 1. Grinding for weapons with amazing perks was one thing that kept me playing D1 for so long. But then they introduced weekly vendor rolls and that I didn't like. Why grind when you can just wait? Ehh..
-
Do people forget how many terrible perks we’re in d1 and how you would get those terrible ones 99% of the time? Lol
-
Yeah...a bunch of us expressed this concern as soon as they announced the removal of weapon rolls. The hope was that there would be so much weapon variety PLUS so many different kinds of mods that we'd arrive at basically the same end: A reason to grind. Luke Smith did say they had some sort of plan for how to make your eighth better Devils interesting… Hopefully we're not waiting too much longer, but it is still early days so we're trying to keep the faith!
-
I actually like not having to level them bc I felt it was kind of pointless and always had tons of motes but having static rolls has really hurt the replay ability for me. Same with farming strikes for unique gear. I agree with a another post saying they did the beginning and mid game well but end game just seems lacking.
-
No, I don't miss feeling like every gun I found was worthless Every time I finally got something I wanted, it invariably had guerilla warfare and/or surrounded God forbid I ever found an eyesluna with rifled barrel, outlaw, and cluster bombs, though
-
I do like the static rolls, only issue is constantly getting the same guns over and over and over. At least with RNG rolls they could be different and useful aside from a few extra shards.
-
Nah. Leveling guns was one of the most tedious parts of D1, and the grind was frustrating because it always seemed like everyone else had god rolls and would destroy with guns that I had worse rolls on and couldn't do shit with.
