I can't be the only one who thinks getting a perfect roll or constantly trying to was one of the main aspects of the original and had us coming back for more? Now I see everything for what it really is.. reskinned and recolored with no real differences.
Levelling my guns to get a feel for them and unlocking the perks that felt signifcant were a huge part of the experience and without that it feels very empty.. It's kind of sad and since it is this way I don't see any 'U turn' coming any time soon on that route.
Edit: I'm definitely leaning more towards the randomization of perks or the addition of a way to customize the perks, and not the levelling of guns itself. It was something I felt needed brought up in relation to guns in the original.

I think it's part of the plan to make Destiny more E-sport like. If everyone has access to the same equipment, luck is taken out of the equation, just as eliminating specials reduced intelligence and strategy. The trend seems to be about making it a contest of speed and precision.

Wasn't division all about them God rolls? What was it like 2 weeks until you had to use vector or just got destroyed. With the tedious 100+ rolls average before you got a decent roll. How do people enjoy that seriously it adds a little to the playability but it isn't fun while breaks the game for the majority. All God rolls do is make meta weapons which then kills any enjoyment for people who haven't played the game in the last month. There's better ways to add time to the content than putting in gun rolls.

I think a hybrid system might be the best way. Keep the static rolls on the guns that we have but introduce random rolls on guns from strikes, public events or unique enemies. That way the average player can have a decent gun and people who are hardcore (like me) can grind strikes or public events for god roll guns. Bungie could also govern which perks could roll on the random rolls to make sure that they're unique to the user but can't be overpowered when compared to fixed roll guns. Currently having nothing to chase is really hurting the game.

I don't have this problem, but I'm still bored as hell! I'm already like 288 or something and I ONLY play on the weekends. Not even a total of 10 days. Oh and it's not like I played all day either. Maybe like 7-10 hours at most each day. From 4:30 on Friday to around 4:30 on Sunday. AND IM STILL BORED AS HELL WHEN I PLAY.

I don't have the time or desire to be farming for a perfect roll. This change is something I love about this game. D1 to me felt impossible because I don't have the time to be running raids for days or farming for one great roll. The way D2 is appeals to average players like myself. It may not appeal to people who are real hardcore, but such people are, I'm sure, in the minority. All these comaints will fizzle out once more content rolls out and gives players that are real serious about it something to do.

Set rolls are way better screw all that randomness
