After several minutes of silence, the cargo bay of the carrier hissed as the hydraulics pushed it open. Logan raised his arms up to block the blinding light that washed in. Two titans spawned auto rifles and escorted Angel, Logan, and Nick onto the dock of the Vestian Outpost. An Awoken woman, wearing an eyepatch with the Queen's Wrath symbol, walked up to the Guardians. "What do we have here?" Petra Venj asked rhetorically; she had received the transmission minutes ago and had been expecting them.
"City vigilantes," a titaness said as she undone the prisoners' cuffs. "Got on Commander Zavala's bad side." The titans disappeared back into the hawk, and four royal guards walked the prisoners the rest of the way to the cell block.
Petra walked behind, reading off a list. "Four knives, one fusion rifle, one sidearm, one bird backpack, and one stripper pole..." Petra laughed. "I should warn you, the Prison of Elders is a... rough one; keep your 'moves' to yourself." The prisoners and their guards walked through a door before it shut, leaving Petra to wander elsewhere.
"Hey, Levante!" One of the guards shouted, waking a snoring Awoken. "We need passage." Without a word, the aged security guard stood up and slid her card key to open an airlock.
"Keep an eye out for Avilleon," the woman said before reclining back in her chair.
"Wait. Who's 'Avilleon'?" Logan asked as he spun to face the white haired Awoken.
All of the guards laughed sinisterly. "Your worst nightmare, boy."
One of the four guards shoved Logan's shoulder and forced him to keep walking. After about a minute of trudging through a narrow hallway of cells, the guards pushed the team into different rooms, then shut and locked the doors. Logan watched the Awoken walk away, then looked through the iron-barred window that peered into Angel's cell. A sense of hopelessness washed over both of them; Nick was too busy cursing the "blue faced apes" to notice or care.
Many hours later, someone pounded against the wall of Logan's cell. He jerked awake, then saw it was one of the guards. "Here's dinner," she said while sliding a plate through the gap in the door. Logan took the tray and sat down; it looked like a shriveled up potato and a bowl of--what he hoped was--grits. Before he could say anything, the guard had already moved down the hall.
"T'is is our t'anks for savin' t'e City?... Oi!" Nick exclaimed from two cells down.
"Well... We did hack into a secure Vanguard network..." Angel said as she sat in the shadow of her cell.
"Actually, that was Nicolas. No one else was involved," Merlin stated matter-of-factly. Logan scowled at him.
"...T'anks... Ya ungrateful flashlight..." Nick said with some agitation.
As time passed, the three Guardians shifted around their respective cells constantly. Angel found an old ball and began bouncing it off of the wall, Logan was re-reading old notes about the Light from his journal, and Nick continued to curse each individual Awoken in the Vestian Outpost. Eventually, they all grew so tired and bored they just laid down on their cots and tried to go to sleep; the cries of imprisoned Fallen made that difficult.
The next day, Logan woke up with a crick in his neck. He rubbed it and tried to sit up. Unfortunately, he was locked away in the Prison of Elders; it was not a bad dream as he hoped. He walked up to the cell gate and looked up and down the dark, quiet halls. There were a couple of Guardians--a titan in blue armor and a hunter in red--who were leaving a 'prison purge' session. "What are you in for?" The hunter asked.
"We hacked into the Vanguard crime tracker..." Logan said, slightly ashamed.
The two Guardians looked at each other. "You do realize your ghosts can sync with the City news feed anytime you want, right?..." The titan asked, not fully understanding what Logan meant.
"Yeah, but the news doesn't tell you everything..." the warlock replied. "Hey, what time is it?..."
"One in the afternoon," the titan answered. By this time, Angel and Nick stirred awake as well.
"Speaking of news, listen to this..." the hunter said while holding his ghost out. The ghost started playing a live news article.
"This morning, five people were found killed in a local park: a female Awoken Guardian, female Exo, male Exo Guardian, male human, and a female human. All of them were killed by large stabbings in their abdomens or blunt force to the skulls. The killer is now at large according to the Tower Vanguard..."
"T'at mus' be Daggr!" Nick shouted.
"We have to do something!" Angel said next.
Logan turned back to the Guardians. "Hey! You have to help us get out of here, break open the gates. The Tower, nor the Reef would have to know. We escaped on our own," Logan said to the two Guardians.
"I'm sorry, I don't think we can help you with that..." the hunter said before they backed away down the hall.
"Come on!" Logan slammed his fists against the gate of his cell. "You gotta help us!" But the two Guardians were out of earshot.
"Oi! Couple o' pansies! Unwilling to assist some convic's..." Nick griped.
"That's not helping," Alice said as she wrapped her black around Angel, who was now drawing her legs in and propping her head on top of her knees.
With his head against the rusty bars, Logan began to whimper some. People were dead--and more will be too--and once again, he felt responsible for all of it. Then, he heard more footsteps approaching.
Logan looked up to see a tall titan, wearing a steel and mustard yellow combat harness, standing in front of him. The titan held a massive shotgun, and an even larger sniper rifle was attached to his back. Overall, the titan was an ominous and intimidating being. "Uh... Hello?..." Logan said as he looked to the man staring down at him.

Does Eva Levante have Awoken relatives in the Reef? All in all, I think they got off easy. Most prisoners get freeze-dried in cryo-chambers. Bump!
