I think its a lot more engaging.[/quote] No one would force you to buy or use synths so you could still feel free to run your strikes with only the ammo on the ground. Just because some like to play a certain way doesn't mean all do and judging by the positive reaction to this thread it would seem a very large majority want ammo synths to be brought back.
