I finished the campaign this evening and really enjoyed it. Like most I find the shader system disappointing but I think the ability to mix and match colors on armor could be cool so I'm not to worried about it. My issues with the game all come down to lack of choice across the board.
No options in skill trees. For example All void warlocks will basically play the exact same.
No way to choose multiplayer match type? I get that it's for speed and that's fine. But why not have a quick play objective mode. And a quick play death match mode. Some times I just want to take out guardians with my friends and not play "king of the hill". If you're worried about not having enough players in the different game types, or having the PVP player base drop off ,maybe try to find a way to encourage players to keep coming back instead of forcing the players who are sticking with D2 into game modes they dislike.
No upgrading armor and weapons : grinding for crafting supplies, parts and xp was one of the few reasons for me and my clan to log in on the days between our raid night. Sometimes it got old yes but it still felt good to get those new raid boots to max level just in time to dive back in. Now there will be no point what so ever to log back in until the raid resets.
The biggest complaint by far, and I can't believe more people haven't mentioned this I can't choose what strike I want to do ?! That's insane and makes zero sense. You can say it's for speed all day long but when people get tired of playing a certain strike or need to farma specific strike for a drop they are going to just bail out leaving their fellow guardians stranded and force them to go it solo or screw some other person over by having them drop in half way into a strike when the matchmaking finally does add in some one.
To me, destiny 2 , while still fun ,reminds me of WOW Cataclysm expansion... simplified to the point of insulting.... and unless serious changes are made will lose its fan base quickly due to lack of options and poor and honesty lazy feeling design choices.
I played D1 from day one and all but the last expansion and felt it was a flawed but still enjoyable shooter. (The raids are some of the most memorable experiences in gaming to date. ) I'm disappointed to say I feel D2 is mostly a step backwards on a lot of the elements that made it unique and instead moves one step closer to being another COD game.
TL:DR
Give us back the options that have been standard in shooters for 10+ years and for the love of god give us back some Rpg elements in our RPG shooter.
