I SAY IT AGAIN.
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR D2's CAMPAIGN WILL BE SAID.
IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE THE CAMPAIGN, PLEASE DO.
Whew, with that out of the way, lets get started.
After we defeat Ghaul, and we retake the city, there is an after credits cutscene that plays. The light from the traveler, has been moving through space at exceptionally fast speeds.
Eventually it moves out of our solar system, only to hit something. Strange, dark Triangular ships start to light up, and for a full 4 seconds, we see them.

But what are these?
Well, I and many other lore theorists speculate that these ships...are the Darkness. Here is why.
Back in vanilla destiny, from the grimoire card "Darkness" there is a quote
Saint-14's Position argues that the Darkness was an invading armada, an alien force of incredible - but tangible - power. Some adherents believe that this armada sprang from species rejected or discarded by the Traveler for their sins.
But there's a second quote from the same card that describes these ships.
The Monist Position, or the Deflationary Position, considers the Darkness as a technologically sophisticated force, perhaps a post-Singularity intelligence. Adherents invoke information theory or contend that the universe is a simulation, allowing advanced intelligence to gain weakly acausal powers by bending the rules.
Sounds more like the vex doesn't it? But these ships prove otherwise. Highly technological, but at the same time, looking like a fleet.
Considering we've even had art for this goes a long way. We originally thought these were part of oryxs fleet, but we are wrong.
The last piece of evidence is the recurring theme of these shapes. Throughout the campaign, we see that light signified by a circle, and the darkness was a triangular shape.
Coincidence?
-blam!- no.
After we gain some allies, and finally end the red legion, we will be hit by a second collapse. A second wave of shadow.
A second apocalypse.
The Darkness comes for us. To end the light. To end us.

This seems awfully similar to my post about this. Nevertheless, this is a very well-written post.
