Logan conjured a Void portal for the team to jump through, but Angel decided to leap off the Tower and soar away. Logan and Nick, who were already in the militia warehouse, waited for Angel to appear, but she never did. "Did she--?" Nick started.
"I really hope not!" Logan exclaimed. The warlock pressed against his helmet. "Alice, please tell me she isn't--"
"She is," Alice replied over the radio.
"We gotta stop t'at gunship," Nick said matter-of-factly.
"We can't destroy it, not over the City. It'll get us in more trouble than we already are..." Logan replied.
"Not ovar t'e City..." Nick replied.
Logan hesitated, but eventually caught onto what Nick was implying. He held his hand to his helmet again. "Alice! Alice, get Angel to lead the ship to the Cosmodrome! We got a plan!" For a moment, there was no reply. Then, finally Logan could hear Alice repeat the instructions to Angel.
"How shall we conquer this beast?!" Merlin exclaimed as he spawned his wizard hat on.
"I guess blow it up..." Logan replied.
"Allow me," Nick said as he pulled out a fusion rifle.
Alice warned Angel of incoming fire from the ship, so the titaness banked to the left. The ship banked as well, keeping its sights on the Guardian. "Why is it chasing us?!" Angel screamed.
"Because a winged flight suit isn't registered with the Vanguard!" Alice shouted back. "Missiles!!" The ghost screamed. Angel looked back to see tracking missiles right behind her. Alice pointed the Guardian to a forest below, just outside of the Wall. Angel flew through the trees and listened to the explosions behind her.
Soon, another stream of bullets tore through the trees. Angel panicked as she weaved from left to right. Finally, she flew back up. "When is Logan coming?!" She asked.
"Just fly straight!" Alice declared.
Angel flew over many abandoned factories and highways that had collapsed into dry river-beds. Directly ahead of her, a Void portal opened up amidst a cloud. From it, Logan and Nick jumped out and onto the hawk ship as it passed underneath. The two crawled along the hull of the ship until they reached the cockpit. Logan peered in to see a battle frame piloting the aircraft. "Hello, Commander!" He yelled as he waved at the robot.
Nick broke the glass of the cockpit with the stock of his fusion rifle, then shot the frame with an arc blast that deactivated it and the ship. The hawk began to nose dive into an ocean, but Logan created a portal that opened on stable ground. After Alice told her that the ship waa defeated, Angel made a wide turn back and landed along with the other Guardians. They all turned and watched as the ship splashed down and sink into the ocean.
Meanwhile in the Tower, Commander Zavala, Cayde-6, and Ikora Rey watched the holographic recording of the event. "That was Mr. Mann," Zavala said with venom in his voice.
"I guess that makes the bird-person his girl that was with him yesterday..." Cayde stated.
"First, they intervene with City Guard business. Now, they take down one of our hawks!" Zavala marched away from the table and tried to control the arc energy jumping from finger to finger.
"They're doing no wrong. They're doing what's right... just how they see it," Cayde replied.
"She did lead that ship away from the City before destroying it; they want to defend the City," Ikora said to Zavala.
"Wait, I think it's 'protect the City'... They call themselves the Protectors..." Cayde said to Ikora, who merely smiled.
"This is serious, Cayde," Zavala said with a growl.
"Oh, so what are you gonna do? Arrest 'em in front of the citizens? Try that, and watch the chaos ensue... and make sure I get a good seat to watch. It's gonna be awesome," Cayde locked his hands behind his head and leaned back in his chair.
"As much as I... regret to say this, Cayde makes a good point. They will become the peoples' champions, if they are not already," Ikora stated.
"See, Zavala! If someone as... intellectual... as Ikora agrees with me, I must be right!" Cayde faced the warlock that was across the table from him. "Thank you."
"I regret it, nonetheless..." Ikora continued as she flipped through the pages of her book.
"That hurts, Ikora..." Cayde stated with a sarcastic tone.
Zavala walked to the window in the back of the chamber and stared out at the City. "I cannot argue that they mean well, but I also cannot stand by and allow random Guardians take authority into their own hands... What if Lysander gets wind of them?..."
"So what's your grand plan?" Cayde asked.
"We have to keep an eye on them... stop them if we must..." the Awoken titan replied.
"Well... Nice work," Angel said to the two Guardians.
"...That was Vanguard property..." Alice said with concern. Now that the excitement had died down, she was able to process everything that just happened. "We just destroyed a Vanguard ship... If we had any hopes of them liking us, it's on the bottom of the ocean with that ship..."
The three Guardians and two ghosts shared looks of concern with each other. Their actions were justified; that ship was attacking them, but that would not be easily believable. Everyone thought this, but no one spoke up. After a brief moment of awkward silence, Logan conjured a portal that opened up inside the warehouse. The team stepped through, and the portal closed behind them.

Awesome job folks.

While the men were deciding the best way to blow up crap, why didn't Angel cut in, "Logan! Just open up another portal so I can lickety-split back to where you guys are? I can fly through so we don't cause undue destruction and peril."

Wait, cayde was right?!
