Here is a link to show you how to make a pinhole projector. It is very simple and should only take about 10 minutes at the most to make. This is one of the safest ways to view it, other than watching a stream of it.
The real danger comes from staring at the sun past the small time window the eclipse is occurring. If you keep looking as the sun is revealed again, permanent damage can and will be done to your retinas.
Sunglasses do not work. Only certain eclipse glasses do, so one must be careful purchasing cheap imitations. Hasn't been confirmed if welding masks or goggles will suffice either. If you value your sight, be smart people.
