With For Honor being free to play this weekend I thought I'd try it out since I wanted to in the beginning but yet heard nothing but bad reviews on the servers.
So far the game really stands out and is actually a wonderful game to play. The biggest issue I've run into, people staying in a game. I started off with control. The mode was fun and our team was doing great, but as time went on my team went from 4, to 3, then 3 to 2, while the enemy team only lost 1 person. By about 3 minutes in the match, I get an unknown connection error, which is insanely weird since combat was fine and no one was lagging.
Now this isn't looking good, I've heard about the connection issues and bad servers for awhile, but I decide to give it another go. I waited 5 minutes to get into a skirmish, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt since it had medium activity. We get into the match and it's 4v3 with the other team getting a bot. We start playing, out team kills one guy, a guy on our team leaves. Next a guy on the enemy team leaves, then another on our team. Soon it's like 2v2 with 2v2 bots. Then, I get booted.
Now before you ask my NAT, it's open, so what's up here? Is this a common issue or should I give up on this free to play weekend and wait till they get dedicated servers?
Update:
After the free weekend of basically 72 hours, I was able to complete 2 matches and participate in 20 matches before being kicked for unknown connection errors. Honestly, that's bad. Imma go back to overwatch.

My buddy from the U.K. who made for honor a big part of his YouTube channel absolutely got depressed due to low playerbase and server bugs
-
I play against AI for the most part and even the AI ganks. That being said I don't think the game controls well enough for fighting more than one opponent. If it did however at least on the defense side it would be maneagable and not such an issue. The fact that you can't see the stance of an attack from someone who is not currently locked on and having to switch with a trigger pull before the attack happens to register the direction on screen is debilitating in its own right. The one on one fights are fun though.
-
If you haven't already, get used to being tag teamed. So few of the characters are tailored to facing multiple enemies at once, but once you really get in there and start wrecking fools its petty fun, of course server issues and ganking make or break it for some.
-
I normally play orochi or kensei, like everyone else
-
Is it still full of "muh honor!" whingebags?
-
Not sure what was going on, but that level of errors and disconnects is not normal, even for this game. Might just be due to the influx of people coming to try it.
-
I literally can't play the game on LAN cable which is annoying. I have to use wi for in order for it to get a NAT type identified
-
What you're describing only happened to me during the first couple months of the game. Now I can usually stay in matches when I'm playing on a reliable connection.
-
For Honor was a bigger scam than Destiny. Nuff said.
-
What platform did you play on? I usually play in Ps4, but took advantage of the free weekend to give it a go on PC and it was horrendous. Far less people playing on PC, and even worse connection issues than on consoles. How disappointing. It's worth noting however that the game is confirmed getting dedicated servers probably within the coming months. Should be a HUGE boon for the game, and with the release of the new characters today it will likely live to grow until those servers get here.
-
people who spam attack you and kick you off the edge 2 seconds into the match
-
The gameplay can be a lot of fun. I've just been a bit turned off by the whole "defensive meta".
-
The 4v4 game modes are the places with them most connection problems in my experience
-
Personally I hate that game, I don't even know why I'm playing it still. It's the only game where I've gotten genuinely angry and I'm not even having fun. Why am I doing this to myself?
-
I get disconnected from matches a few times Other than that the game is great, been having a lot of fun with lawbringer
-
Honestly, I couldn't even get past the tutorial...just did nothing for me
-
-
I played the beta only and didn't have any lag or major disconnects like you are describing. It's fun but I felt it got repetitive fast and with the lock on it doesn't let you use the environment all that much.
-
I never get errors so I think it's really fun. Might get repetitive and boring fast though.
-
I started playing during the free weekend and we saw quite a few connection errors during dominion. It would always happen right at the end too when you are about to get awarded and lose everything.
-
I usually don't have issues but mm times are long and disconnects are way to common. Thank god they are giving us dedicated servers soon.
-
-
I only really play Brawl, which with only four people, doesn't have as much server issues. It's bearable, anyway.
-
Just don't even bother till dedicated servers are added.
-
I tend to turn off matchmaking and play against bots, the boredom fighting bots is preferable to the frustration of getting booted every match.
-
This game is Is not fun anymore because of those random connection errors and -blam!- head players.
also how did u even find a skirmish match it will tend to kick me out of queue before I find the match
