Nerfed Subclass Tree for better PvP

I have played Destiny at every stage from Pre-Alpha all the way to Age of Triumph. Through all the nerfs and buffs to my favorite things. Not once have I complained. I do not like PvP and have only played it for the Platinum trophy or when my clan mates needed a meat shield. But with every single update/patch I have seen the staff I like changed because of the Crucible. Now as we are about to embark on Destiny 2 and I look at the way we ALL have been Pigeon Holed into 2 ways of playing. This has me asking was this nerf again because of PvP balancing? The removal of Special and Heavy slots is this also meant for a better experience for the Crucible Guardians? These things are things I currently feel will stop me from buying Destiny 2. This illustrates to me that despite the constant reminder from Bungie that there will be plenty of story/things to do in D2, I feel that priority will always be PvP balancing just as in Destiny. I hope I'm wrong cause I love this game and its community but this has me concerned that my experience is being compromised for the sack of PvP balance. Again. I maybe alone or in the minority but do hope Bungie takes the time to talk about their design choice.
