Sup everyone,
I had a question for people who live in USA, west coast. Next week i'll be in california for 9 days. I want to rent a car, but i don't really know the traffic in big american cities. So my queation is,is it hard to drive around in Las vegas, los angles and san diego. So basicslly could an outsider drive in thosr cities without problems?
PS.
I'm 19 years old and from europe, i have about 2 years of driving experience and about 1 month of driving experiene in America, Iowa.
Edit: for the people who are saying you have to be 24/25+. I have tbe chance to rent the car in someone elses name, so it won't be a problem i guss

Try no to drive from 7am-9am and from 5pm-7pm Those are traffic jam hours for Cali freeways.
-
Never been to those cities but I would imagine that you would have to deal with the same issues as any other city. Traffic congestion and the like. However, it should be noted that American city drivers can be complete selfish assholes on the road. If you see an open spot in the lane you need, do not hesitate to take it.

Get yourself a MAGA hat, big American Flag and play some Toby Keith or Kid Rock really loud. The West coast people love that.
-
Seattle is cool. Montana is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Those are my recomendations

Don't you have to be 24 to rent a car?

Personally, I think the east coast has the best roads/interstates but the worst drivers.

My advice, stay out of California. It's the Shitstain of America. ~ Making America Great Again ~

I just saw the world's largest tree in California. I would recommend stopping there.

Look up scenic drives. I live in Southern California, and as long as you can be patient and observant, you should be able to handle the traffic. If you drive PCH, it won't be exactly like it is on the movies, but it's still very nice and beautiful scenery during certain sections, and not so much at other parts. There will be times that it moves fast and times it stops dead. The image of a couple driving PCH from start to finish on a road trip where they are the only car on the road and have a view of the beach the whole time is not accurate. For city driving in LA and SD, I would reccomend getting a car with GPS if available. Type the location of your hotel and save it, then drive around exploring and getting lost. When you want to go back, just input your hotel address and you're good. There are places that will be pretty sketchy and I'd reccomend avoiding, but again, the movies exaggerate the concept of turning down a wrong street and then instantly getting shot. I'd recommend looking up areas to avoid. You'll get a decent idea of where not to go not just for safety reasons, but also based on what roads are broken, un-scenic, and just frustrating due to confusing throughways or traffic.

Be ready for traffic jams in LA. Don't drive in San Francisco, as the drivers are crazy to say the least. Be careful when driving in Las Vegas at night. That's the only advice I can give, as I've never driven in San Diego

Edited by Mad Max: 8/7/2017 4:06:14 AMWell LA is about 5-6 hours from Las Vegas, so it's not like it's just down the street. LA is about 2.5-3.5 [depending on traffic] hours north of San Diego, too. SoCal traffic is heavy and fast. Our freeways are 6-8 lanes in each direction, and if you're doing under 75mph you're going too slow. But most cities are easy to find your way around. LA has shitty public parking situations. Google Maps is your best friend. The best part about California driving is freeways, exits, and streets are usually very well marked.

All you see in Los Angeles is traffic jams.
-
Vegas isn't too bad except for the strip. I've actually ran over a car on the strip before. Los Angeles and San Diego have horrible traffic. IMO stay away from them. The coastal highway is kinda cool though.
-
Don't drive as fast as you can in Europe! Jeezus you peoples can drive fast. No autobahn here.
-
Traffic is okay, as long as you eat rush hour. Traffic is living hell during rush hour.
-
Just avoid driving in LA. The roads are shit, the highways are shit, the drivers are as loony as they can get.

I'm in SD. Be careful when driving. Some people like fast, others like to fly. Downtown is slow and has a lot of pedestrians through out the week, especially when it's baseball night. Don't give money to the homeless. In n out is the best fast food place to get food. There's a secret menu as well...

Im doing the east coast later and I somehow gotta learn how to drive on the wrong side.
-
From where I live, I should be a few-minutes drive to LA. But there's a bit of traffic so it takes about 2 hours.
-
Good luck! Also, don't make eye contact.
