What gender characters do you like to make?

MALE

107

FEMALE

44

I've heard things about how female players being hard to shoot because they are slimmer. I've also heard that's bull. What gender is your go to for video games?

  • Story games, I'd rather make a Mail. Multiplayer I go with female for smaller head boxes

  • If i can MAKE the character, male. If not, still male. I like relating to the character more than the aesthetic. The way SJWs are pushing female characters on us to progress their agendas make me never want to see or hear female game characters ever again. And this is coming from a guy who grew up playing and watching the Tomb Raider series, Metroid, and is a huge fan of Michelle Rodriguez and the Alien movies. Well written female characters are ok but the feminist trash we get now ruins the whole experience.

  • Depends. In single player RPG's I don't think I've ever made a female character. In games where you may create multiple characters with different classes (Diablo and Destiny for example) I'll have a more diverse roster of characters.

  • Male, and occasionally a female to accompany him.

Almost always female. It's more a habit than anything else, probably.
I will admit that I get a kick out of games with writing that assumes you picked a male and unintentionally turns many characters gay if you pick a female avatar, though.
• Your failure to include a "both" option amuses me.

  • Typically I play female, when I was younger I always noticed my inventory was full of less useless shit whenever I played as a female. It was probably due to me selling more stuff and enforcing superstition, but it just stuck with me since.

  • It really depends on the game.

  • It depends on the quality of the male model. Fallout has a really good one, dragon age has really bad male models. But funny you should mention females being harder to hit because Alex from gears of war judgement was effected by her gender and because if that her headshot spot was somewhere above her head vs everyone else's being the head exactly

  • Female. I just find female warriors/fighters/marines completely badass

  • If it's a game where you can completely customize your character, then I normally go for a female character.

    • In non mmorpg multiplayer games 100% male. In rpg games sometimes male, sometimes female. Example: all my destiny characters are males, while in skyrim most are male, others are female, mostly for the aesthetic of the build, just for the armor I'm gonna be using.

    • It depends on the game and what I feel the character should be and look like. I choose female for some, and male for the others.

    • I just about always choose a male first so I can relate to the character more, and then female characters as specific builds, like my horribly executed 10 Perception/10 Agility based gunslinger on Fallout. It really did not go well.

    • I usually go male first, and model them after myself. Future playthroughs tend to be things like cosplays & dressuos, where I choose whichever gender fits the theme better.

    • Depends on my playthrough really. If I want a better story I'd go female because usually a female has better voice acting or more emotion. But if want to relate to my character and feel like a badass I'll choose male.

    • Depends on the models. Games like dark souls it doesn't really matter, models are largely the same, and face can be altered enough that it's not a big deal. But some games, Destiny for instance, have ugly male models, and I found all the male faces to be kind of trash. It's probably a 70/30 female-to-male ratio for me.

    • It depends on the game and the character I'm going for. In turn based RPGs I typically chose male characters if there is even an option for choosing the gender of your character. In the Mass Effect Trilogy I always go female (better voice acting), and in more open world RPGs and shooters where gender choice is a thing it depends on what kind of character I'm going for (it doesn't matter so much in shooters, more so in RPGs).

    • Usually male, occasionally for games I'll make females. I like the way heavy armour in stuff like Destiny for the Titan and Dragon Age Inq. Warrior armour looks on them better than the male models
