Does a Guardian choose his own name after rebirth?
I've never been sure about this thing here. When a Guardian comes back in life, he remembers nothing about his own past. Always found this very intriguing but then... does a Guardian chose his own name after rebirth? Or does he remember it? I know that many Guardians have dreams about their past so, maybe, some of them could dream scenes of their past and ri-discover their names, but what for the others? And what about the Exos? Is the same thing for them?

I always was curious how a guardian becomes a certain character, there are obviously differences between the classes such as armour, all guardians can learn any subclass and get taught the subclasses so a Hunter can be a sunbreaker.

3 RepliesI have a theory about the names for our Guardians. Sadly, it's only for Hunters. When you are a Hunter, you are either called "Guardian" or "Hunter". What if when your Called "Hunter", they are calling you by your name and not your class. Basically, the Hunter characters name is Hunter.

3 RepliesPersonally, it makes more sense to me if they are able to remember their old name. When they are reborn, they know how to walk, and talk, they don't relearn these things. They already know. It is probably the same with a name; it is your identity, so it persists through death. Unless we forget who we are each time we die.

1 ReplyWell seeing as there are no Guardians named Terry, Mohamed, Alison, or Pedro, or any other common name, I'd wager that they might remember some aspect of their birth given name, but they pick their own name later on. Unless culture and names have changed drastically in the relatively short 300 year span of the golden age. Seriously, who would name their kid Shaxx? Or Felwinter?

3 RepliesHuh. Never thought about it. It's interesting because Exo names are usually a given name followed by a number. Like, Cayde-6 or Saint-14. This makes sense because these names almost resemble "model numbers" or versions. But if they were [i]revived[/i] as an exo, did they really choose those numbers as their modifiers? Maybe it was printed on their body somewhere?

17 RepliesThey know their names. In the grimoire it's shown that Guardians have dreams or visions about their past lives when they sleep or die. Its safe to assume that the name persists if those snippets remain. This is evident in the names of all Exos too. Even if their bodies were labeled with their name, they wouldn't know their number, which dictates how many times they had been wiped.

Edit: I get why we are called guardian, I just don't like when we are called lord guardian because it sounded weird and is just bad writing to be honest.

My guardian can't form a one-word response to a question dude, you think there's any type of thought process going on being that helmet? I imagine there's a Homer Simpson-esque scene playing out in his head at all times except the chimp's cymbals is replaced with endlessly firing double primaries.
