House of Scar, Ch. 20: Skull Captain

Hello, Im back. Sorry for the delay. If you missed the last chapter, you can find it here. If you want all of them, go to the Table of Contents. Enjoy! I saw these strange frames march closer to us, confused as to why they were here. This wasn't apart of my plan... and who was this Sun King? "He will be pleased to welcome tourists." The frame spoke again. I was no tourist... and why is he pleased? Great Machine, if this ruins my plans... "You should come inside... you're very much welcome." The frame was very friendly, but would I ever trust it? Hell, no. I spoke, "Why should we?" I moved forward with my SIVA-infused shrapnel in hand. Vesrik put his hand in front of me. "Now, now, Vrayth... that isn't necessary. They haven't tried anything yet." I hated that I couldn't do anything to them... they'll interfere with my plan. Vesrik couldn't know though... I had to keep my composure. They couldn't get the slightest hint of my dissent. "Who is your Sun King?" Vesrik asked. "You'll see when we get inside... come now." The frames lead us inside. This palace was very well kept despite being... well, abandoned by humans. We followed them inside, and it was absolutely stunning. The architecture was unparalleled, and the lighting complimented it nicely. This place was ancient... over a thousand years old. There were pillars that matched the place well, and were perfectly symmetrical. The paintings on the ceiling were also incredibly elaborate... I had never seen something like it. Be a shame if I have to destroy it along with Vesrik. "He is right around the hall... follow me." I said with clenched teeth. "We have been..." Eventually we came across a chair, turned away from us. It spoke English, but made an obvious eliksni clicking sound. "What... are you doing here...?" Vesrik speaks up. "We came to make a home in your palace... and I can hear the clicking in your tongue... who are you? A Devil?" "Hehe... you got it, you guessed it." The chair turns around, revealing a massive Eliksni cloaked in red, and the symbol painted on his mask. A massive sword was kept in a holster, as was a large pistol, and it wasn't the traditional shock. He stood up a good ten feet tall, and waved at us sarcastically. The entire crew got out their guns, including me. They weren't supposed to be here, and this... warrior... was definitely not a part of the plan. Vesrik held his sword threateningly. "I won't hesitate to kill you, Devil... you wouldn't be the first I killed..." "Haha... but I would be the strongest... behold… The Sun King!" He stepped out of his chair, and stumbled a bit, almost falling over. Then we saw the bottle in his bottom right hand... I laughed. "Oh my goodness... this is gonna be fun." Vesrik laughed as well. "Hehe... are you okay, Devil?" He stumbles a bit more. "I am the Sun King! Now give me your skulls!" He drew his blade, but was obviously unfit to fight. "Just tell us your name." He looks at me all prideful, and tries to stand up like a king. "I am Zor'vus..." He takes a drunken bow. "The Sun King... I own the palace." After that we all got the feeling that he wasn't quite a Devil... at least not anymore. "Vesrik, Kell of Scar... where is your crew, Zor'vus?" The hulking Devil looks down, obviously a little sad. "Not here… doesn’t matter. I’m not with Devils anymore…” Vesrik was a little surprised. "Well then... you're houseless? I can offer you to join the House of Scar... but as the Sun King, I'm suuuure you can take care of yourself..." Zor'vus runs and grabs Vesrik's cape as he turns around. "NO! Do you have any idea how boring this place is? After a while, not many people come by to offer their heads.” He lifts up his chair, revealing many human and eliksni skulls. "I can be a part of your house..." He kneels, oddly enough. "Now... is there anything you need right away?" He’s loyal for a drunk... Vesrik thinks for a second. “Not really… my soldiers are building a radio beacon on the Eiffel Tower here shortly. You can do that for us…” Zor’vus tilts his head. “That’s it? Damn… I hope I get some skulls out of this job…” I guess Zor'vus was the start of this new army... and he was quite a large warrior. No matter. They were no match for Skolas and Dredgen Rel. Their armies had reached the Elbe River, and they would march to Paris with ease. I just hope they slip passed the Devils with ease. A wonder how easily Zor’vus was swayed. Must either be desperate or up to something, although it’s probably the former. “Vesrik, is it such a good idea to recruit him?” I watch him stumble as he walked out with some crewmen. “Don’t be so cynical, Vrayth. A drunk can be trusted as long as they’re desperate, hehe.” “Hah, guess so, but still… you seem to hire anyone that comes along.” “As long as I’m sure I can kill them in an attempt on my life, I’m content.” So much for that. Oh, the irony of this, how easily he let me inside, so desperate he was. Hahaha! The jokes on him. I hope I get the satisfaction of cutting him open. Only a few get the pleasure of killing a kell. I’ll be fine with that kell being Vesrik, and maybe Skolas later down the line. “Just hope he doesn’t take your skull, hehe.” I chuckled a bit, and so did Vesrik.
