What can one say about the purple beach ball from the Tower? It has been there since the very beginning possibly since the alpha but definitely since the beta.
Once a plain purple beach ball until it was given a cosmetic upgrade in year two that made it go all glittery & glowey when you booped it. Many believed you could see the constellations swirl in its squidgy mauve depths & theorized it may contain its own little microcosm, like the galaxy on Orion's belt from Men in Black. Others suspected that it was a listening device placed there by a member of Prince Uldren Sov's spy network the Crows or that it WAS one of his Crows, some A.I. drone back when nobody knew if the legendary spy network consisted of humans, awoken or artificial life forms like the robotic frames that populate the Last City as vendors, janitors & postmasters. Or an agent of Oryx, stealing a little bit of our light with every boop. Some even thought it was a baby Servitor that was lulling us into a false sense of security for some nefarious purpose known only to the Fallen heirarchy.
Whatever the case it's been our companion for over 3 years. Watching from its spawn points beside Master Rahool's cryptarch stall, amidst the boxes by Berg 99-40's bounty tracking noticeboard & amidst the crates in the Travellers Walk area of the Tower which once hosted Lord Saladin & Petra Venj during the early Iron Banner events & the two Queen's Wrath events respectively. We've booped it from one end of the Tower to the other, over the ledge prompting many to suggest the bottom of the Tower is a mass of broken Guardian corpses & purple balls meters deep. We've jumped on it, balanced on it &, before Bungie fixed one of the most popular glitches in the game, even danced & run on it. It's been our little violet companion for over 36 months, silently watching as we got our first Gjallarhorn or our hundredth Crest of Alpha Lupi. Always there to welcome us home after a victorious or less than successful raid & always ready for a good booping be it day or night, in snow or whatever that glittery stuff in the air was during the second Festival of the Lost. Omnipresent, omniscient perhaps even omnipotent but always our little mulberry mate & our periwinkle pal. Rest in peace purple ball, you were too... good for this... world. *sobs uncontollably*

Goodbye purple ball, i'll never forget the day we booped you all the way down to the speaker and used you to push him down the stairs. It was magical.
