"Do you have a back door?" Logan asked as he turned to the old hunter.
"Aye..." Nick replied before pointing to a door in the kitchen.
Angel and Logan ran out to the street and looked around. People were screaming on the far side of the house, meaning one thing. Both Guardians ran around to see the monstrosity swing the pulse rifle, Red Death, like a bat, knocking an Awoken into a wall and shattering his skull like a porcelain vase. The body slid to the ground, leaving a streak of blood and brain matter down the wall.
"Hey, big guy!" Logan yelled as he threw a rock at the beast; he wasn't going to use a weapon in a densely populated area like this. The titan turned around and observed Angel and Logan, but trudged away instead. The parts of his armor that was actually armor, was a dark, sickening red; but it was hard to tell if that was the paint job, or just all of the coagulated blood from previous victims.
The two Guardians pushed through the crowd of people, who took it upon themselves to photograph the crime scene, and caught up to the titan. Angel jumped in the way of him and held her hands out. "Can you speak... Daggr?" She asked after reading the scratched out name plate.
"Yes..." the titan replied before throwing the titaness into some milk crates.
"Hey!" Logan shouted as he slapped the monster across his face with his bo-staff. The titan, Daggr, looked back at Logan, then punched him in the stomach. The warlock's legs came out from under him, causing him to face plant onto the ground.
By the time Angel and Logan had gotten situated, the titan had disappeared into the crowd; which was shocking since the titan easily stood a little more than a foot taller than everyone else. The two Guardians looked around, with little success. Where could he have gone?
"Ooh! Ooh! I found him!" Merlin exclaimed after scanning the City streets. "Placing markers now!"
The team of four--two Guardians, two ghosts--ran down the various streets, following the marker on their HUD's. The screams of terrified citizens also hinted where the killer was. The titaness and warlock squeezed between buildings and saw the human-Vex monstrosity raising his pulse rifle up to his eye.
Angel saw the person he seemed to be targeting, then ran to her. The titaness slid in front of the woman and deployed her weak ward of dawn; it only lasted long enough to absorb the stream of bullets, but that was long enough before it quickly vanished. Before the titan could fire again, Logan had ran up behind and tackled him.
Daggr threw Logan off of him, then lifted the warlock up by his throat. Logan gazed at the red Vex eye of the monster before being thrown through a window of a building. Angel ran up and punched Daggr in the side causing the titan to fall to a knee; but, he stood back up and backhanded Angel into a charter bus. The bus crunched inwards where the titaness hit.
Logan jumped on the titan's back and wrapped the staff around his throat. "Why are you killing innocent lives?!" He yelled as he held onto the titan like he was a vicious bull.
"Only the strong will survive..." The titan groaned before he flipped the warlock over him and dropped him to the ground. Logan looked up to see Daggr's boot about to come down on him, but he managed to catch the foot before it crushed his air-pipe. Logan tried to hold it off of him, but he was struggling.
Angel stepped out of the bus, but stumbled to the ground. Blood tripped from her mouth, and to the ground through the shattered visor of the Guardian's helmet. "Alice... distract him..." the titaness said as she used a car to support herself.
Alice flew over to Daggr and began flashing a bright light in his eyes, blinding him. The monstrous titan took a step back--allowing Logan to roll away--and swatted at the ghost. Angel and Logan helped each other limp into a building to attempt to regain their strength while the devil was occupied. Alice had transmatted herself to Angel so she wouldn't leave a trail for the titan to follow.
"I think we just pissed him off..." Logan said through gritted teeth as he held his stomach. Parts of his robes were tattered, and his helmet was damaged.
"I don't think we can do this..." Angel said as she began to tear up and pant.
Logan reached over and pulled Angel's helmet to his. "Aahhh!" The warlock screamed. A massive blade pierced the wall, Logan's stomach, and his hand. The blade, the warlock's coat, and the wall was now stained with the Guardian's blood.
Angel backed away from the wall as she began to cry more. "Logan!" She yelled. The blade retracted, allowing the warlock to slide down to the ground. He began gasping, and his helmet's mic made it more audible than it really was.
Angel stared at the door, waiting for Daggr to barge in; she raised her auto rifle and tried to keep her eyes clear of tears, ready to gun down the beast. The titan never came in. Instead, a stream of bullets burst through the wall and struck Angel's left shoulder. She spun to the ground and hid behind a table while placing a hand across the two entry wounds.
"Oi! T'is way, lass!" Nick shouted from a back door of the building the Guardians were in. Angel struggled to pick up Logan, who was struggling to stay alive himself, and the two stumbled out. Nicolas tossed down a smoke bomb that cloaked the three in invisibility, and they walked to safety.
"We... have... a base... not too far... from... here..." Logan said weakly as he winced from the pain.
"Fantastic. You ain't bleedin' on me furn'ture," Nick replied.
