So I've read all the reviews and opinions on the D2 Beta so far; I've spotted an interesting trend in the opinions from the ones that are saying it's great and are loving it.
All of these Bungie defenders have sub 5000 Grimoire, No "From the beginning" node unlocked on Y3 MoT and have 1000 Hours or less gameplay time.
You will say Grimoire doesn't mean shit, but it's an uncanny trend that I've spotted.
Any D1 Alpha/Beta Vets with 5500+ Grimoire and 3000 Hours logged have anything good to say about this D2 Beta?
I'm curious...

My favorite part of the beta is enjoying the new scenery. I'm glad I have time to take it all in since I'm always out of ammo and never have an ability at the ready.

Jesus. Play Titanfall. Isn't that what people do when they are pissed at Destiny? The answer?
It's never gonna be as good as you hope.
Play it or don't.

Edited by mpuchar: 7/19/2017 8:37:37 PMNot that it matters, but i'm one of those people you referred to in having max grimoire and 3k+ hours. Here is my take on the beta: People who are happy with the slow charge rate for supers and abilities seem to be forgetting something. This isn't CoD. This game takes place in a universe where "space magic" is real, supers and abilities should charge faster. If they want to, Bungie can create a game mode for people who want to play a primaries only PvP. No one plays Destiny to play a game based only around "gun skill". Also, the "power" weapons are unbelievably underpowered. Imo, Destiny has taken a turn for the worse. Ive ran every subclass, strike, story, PvP... im trying to convince myself to be optimistic and excited, but i keep feeling more and more disappointed

I'm a beta player and I have 5540 grim. I've played D1 religiously since day 1 up until about 2 weeks ago. (I guess all this D2 beta hype got to me. lol) I still do the weekly reset stuff but that's about it. So far I'm absolutely loving the changes to the game. The story part was a blast and the strike was pleasantly fun. But where I feel it surprisingly shines is PVP. The crucible is actually fun again. Not this Meta OP unbalanced crap that D1 crucible is right now. So needless to say I'm SUPER HYPED for D2 now!

Well I am a beta player with just about 1000 hours. Sorry low Grimore and not that manny MOT. If you look, you can see I've done a lot, but not everything. I think it's fun. The guns don't feel quite as powerful. But things to remember ... 1. Enemies are 210 light, not 200. So they are more powerful than you. 2. I don't think they have the gear stats unlocked. You can change the nodes, but it doesn't show up on the main character screen. 3. They didn't give you the best guns. Most of the guns (aside for exotics) seem to be average Vanguard type gear. Not terrible, but not great either. 4. With the new slot system, it will take time to determine what works for you. With out all of the weapon types, it's kind of hard to figure that out. I had some many times when I wanted to bust out my LMG. I think once we get some hands on time and learn the new in and outs, I will play it as much as vanilla. Haters are going to hate.

Pvp is fantastic. I can't even begin to explain how amazing it is that these turds can't rely on abilities, melees, grenades, supers, shotguns and snipers. I pity the fool that ends up on the other side of my Nergal lol

Edited by OLDSCRATCH4: 7/19/2017 10:56:01 PMYeah, me. Even with the issues, I still enjoyed it. Over 3k hours, 5590 grim. Edit, and D1 beta.

D1 TDB was my starting point, 5600 grimoire, plenty of hours in D1. Average PVP player 1.2 ish kd in D1 and have been to the lighthouse a handful of times and never been carried. I think the Beta is good but definitely has some things that either need work or I need to get used to. Movement speed is far different and requires more finesse, I don't know yet if I feel like it needs changing or I just need to work on when I am cutting my jump or using the in air movement abilities. The slower super charge and ability charge to me is welcome albeit a little slow but I still feel like I can use my abilities in appropriate situations which is fine for me. Gun play is good with certain weapons but definitely feel like the focus is on using the correct weapon in the correct scenario. E.g. People who spam sub machine guns from range are going to lose basically every time to someone running an auto rifle. My overall opinion is that the majority of people who played a lot of D1 have been spoiled, we had the best guns, best armor and could get away with using incorrect weapons in many scenarios because abilities made up for it. That's the biggest change I see. The beta for me is simply that, a test, I'm reserving all my judgments for once I play the finished version.

I want to like it I really do but I just feel, meh. Weapons are pretty bland, almost everything so far feels (and sounds) like a test weapon. Supers an abilities don't even exist. Bungie is literally snuffing out everything that made Destiny fun. It's not just the TTK, it just feels painfully slow an heavy. Even supers are underwhelming, not to mention the charge rate. You wait the entire game for ONE super and it's dull. Watching the nova bomb crawl in slow motion across the map comes to mind. An you know something's not right when even the BETA 1 day in has a meta. Seriously? I do like a lot of things on the PVE side but I still feel like the weapon system doesn't fit. I was fine doing the first half of the strike with two primaries, but the boss battle was just ............ ok let's chip him away with our lack luster primaires... wooo, look out more mobs! I can't help but think about the grind ahead of me an how much into D2 I'm going to get before I'm so over primaries I'm actually missing Destiny's current meta (Which I hate). Homecoming mission was excellent. I know it's just the beta but it feels like we are all underpowered clones of each other which makes it so much more bland. I feel like we went from complaining about meta and sweaties to everyone getting a participation award for being special Destiny snowflakes. Shutting down a OP super use to feel rewarding now they are so weak you get no rush at all. You can either easily run away or just shoot them to death. Oh hey an I love seeing 4 titan walls on a point, or shooting at a group of blinking warlocks standing in an aura. Meanwhile my Hunter twirls like a 4 year old ballerina 1 step to the right... to reload my own weapon. Nothing like being the supposed fastest class who brings nothing useful to the party. Yay. I'm trying, I want to give this whole lie.. I mean fresh D2 start a chance but I'm just not feeling the Destiny rush. I'm just gonna say it, I miss House of Wolves era Destiny.

I've got 5345 and 70 days in D1 since the beginning. I happen to like the changes and the feel of the game. It feels like it's an upgrade to me. Strike was exciting and the PVP felt balanced for a change.
-
Worried about fixed rolls on weapons drops lacking excitement. Worried about abilities charge and effectiveness. Worried about fixed subclass perk groups lacking diversity in builds. Worried about super play example arcstrider in pve seems good but in pvp it's lacking ability of speed to close gaps and be effective even once per match. Weapons and ammo need buff in both pve and pvp. Pvp power ammo pick up radius needs to be adjusted you have to be at the right angle to pick up and felt awkward.

Can't claim 5500+ grimoire or even 1000 hours, but I've been playing since the D1 Alpha and loved the journey that was Destiny 1. Given that it's a beta with 2 missions and 2 crucible maps, I think people need to chill the -blam!- out. Buuuut, I can say I that I love the change to PvP. Having to use actual gun skill and teamwork is a nice change from the ability spam of D1 crucible. I don't like the pacing of PvE, however. Abilities don't seem to do much at all, and the hard hitting weapons like snipers, fusions, etc don't have the punch they used to. Every moment feels like a grind to chip down an enemy's health. The mechanics have been stellar, tho.

Edited by Kaiser Wolfheart: 7/19/2017 7:50:15 PMI'm liking it so far! Though I have noticed, the primary pulse we can get, Night-something, is very powerful, even against scouts. On the other side we have the Better Devils, I don't know if it is this gun is particular weak, but it falls short against sub machine guns, which operate superb in close quarters and aggressive tactics. Edit: apparently I just need a little practice with the gun. It's actually good. I understand supers being slowly charging in PvP since they want more gun skill, but it also takes too much in PvE, it definitely needs some tweaking.

I'm a d1 beta veteran but took a huge break and I'm below 1000 hours and 5000 grimoire

Edited by Deadstar: 7/19/2017 8:05:38 PMIm a Year one vet. Played on xbox and now ps4 and i am enjoying the pvp in this beta a lot more than the ability spam on D1
-
Beta vet, low grimoire because i lost interest after the roi main missions and because grimoire (just like k/d) doesnt mean shit. Didnt play d2 beta, and from the numerous bitching posts, im glad i didnt.
-
Love the changes for PvP. Can definitely tell who is used to spamming abilities and who can actually gun fight. I like the 4v4, it makes the match a little more organized and less chaotic. I will miss 6v6 mayhem though. Sometimes chaos is fun and 4v4 will get boring after a while. PVE wise, I hope they will fix the ammo drops. Although it does force you to play smarter and aim better to conserve ammo. The supers so far are very slow to charge but I expect that will change with better gear and stat upgrades. Hand cannons feel great again for some reason. The bloom is certainly still there. But they feel good.
-
It's awesome I was dreading the crucible, but love it so far after a few games. And it'll only improve after the beta data is sorted out
-
I have 4500 grimoir because I don't collect ghosts and the PvE in the beta is actually pretty fun. I like the new guns a lot, but I still need to get a shotgun or sniper. As for the PvP, 4v4 in casual was a mistake and the fact that you can never get heavy ammo sucks.
-
PvE (ammo, supers, gun slots) still being held back by PvP.
-
I love the gameplay and the visuals. It feels refreshing to play.
-
i'm loving the beta gameplay. the new feel, imo, is perfect. only complaint thus far is lack of voice acting for my guardian...
-
I haven't got to play it yet, it looks fun though. I'll get back to this post once i've played it.
-
Hi. I really want to like it. But it is just a mess from what I've seen so far. The biggest thing I've noticed is the weapons and super set up is designed for pvp. Straight up vp with no thought given too pve. Fusion rifles in the heavy weapon place? Snipers? Clearly the moaning in pvp has influenced the way weapons work. The super takes far too long for pve. The first time I was able to use a Super was just after got into the tower, and then right at the end of homecoming. It feels very much like destiny, to the point if it was an expansion of destiny I wouldn't know the difference. Also, folk keep saying it's a sequel, fair enough. But it would have been nice to know where these new supers came from that we're about to lose. As someone who has been here since Alpha, I want to know about the game. So number of strikes. Missions, all that sort of stuff. I want to know how many weapons there are, armour sets etc. I want to know about the game before I decide whether I'll be buying it. As it stands now, based on the beta and what I know, it's not a buy for me.

Edited by ││█║▌│: 7/19/2017 4:53:06 PMI've noticed that people who have been doing something for such a long time have a hard time accepting change.

I didn't know people with over 5500 glimmer and veterans were now a hive mind who all had to have the same opinion...
