So I've read all the reviews and opinions on the D2 Beta so far; I've spotted an interesting trend in the opinions from the ones that are saying it's great and are loving it.
All of these Bungie defenders have sub 5000 Grimoire, No "From the beginning" node unlocked on Y3 MoT and have 1000 Hours or less gameplay time.
You will say Grimoire doesn't mean shit, but it's an uncanny trend that I've spotted.
Any D1 Alpha/Beta Vets with 5500+ Grimoire and 3000 Hours logged have anything good to say about this D2 Beta?
I'm curious...

Too easy

Not beta destiny 1 player, but started two weeks after launch. And i like it, in the back of my mind i know its beta. But still to many toxic people posting the forums

Edited by Broom: 7/20/2017 1:39:13 AManyone with over 3,000 hours played definitely needs some guidance in their life.. you can't spend that much of your time on one video game without some sort of mental problem.. whether its an obsession or maybe some sort of anxiety that prevents you from having a full time job or ya know.. a significant other..

I've played on 2 accounts, hazard127 and Undiiviidual. I started playing just when The Dark Below came out and I was hooked. I'd maybe be closer to 5000 if I had all of those wolf public event grimoire cards. If you want to go check me out, on my Year 1 account hazard127 I exclusively played on the hunter but maybe put like 4 days into the Titan. I shared this account with my brother but I made Undiiviidual and all of time was clocked by me. I love everything about the beta. Nuff said.

I have 5,540 Grimoire score and have been playing Destiny 1 since the beta. Gameplay feels good, though I would've liked it if we were given the chance to play around with the new Weapon Mods and Armor Mods. The new story mission and Strike are outstanding, though I wish we could replay the Homecoming mission more than once per character... hopefully we get to do that in the final release, since the opening mission for Destiny 1- "A Guardians Rises"- is still not replayable, and this opening mission is so much better than the first game. I absolutely love the new weapon system, as well as all the new Exotic weapons, though some of the power weapons- namely shotguns- feel like they need a serious buff in PvE, and the drop rate for Power Ammo needs to be increased. Control is still as fun as ever, but I feel it needs to go back to 6v6. Countdown feels way too long at 10-11 rounds, and the amount of time before you can be revived feels ridiculous.

It's something new. That's the main thing. While the D2 Beta doesn't have as much content as the D1 Beta did, the replay-ability of the strike is pretty good. There's some adjustments to be made for sure, but that's the purpose of a Beta.....to find and fix flaws by letting the player base have hands-on time with the game. I haven't put the PvP side of things through its paces just yet but that time will come soon enough. I for one am looking forward to the full release game and will be keeping my pre-order.

5100 Pvp feels good. I like the TTK, new game mode is great except the lack of a bomb timer. Beta has too little content. Pve feels like I expected it too, I feel weak relative to destiny 1 pve.

If you practised stretching you could put your head between your legs and worship your own ass instead of expecting everybody else to.

I've got 5k. Get off your high horse. It doesn't mean shit.

So you need 3000 hours to have an opinion?

To me I enjoy the pvp changes. No longer is it a ability spam fest, it feels like gun skill and team work matters. The only thing I can't see right now is, amazing plays ! I can't wait to see how the pros play in terms of going 3v1 or 4v1 with power ammo being an option and all the uncertainty. I think this beta is a fun play ground. Supers and abilities too slow in PVE though.
-
I wouldn't go off grimroir. I've been playing since the beginning, but can't be bothered to give a f*ck about grinding grimroir. Anyways, id say Pve took a massive hit, I liked snipers and shot guns being burst damage weapon to handle priority targets like knights wizards praerorians etc. But I think the change was awesome for PvP. Hopefully Bungie implements changes to make us feel like badass space wizards in pve. 4v4 is pretty good, but sometimes I Miss the chaos of 6v6. 4v4 has alot of team coordination, which sucks for a solo player. I wish pve kept the gun system form d1. Buff heavies so they out dps snipers, and or slow down sniper reload, let's be honest pve was awesome for alot of d1 and they should try as hard as possible to keep that feeling. I don't care if it plays different in PvP I'll adjust, but nobody wants wattered down pve. Anyways just a few thoughts take them as you like!

It plays like halo 5 pvp

I may not have the hours in D1 do to lack of replayability for me but I am a D1 beta and on player with a decent amount of grimoire. I have yet to play pvp in D2 but will tomorrow or tonight. The beta is fun, the new abilities and weapons are a good refresher from the old D1 ones but just give it time and I suppose that will die away. Overall it feels more balanced in a way because you can't spam your super and abilities like before and I personally had plenty of ammo for all 3 gun slots throughout the mission. It's not a constant stream of ammo but it's enough. The abilities seemed too weak however. Half the grenades/melee could kill in a single hit. I don't want them overpowered but with the wait time we have it should at least be stronger. That or enemies health was absurdly high. I've tried 3 exotics and 2 were extremely fun. The other was alright but lackluster compared to the others. I fear the game will still lack the ability to keep me playing after I hit the highest level and achieve every exotic. I need something to progress towards but that is just my own gameplay style. I am still hoping though that we are just seeing a glimpse of the game and not a good chunk of it like we did with D1 and it's beta. If you'd like I can update you on my opinion of the crucible(not my strong area, but decent when connection holds) and the strike.

Personally I like it. I would say they do need to atleast fix your super charge rate for pve. As for other people saying characters are slow, just choose your armor perks wisely of you want the speed. The only thing you'd most likely have to get use to is how they have their new perk system for the guns. You have to grind to get guns with different perks because the vast majority will have the same ones.

Wow... OP is a bit high and mighty huh? I am a Destiny alpha/beta vet. I'm into the first game at 3875 Grimoire and roughly 300 hours between my two main characters. That is plenty of time to know if you like something and become proficient at it, especially when you have a more than full time job, family and college. In fact, I would say that when you get above 5000 hours into a game... it's probably become an obsession. I got pissed at the first Destiny and practically stopped playing all together minus the story DLC portions after the year one nerf. I'm still pissed about that. As for Destiny 2's Beta... the PVE is much improved and more story driven. The PVP is still pretty much the same crap we've come to expect from every FPS game.

Edited by Ash Kuro: 7/20/2017 12:35:31 AMIt's a great beta, been playing it for the past 6 hours or so. If it's getting any negativity then I'm kinda confused Btw max grimoire with 2.5k+ hours and played alpha and beta.

I like the beta. Felt great except pve ammo and ability usage otherwise it was fun
-
Since the beginning, d1 feels so much smoother, something is just off with d2. Recharge rate yea needs to be enhanced, guns feel the same, I could care less about pvp. Eh...
-
-
Only thing that really needs to be tweaked IMO is the ability cooldown for PVE. Let us use grenades for the love of God. Otherwise I love it.
-
I don't have +5500 grimoire but I've played since alpha and I enjoyed the beta, my only problem is the ability recharge rate in PvE.
-
D1 beta vet here. I love it. I loved Destiny 1. I'll love Destiny 2. Simple as that. Some much needed quality of life changes, better gear customization, bigger patrols, news planets etc. etc.

I think everyone is discounting this game too early. It's the beta with a very limited set of weapons, and armor sets with no perks. You're going to feel weak in D1 if you run around in green/blue gear which is basically what the beta gear is equal to more or less. Yes the weapons are technically legendary but again it's only a very limited set and we don't have any choice of getting different intrinsic perks or the perk infuser whatever option at the bottom of the inspect page. Everyone saying the game is boring or slow is comparing this beta to their thousand hours of play time characters with min-maxed gear. Yea grenades and supers are taking a long time to charge, it takes as long in D1 if you have no intellect or discipline. There is supposed to be perks on armor to reduce cool downs in a more expected way than we had in D1. Instead of mixing and matching gear to hopefully hit those 60 int/disp/str thresholds, its just a perk to reduce cooldowns for x ability. We don't have those yet so yes it will feel slow. As for the super we specifically have helmet perks in D1 to increase super charge rate for "killing minions of the darkness with x". Also anyone complaining about the supers being bad aren't reading the nodes from their subclasses to see the effects they have and forget that it's not the only version of the supers we will get. There is still a whole other skill tree which you may like better we are not able to use yet. The voidwalker super isn't slow because they nerfed it, it's slow because of the perk in the skill tree. You can shoot it to release the seeking missiles early which I don't think many people read to be honest. The gunslinger super isn't weak, if you look at the second tree of the subclass you will see it gets precision damage and drops more orbs (personally I'm excited to use this myself). The beta version we got is more useful for clearing out several small enemies whereas the other skill tree is better for boss damage given it has precision modifiers on it. Yea heavy ammo doesn't drop often but they are aware and will fix it. We also don't have armor with ammo perks to increase our ammo counts. So when we do get ammo we also get less of it due to no ammo perks.

For me there is no point in extolling the virtues of the Beta. From a developers point of view (as opposed to the marketing point of view) the whole reason of having a beta test is to criticise it. If you have an interest in the game, you should point out the things that are problematic in a clear and reasoned way and hope they will be addressed in the full-game release. So, for my part, I am not shy of saying movement needs looking at (particularly ponderous on Hunter and Warlock), slow NovaBomb is not very good, Gunslinger needs an ability on par with the other classes, ammo drops are mean as -blam!-, skill-tree management is better in D1, player characters need to speak in the game (still haven't said anything since Mara Sov's throne room), there is still frame rate drop in hectic encounters, and there is still lag in PvP.

My favorite part of the beta is enjoying the new scenery. I'm glad I have time to take it all in since I'm always out of ammo and never have an ability at the ready.
