So here are my impressions of the beta for D2.
First off I really enjoyed the feel of the guns, they felt hefty and hard hitting. I'm loving the sound design and audio work done for the game. Damage may need a buff but that could be because the beta has everything synched to 200 damage output making everything equal so everything can be tried out for personal flavor I guess? I would like to see slower firing weapons deal more damage and faster firing weapons make up for lower damage output with the rate of fire.
Supers do charge slower here and that feels like a PVP thing because of the new 4v4 modes making one super a team kill possibly. I'd rather they split the recharge rates between PVE and PVP so that way during PVE you get them a lot more. During the entire first mission I was only able to use it twice and it didn't deal as much damage as I'd hoped it would (I was using the new arcstrider hunter build), but it looked super flashy and cool.
The graphics are pretty in this game, loving the new (I think) dynamic lighting done with fires and particle effects during the opening mission and hope to see more of that. The story is also growing on me, really curious to see more of it especially if it keeps being told in this more cinematic way (plus having actual characters in mission with you like Zavala and Cayde-6 was really cool and made the level feel far more alive than the previous game).
Overall I really did enjoy the beta mission and strike, sure the boss was a bit bullet spongy but Destiny has always shared that with MMO's, and while I'd like to see it balanced a bit better so that way it doesn't take quite as long it was a challenging and fun fight with the new dynamic arena and boss phases.
Some things I would like like to see changed, at least based on the beta. Weapon and armor drops felt far to infrequent, as in I didn't get a single one until the boss died in the strike and that was from the loot chest. If this is how its going to be, we had best get some good loot that keeps us climbing the light level ranks every time because otherwise loot is far to scarce.
I would also like more power weapon ammo to drop, I barely got to test out the grenade launcher and sniper rifle because the ammo was so far and few between I only got to use them once each mission.
So yea, hope this helps Bungie, I loved Destiny 1 even if a lot of people I knew didn't, and I want you to keep up the good work by listening to the community. Also, make sure this Guided Games idea of yours actually works, or please....put in match making for Raids. I never got to even try them and it would be a shame to have them be cut off from me yet again just because I don't know enough people who play Destiny to do them and don't want to be forced to use a Forum to hunt for players when I'm limited for time in my day to day life.
