We need a mode without abilities, just pure gun skill. I've been saying it for years. This way, truly only the best would win. No stickies, no axions no skips. No shotgun-sniper warlock melees.

I'm not against the idea. I always thought having different weekly PVP modifiers would freshen things up. But the better players are always going to be better.

Edited by FrenetiCreature: 7/18/2017 9:53:59 PMAnd an abilities only mode. That way the people who "think" they're the best, because they can't point and shoot, will lose to the people that actually use their abilities properly. It's Destiny, not CoD. The Game was made with abilities from the beginning. They're just as much a part of the game game as guns are. To truly be good at "Destiny", you have to be proficient with both guns and abilities. If you can use your primary well, but don't use your abilities properly, then you're not actually good at "Destiny"; You're only good at using one type of attack, out of all of the attacks available, in Destiny: primaries. Except the players that come from an FPS background, and say that only primaries take skill, say that, because that's what they're used to and where they come from; So naturally, "Whatever I feel like I'm good at, and whatever I want the game to be, that's what I'm going to say takes the most skill." Cuz, they're definitely not going to say, "Yeah, I'm good with a primary, but I suck at using my abilities effectively. I need to get better. So, I'd be really good if we change the game from what it actually is, into a totally different game, but as it stands, I'm only good at part of the game." Heck No! They're gonna say, "Abilities take no skill. I'll prove it. Look at how easily this super kills!"...*BOOM... "See, all I had to do was hit a button, and got a free kill." Just as he panic slams an enemy that is beating him in a gun fight; even though the other team has two players with their Arcblade, and Stormtrance, charged and ready to use, and heavy is about to drop. But hey, he's really good with his weapon that has the slowest ttk, out of all of his available weapons and abilities, so... He's the best, right... right?

It's called "Call of Duty" and look what a mess that turned out to be over the years
-
👆what this guy said. The bitchiest mofo's are already out crying about the beta. Christ. But that is what I get for even coming to there forums on beta drop.
-
Why are abilities and grenades not part of the "skill" factor? I like to think the most skilled players can rely on anything and everything and still do great.
-
They can't multi task or be creative, anything over and above "shoot gun" is just too complex.
-
Yeah... but one of the attractions to Destiny is that you have this extra arsenal that you can use from time to time. It actually takes skill to manage and use a super. You have to manage and control the time to build it and then strategize when to use it, trying to maximize your kills while minimizing the time you hold on to it. A lot of times its wasted on a "Get Out of Jail Free" card where you pop it to save your ass instead of obtain your goal. But all the same, that's the game people like. I wouldn't think having a gun fight, without abilities wouldn't really separate Destiny from a hundred other games out their. I tend to believe that no one would go to a Batman movie just to see him talk his way out of a conflict.

why is using the given abilities to effectiveness not considered skill?
-
Because lord knows abilities are the problem in this meta. Melee spamming warlocks. Stickies. Shoulder charge? There's a reason everyone runs max discipline and intellect
-
that's not because of abilities. That's because they nerfed guns into shit, so people obviously used whats more effective.
-
Arent using abilities well part of "truly" being the best? I get that nobody wants to see somebody spamming stickies, but the best players know how to effecitvely use movement, grenades, supers etc
-
That's why a slower charge time is helpful. You would have to use them in the right moment
-
I agree with that. I dont think id enjoy a game without any of the abilities, but slower charge time on them is very beneficial
