This is a funny title, because the only Destiny youtuber i have even considered entertaining lately is The Jez, and its because of all the "In a Nutshell" videos that he's made. The problem with most of these Yters is that Destiny is the ONLY game that they cover. They essentially become cheerleaders for the game, rather than being a voice of critical analysis, because their livelihood is attached to YOU being excited for the game. So, even if its a mundane bit of "news" they spew it out like its important because... well.... they need to pay their rent and eat. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Any YTer that has only 1 game that they feature can't be fully trusted. They are essentially a mouthpiece for Bungie, even if they pretend to be a mouthpiece for the player.

  • Are they all could become Day walkers with the rest of the work force and contribute a little back. Now that's a grind.

  • Love those in a nut shell videos. I also like the fun police. It cracks me up. They're the only 2 desticles I can actually tolerate. I think markiplier is good at honest game reviews, and he does a lot of indie. I dont mind subscribing so that someone at least gets the money other than the googlement.

  • But does someone get money for you subbing? No. They only get money for views. Pewdiepie has 50 mil subs but his vids get 10 mil views. Hes only getting money off of the views.

  • If subbed you are notified of a new video. If you subbed clearly you will watch the new crap. Logic isn't it

  • No. You dont get immediately notified. You need to opt in or out of that feature. Where are Pewdiepie's other 40 million views then?

  • Youtubers that stick to one game so so because the majority of their audience wants that sort of content. Most of them will lose views of they post other content that isn't related to Destiny. Look at SirDimetrious, for instance. He made a Battlefield 1 video a while ago that only brought in about 27K views, yet every video he has posted in the past month has over 40K views (some of them went as high as 90K). Also if you look at people like SirDimetrious or Kruzer, you would know that they stop at nothing to share their complete honest opinion, and the past few months have shown that they are highly critical of the game. Yes, there are Youtubers that are similar to what you have described, but not all of them are the same. There are plenty of others that I haven't listed that have a similar, rather critical outlook toward Destiny that isn't always positive.

  • But yet, even though the game is a mess, they still generate content for it. Hmmmmm......

  •
But yet, even though the game is a mess, they still generate content for it. Hmmmmm......
I already told you why, they'd lose views. The lowest viewed video SirDimetrious has had this month was 40K views. His Battlefield 1 video only got 27K. Think about that for a second. I dunno about you, but losing at least 33% of my views would be a pretty big reason to not stray away from Destiny content.

  • A big argument you made what that Destiny Youtubers are a "mouthpiece" for Bungie and thus "can't be fully trusted." You're implying that Destiny Youtubers are giving dishonest, purely positive opinions for the purpose of getting revenue for their videos. While I do understand that part of the reason content creators make videos is to make money, that doesn't mean they innately have glorified, dishonest opinions about the game. There are plenty of content creators who are genuine and who share their complete honest opinions about the game.

  • I didn't mean to imply that. I'm willing to bet that half of them wish they could have just stopped playing this mess of a game a long time ago, but its buttering their bread, so they push on. But they are covering the game and that is publicity for bungie. Did you ever a watch a Destiny video and then get inspired to turn the game on, even though you have been frustrated with it lately? If you did, thats effectively an advertisement for Bungie. These Yters "act" happier about than they are. Which can "influence" you (or anyone) into playing. Many of them made their bones from this game. Its a conflict of interest, in some ways. The people that cover multiple games aren't as pressured to put the positive "spin" on the situation. Its really quite simple and obvious.

  • I agree that many of them are pressing on with Destiny because it is what they started with, but you can tell from guys like Kruzer that they don't hold back when they feel that the game is in a really bad state. I do think that if they could have switched games a few months ago, many of them would have since the game was in such a bad state while Destiny 2 was far away. They certainly have some tough decisions to make sometimes.

  • So.... which one of these Yters are you, really? This account you are on is obviously a second account. And you are oddly advocating for the YTers in a way that makes you either privy to information or sympathetic to their efforts. If you don't want to tell me here, send me a PM. I'll keep your secret safe. ;)

I'm not a content creator at all whatsoever. I simply respect what they do since I recognize the amount of time and effort it takes for some of them to pour their genuine personality into each and every video, especially when they have to make videos about a game that is in one of the worst states it has ever seen.

  • Especially when they have to fabricate their personality to be more appealing to their fans..... that does take effort. But not as much effort as it takes a waitress to fabricate an upbeat personality in order to bring you food a restaurant in a way that is appealing to someone. The waitress doesn't get to edit out their "umms" or their "sighs" or their real emotions. They have to do it in real time, in person. Don't be fooled by these content creators. They are a mess just like the rest of us.

  • I never said every content creators was genuine. But if you said every one of them was fake, then you're either paranoid or delusional.

  • I didnt say fake. They are presenting the best versions of themselves. Its just reality. They arent present the reality of the game. They are presenting the best versiins of the game. Its marketing 101.

  • I guess I'll just agree to disagree. I don't see how mtashed ranting about the meta or Kruzer complaining about the game are presenting the "reality of the game" like you say they do.

  • I meant to say not reality. And Mtashed is probably the absolute worst example for your argument... he is my most disliked. But we can agree to disagree. I'm fine with that.

  • Jez the Titan Slayer, Slayer of all Titans. Jez is cool. Those Nutshell videos he does are worth the sub. I also find Sliq a good YouTuber/Streamer. He's always in for a laugh, intelligent, and plays Defender Titan so well, most of the time.
