NMS is the only open world space game I ever played. I was bored quick.
I'd like to hear some opinions of people who played both.

Formula I race car compared to a street-legal Honda. They are two different games. Elite Dangerous is a space-sim meets MMO. Steep learning curve. No fixed campaign. The game is you figuring out what you want to do with the tools the game provides you, and your interactions with other players. No Man's Sky....was first and foremost a survival game......with bits and pieces of RPG and mystery game thrown in. Hello Games spent to much time building a (literally) Universe-sized sandbox....and not enough time filling it with interesting things to do. But if you'e someone who craves a lot of non-stop action? Avoid both games. Even in Elite Dangerous you're going spend a LOT of time looking at star fields, and hauling virtual cargo from one location to another. Elite is a very good game, but one that I'm thinking is probably not to your taste if you bored "quickly" playing NMS. I got about 30 to 40 hours out of NMS before I finally started to get frustrated with it.
