As the Destiny community prepares for the arrival of Destiny 2, I just wanted to take some time to reflect on the last three years we have all been playing this game. The countless hours of grinding raids, strikes, and the crucible. I myself began my journey into Destiny with the Alpha Test on the PS4. I played all the way up to the release of the Rise of Iron DLC. At that time I made the decision to switch to the Xbox One. A vast majority of my real life friends have a Xbox One so it was a reasonable decision. From there I continued my journey. Sure I miss playing the Echo Chamber strike and I never got the Jade Rabbit or Zen Meteor exotics, and I likely won't. By the time that content is available on Xbox One, I'll be too busy with Destiny 2 to go back.
Over the last three years we've become well acquainted with the raids in Destiny. I'm curious as to which raid is everyone's favorite? What is their least favorite? My favorite is still Crota's End. My greatest achievement is getting the Flawless Raider trophy on this raid back when I was on PS4. I wouldn't have my platinum trophy of Destiny without it. As for least favorite, that will always be King's Fall. Mainly because of the totems and Golgoroth. So many wipes because someone messed up. I know I've messed up on both many times and I've played with many people who messed up there.
Of all the things to do in Destiny, the one activity I have done more than anything are strikes. My top 5 favorites being, The Devil's Lair, Cerberus Vae III, Shield Brothers, The Shadow Thief, and Fallen S.A.B.E.R. My least favorite being Will of Crota, Dust Palace, The Wretched Eye, Blighted Chalice, and The Abomination Heist. Yeah as you can tell I pretty much like most of the Fallen and Cabal strikes and didn't care for the Hive strikes. So which strikes were your favorite and which ones could you do without?
Guardian down! I can only imagine the exact number of guardians slain in the crucible. Personally I'm not big on PvP unless it's Iron Banner. I've only played a few trials cards and never been to the lighthouse. If it tells you how little crucible I play, my Xbox account just today got the grimoire card for the map First Light. But that doesn't mean that I haven't found a few maps I like. And a few I don't like. of all the maps, my top 5 favorites are Firebase Delphi, Bannerfall, Widow's Court, Pantheon, and Twilight Gap. My least favorite being Crossroads, Memento, The Dungeons, The Timekeeper, and The Cauldron. Which maps were your favorite and which made you want to rage quit?
Let's get down to the main reason some of us play... THE LOOT!!! Many of us have been around since the days of the original loot cave and the unrelenting anger we had for the cryptarch and RNGesus. Watching those precious legendary engrams decrypt into garbage. Do you remember what your first exotic was? Mine was the Helm of Inmost Light. I got it during one of my Nightfall completions. The days of the legendary Gjallarhorn. The divide it caused, if you didn't have Gjallarhorn no one would take you into a raid. I still remember the day I got my first Gjallarhorn. I had missed buying it from Xur the first time he sold it, like so many. There was word spreading around the forums that whoever was the swordbearer during the Crota's End raid would get Gjallarhorn. Probably just BS, but low and behold I ran the sword and upon killing Crota I got my very first Gjallarhorn. My friends laughed their ass off as I screamed into my mic inaudible words and laughter. Xur be damned, the very next day he showed up selling Gjallarhorn. My joy turned to rage as the salt consumed me and I began chanting the same words I had heard from others for so long. At least I earned it, I didn't Xurn it. Of all the exotics we have collected, which is your favorite weapon and which is your favorite armor piece. When it comes to armor it's easy. I love my ACD/0 Feedback gauntlets. I'm very in your face when it comes to my play style so being able to do damage to enemies that melee me is great. As for the weapon, that's a little trickier. It would be a tie between the Icebreaker, Fabian Strategy, and Raze-Lighter. The Icebreaker because it has saved my ass more times than once during the original Nightfall strikes. back when you had to worry about being sent back to orbit. The Fabian Strategy because it is an exceptional weapon during Iron Banner. People may shit on it, until they get cut down by it. I haven't found auto rifle in the Iron Banner and when combined with the Ward of Dawn and Weapons of Light, it's a monster. As for the Raze-Lighter, it's mainly a sentimental attachment. It was my first exotic sword.
I guess I'll go ahead and wrap this up. I know it is a long winded post. I just have two more questions for my fellow guardians. Which class did you play the most? And which of the factions did you favor? I'm a titan through and through. While I did play as all the classes, i preferred it the most. Warlock was ok, and I'll be honest, Hunter isn't for me. As for factions, I'm all about Dead Orbit. My rank with them is over 100. I've only just now gotten New Monarchy over 25 to get the exotic class item, and I'm now working on Future War Cult. They're only rank 16. I look forward to playing Destiny 2 with my clan mates as well as the many random guardians whose path I'll cross along the way. I hope everyone will read this and i encourage them to share the fun they've had over the last three years.
A faithful Titan,
