Why is there so much negativity on these forums surrounding Destiny 2? Yes, the Bungie team is making changes. So many people in this community sound like stubborn old geezers who are resistant to change, talking about "Back in my day..." It's a new game - changes are expected. Otherwise, you'd all be complaining because it's too much like Destiny 1. Personally, I'm excited for a fresh start.
I challenge you to write something you look forward to in Destiny 2.
I look forward to: seeing how the character creation will turn out. Will we have plenty more options to make our Guardian stand out from the rest? I don't like how my human character looks (and thus I wear a helmet at all times) and I desperately look forward to a fresh start.

I'm looking forward to continuing my Awoken Titan's journey. To see him return from the brink of death, only to have the resolve to push on and become strong once more. Also looking forward to the Beta! Cannot wait to get a taste of what's to come!

I look forward to all of it.

Nothing right now.

The story.

I'm looking forward to loot mattering again, to the story, the new subclasses, the raid and modifiers of events and such.

I'm looking to get my hands on the Dawnblade. The idea of being able to shoot while gliding seems really fun. I'm thinking about actually changing my Warlock class, but we'll have to wait and see what Voidwalker is bringing to the table first.

* New server hosting system for more consistent missions. * Larger play-spaces with an emphasis on exploration. * (Assuming) Larger quantity of varying gear options. Static perks will hopefully make finding and collecting a wider variety of gear more appealing. * A clear and concise story/plot. * A more level playing field for Crucible. * Better implementation of lore and vague story threads in-game (read: 'Actual' implementation) * The location 'Titan' looks interesting. I'd enjoy exploring it. A couple smaller studios were hired on to help with art asset creation and other areas so I am hoping this means a broader scope for the artistic design we will experience for the gear, enemies and exploratory elements.

No more lag in pvp due to the new hybrid servers.

The story. I really hope they've got something good cooking.

Playing it
-
Playing and cooperating with friends in new content, finding secrets, using the new subclasses, discovering new exotics, exploring the new planets and locations, checking out the new shaders/emblems/ships/sparrows, unlocking new trophies, trying a new raid blind, trying out the new pvp modes, watching a new story unfold, meeting new potential friends, and most important having fun doing it all. Is this enough?
