Thank you for the input, everyone. I appreciate those who actually gave me good feedback. My apologies to everyone else, didn't know it would upset that many people, honestly.
For whatever reason, if you want to see the original thread here it is:
I know, I know, probably the worst topic to have a debate over. But it's kind of an issue for people like me who enjoy wearing it because they're comfortable and almost hassle-free and I'd like to get your opinion on what you think about them.
Contrary to men's(and some women's) beliefs, not all of us wear leggings/yoga pants to show off. Pants are annoying and if it wasn't for public indecency most of us would rather go without wearing such travesty on our legs. Jeans are a pain to wear in the summer, booty shorts work but burn our legs when sitting down. To us, pants are literally leg prisons and almost if not as annoying as wearing bras(that's for another topic I won't go into here).
If you read my previous thread, you'll remember that my workplace recently banned leggings from being worn on casual Fridays, where coworkers get to wear whatever they want to work. We've had guys come to work in gym shorts and one time even swimming trunks. Yeah. But no, no leggings. It's a "distraction to the work environment."
Airlines are banning them too, if I'm not mistaken. I think two girls were removed from a United flight because they were wearing leggings. And I get called a s*** all the time for wearing them even to the grocery store. It's not fair that we can't wear something comfy just because guys can't stop staring or because they don't want their kids exposed(I've had a mother tell me that, not even joking).
Also, leggings and yoga pants are different. Yoga pants are active-wear that can be worn standalone. I think those get the most criticism because unlike leggings they usually aren't worn under a dress or a long shirt.
How do you feel about yoga pants/leggings? Do you think it's fair for my workplace to ban them? I know this seems like a silly topic but I'd like to get everyone's honest opinion, if possible.
Thank you :)
Edit: Just wanted to make something clear. I'm talking about Casual Fridays at work. Yes leggings/yoga pants are not professional and I wouldn't wear them in a professional setting either. But Casual Fridays are supposed to be just that-- casual. I'm only annoyed because guys are allowed to wear swimming trunks and gym shorts but we can't wear leggings/yoga pants because they're "distracting." Might as well just ban Casual Fridays altogether lol.
Issues like this make me thank God every day I'm not a woman
-
Again Cats and fishes cant wear leggings
-
If you are overweight, please do not wear leggings.
Airlines are banning them too, if I'm not mistaken. I think two girls were removed from a United flight because they were wearing leggings.
Leaving out an important detail. Those girls were flying on United employee tickets. Part of the deal with flying on employee tickets is that you represent the airline while you're traveling, even if you aren't an actual employee (perhaps family member or friend) There's a modest dress code that goes along with that.

I thought it was silly, but to give up the thread? That just creates more attention to it.

Edited by SuperWood44: 7/4/2017 4:42:52 PMYou don't like to wear jeans cus there uncomfortable? Guess what, guys wear them with hair I there legs and you don't see us complaining. Also you tried leggings and booty shorts, have you tried and this may be a little difficult...
normal shorts? Believe it or not but girls don't have to wear suggestive cloths all the time
Edited by Centurion 0mega: 7/3/2017 2:03:55 PMComing from a male's point of view, they are very distracting.
-
I think I'll wear whatever I want because nobody controls my body but me, and if other people don't like it they can suck it

Edited by HeadHunter: 7/2/2017 8:57:30 PMI'm shocked that McDonalds has a casual friday, even more so than the fact they have banned their overweight staff from wearing yogo pants. All jokes aside, they were probably distracting people in a bad way. No one would "ban" then from the workplace if the ones wearing them were actually attractive.

As many people have said, you can't compare basketball shorts or swim trunks to leggings. The two former ones are loose fitting while leggings are tight fitting and leave little to the imagination. If the men were showing up in Speedos or swim trunks without a shirt on then you'd have a case, but you have nothing. Men do not often wear skin tight clothing that outlines their physique like women tend to do. I'm sure there are plenty of different options of clothing for you to wear, you don't need to wear leggings. This was an issue at my first job I worked at. My counterpart on the night shift, who was a female, went into work wearing leggings and she had a big ass. And it being a warehouse full of men, it was distracting for them. It was hilarious when I found out the next morning on day shift, but it was perfectly understandable that they told her she couldn't wear them anymore.

Leggings aren't pants. I imagine if a guy showed up in jammers or a speedo they'd be asked to change, too.

Edited by PermaBanned: 7/4/2017 4:16:51 AMWhy not wear soccor shorts, basket ball shorts, or jean shorts? All us guys do it, and I know a significant amount of girls that do it too.
-
My thoughts: ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
-
>comparing skin-tight leggings to baggy basketball shorts. #Logic An actual fair comparison would be a guy wearing biker shorts to work. I'm pretty sure EVERYONE would complain about having to avert their eyes from his bulging sack. Stop making up reasons to be fake oppressed. It's embarrassing.

In the end you should wear what you want but realize that reguardless of your personal reason for wearing them when you display that much of your anatomy people will look. If you cant take being looked at then refrain from wearing this article of clothing. To me almost everyone on both sides of this argument are just to soft and need to understand human nature a bit better

Edited by Sportmanteau: 7/3/2017 10:31:43 AMWhether you're showing off or not, you should be able to wear them. If people are intentionally looking at your derrière, then that's their problem, why are they looking there in the first place?
also if you don't like jeans then you have no soul
Then again..
the booty is a powerful thing.☞ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)☞
Edited by Syndicate Bias: 7/3/2017 6:15:38 PMYou mean to say you made this stupid post about a topic everyone is not innocent or stupid enough to believe leggings aren't used to display ones arse, but to see how many people you trigger to screenshot their replies to laugh about it on ardent with your supporters (the few in ardent) who also mock them? Hmmmmmmm
-
To be fair I covers about as much as dipping your lower half in paint. Frankly I'm surprised I can't wear my penis sock in public if girls can get away with leggings. Like is it that hard to wear a long shirt to cover your ass.
-
Not fair. Everyone should be able to enjoy a glorious booty.
-
Why the fck would some fella wanna go to work in his swimming trunks is beyond me ,you can't make this shit up. I can't believe I read it . More fool me.
-
You may not have the intent of showing off but by wearing yoga pants/leggings you do show off a lot below the waist. It's fine out of work for sure, but unprofessional while at work. Think of it on the flip side, what if men at work wore something like yoga pants that exposes their buldge? Nobody would tolerate that.
-
How did this turn into a meme?...
-
I truly feel bad for you. You come to express your honest opinion and everyone makes it a meme. I can now see why you left in the first place. I'm about ready to leave myself
-
When no one can take a joke
-
Seriously? That's pretty stupid. That's like banning guys from wearing cargo shorts because they're exposing their calves.
-
you're obsessed with leggings
