Compiling a list of all of the loose ends from Destiny 1's story

Vanilla: 1) We still don't know who the Exo Stranger is, who she is talking to, or what she is doing. 2) We know nothing about the Vex's origins, their motives, or their leaders (besides Atheon). 3) We don't know what the Darkness is (and neither does Bungie atm). 4) We don't know anything about the Traveler's true nature or origins. The Dark Below 1) Omnigul can undo her death, given the right conditions. We don't know what these conditions are, therefor it may be possible for other Hive to do the same. This means Crota and Oryx could potentially return as future adversaries. House of Wolves 1) SIVA being used to resurrect and improve notable Fallen foes means the same could be done for Skolas at some point. Combined with the Vex tech he used, he could be immensely powerful the next time we fight him (probably worthy of becoming a raid boss). The Taken King 1) Oryx's Ravenous Heart is now in the Touch of Malice, which will be seized when the Cabal kick us out of the Tower. He could still return. 2) We still have the Crystal containing a piece of Crota's soul. Maybe we could turn this into a weapon too? If we do, I hope it's a sword like the one Crota wields in Crota's End. 3) Eris Morn leaves the Tower between the conclusion of The Taken King and the Cabal Invasion. She's out there doing something, but it might be a while before we find out. 4) The Awoken Queen is MIA. Presumed dead in-universe, but we know she's alive somewhere. Personally, I hope she comes back in disguise, so we don't realise that it's her at first. 5) The Queen's Brother is off doing something with the Fallen, but we don't know what. 6) Taken are still an issue. Cabal from Red Legion are being Taken, this means they have a new leader with the power to Take. A bit too soon for Oryx's return, likely someone else. Rise of Iron 1) SIVA still exists, it's still a problem, and the Fallen may not be the last to abuse it. 2) Aksis wasn't the one in control after he Perfected himself. Someone else was pulling the strings, and besides Rasputin (highly unlikely) we have zero suspects. === Have I missed any? Please let me know in the comments!
1) We still don't know who the Exo Stranger is, who she is talking to, or what she is doing.
The Exo Stanger is a former member of the Ishtar Collective. Which one is unknown though there are hints pointing towards at least two different scientists. She has connections to the FWC and nothing else matters because you're putting far to much importance on a character who exists for no other reason that to further the plot by pointing us in the direction of the Vex.
2) We know nothing about the Vex's origins, their motives, or their leaders (besides Atheon).
Where the Vex originates is neither here no there, as they've existed for so long in so many timelines theres almost no way that a satisfying answer can be given without being riddled with Paradoxes. They simply are. As to their goals, it is in their own words 'an emperor to all outcomes.' To gather all data, and run infinite simulations using said data until they have a contingency plan for every single possible scenario that ends at the very least with continued Vex survival.
3) We don't know what the Darkness is (and neither does Bungie atm).
As per the Book of Sorrow we know it is simultaneously a philosophy, a fundamental force of existence, and a sentient entity. It is locked in eternal war with the Light over what the tow belive is the perfect existence. The Darkness believes perfection lies in the extinction of everything except itself, the Light in a universe much like our concept of utopia.
4) We don't know anything about the Traveler's true nature or origins.
Its a massive sentient machine that champions the will of the Light much as the Worms champion the will of the Dark. Whether it is the only one of its kind is unknown, though it is probably not the Light itself, just a champion.
1) Omnigul can undo her death, given the right conditions. We don't know what these conditions are, therefor it may be possible for other Hive to do the same. This means Crota and Oryx could potentially return as future adversaries.
All Hive can be resurrected provided sufficient sacrifice is given to call them forth and that their souls are not destroyed within a Hive Netherrealm. Niether Crota nor Oryx can return as they died true death in their Throne Worlds. Omnigul died only a mortal death.
1) SIVA being used to resurrect and improve notable Fallen foes means the same could be done for Skolas at some point. Combined with the Vex tech he used, he could be immensely powerful the next time we fight him (probably worthy of becoming a raid boss).
SIVA is never used to resurrect the dead, or at least not in the way you're implying. Neither Taniks nor the Abominations of the Iron Lords were resurrected, their bodies were just used as a skeleton of sorts for SIVA to use as a platform. Taniks could do more and was more like Taniks because at the time of his death very little of Taniks was organic to begin with, with almost everything being replaced by machinery at that point. Skolas' body could be brought back, though Skolas himself would require a retcon.
1) Oryx's Ravenous Heart is now in the Touch of Malice, which will be seized when the Cabal kick us out of the Tower. He could still return.
The Ravenous Heart is Oryx's Worm plus a small sliver of Oryx himself. It is just enough so on the meanest basest level the entity that was Oryx continues to exist. That said, existence is not life, and even if we obliged his plan for pseudo-immortality (which we thwarted by refusing to Mantle the Taken King) the entity that returned would not be Oryx as we knew him. It would be something else entirely, a new entity created by merging Oryx and his killer.
2) We still have the Crystal containing a piece of Crota's soul. Maybe we could turn this into a weapon too? If we do, I hope it's a sword like the one Crota wields in Crota's End.
Possible, though that seems a waste.
3) Eris Morn leaves the Tower between the conclusion of The Taken King and the Cabal Invasion. She's out there doing something, but it might be a while before we find out.
All we know about Eris is her obsession with the Hive, and that she has worked with both the Queen, Osiris, and Ikora in the past. I imagine we'll get mentions of her but she wont return to the foreground until the arrival of Xivu Arath, Savathun, or the ascension of Toland.
4) The Awoken Queen is MIA. Presumed dead in-universe, but we know she's alive somewhere. Personally, I hope she comes back in disguise, so we don't realise that it's her at first.
I imagine the current plot with Variks, Uldren, and the House of Kings will play out more before she finally re-emerges.
5) The Queen's Brother is off doing something with the Fallen, but we don't know what.
He's been accepted into the House of Kings at the higher echelons. What this means remains unclear but it'll certainly have a role in Variks' Kell of Kells plot.
6) Taken are still an issue. Cabal from Red Legion are being Taken, this means they have a new leader with the power to Take. A bit too soon for Oryx's return, likely someone else.
In addition to the various claimants alive within the Hive, Toland seems a likely canidate eventually, though I hope they don't blow that plot point this early.
1) SIVA still exists, it's still a problem, and the Fallen may not be the last to abuse it.
Info from Destiny 2 confirms its still around in some capacity. How much of an issue remains unknown. The only production facility we know to exist has been destroyed, so with what we know now it should be a dwindling threat as it can only decrease in numbers.
2) Aksis wasn't the one in control after he Perfected himself. Someone else was pulling the strings, and besides Rasputin (highly unlikely) we have zero suspects.
How I always interpreted Aksis' cards with regards to his ascension was as SIVA gaining a kind of pseudo-sentience. See, SIVA needs a mind to function, and the only minds we know that were hooked in was Rasputin, and Aksis. Rasputin was disconnected so that leaves Aksis. While SIVA cannot gain sentience of its own, that doesn't mean it cannot affect the mind of its user, which may have been why Rasputin, the only Warmind outfitted with it, was able to become 'more' than the other warminds. As a result, when Aksis took command he was shaped into a new being, making it so Aksis was the mind in control, but that mind was no longer truly Aksis, if that makes any sense.
