Why is the slide even a thing?
As if encountering the "dropshot" in [i]other[/i] shooters wasn't aggravating enough, in the wonderful world of Destiny I constantly get rushed by players with shotguns who insist on sliding across the entire battle area.
What are your thoughts? Please give more than "if it's in the game, don't complain."

So if sliding didn't exist, would it be jumping? Sprinting? Moving? Live with it, you can do it too

7 RepliesSliding has been a thing in FPSs for a long time, annoying at times? Yes. But it is what it is. What annoys me is the sprint cool down. So we're honest to God space police ninja wizards but we can't run, stop, run again? For Christ's sake I can run, stop, run again and I'm in the worst shape of my life.

So you want them to walk right up and wave to get your attention before shooting? I mean it has the least range of all weapons (Shotgun). What are they supposed to do?

A way to cover distance faster thus increasing accuracy with a shotgun. People do it, because math.

One on one engagement I'm good, win most lose some, it happens. Not everybody can play like that. I can't play that slide shotgun so....to each their own I guess.

It also makes you not show up consistently on the radar, ever notice when someone is crouching around you and your radar flashes? That's what you're doing when you slide but mobile.

Yeah, but if this game didn't have slide you would have 1,000 posts saying "Why the heck is slide not a thing? It's in all the other games!" That's why.

I had a titan slide under my melee. Twice. Was hefty impressive. Not at the time, he then killed me. But after...lol

Thats a great tactic. I used shotguns exclusively until the last patch(yes i know "git gud").but its just a playstyle.fusions will teach them to keep their distance

It is a fundamentally broken mechanic - it should make you less stable than going airborne, not more - being able to slide on any surface, including UP stairs is just plain ridiculous

If you know someone is sliding the whole match, why don't you adapt your playstyle to counter it ? I know, according to this community, everyone's downfall is created because of someone else out playing them.
