"Some-BODY once told me the world was gonna roll me, I ain't the sharpest tool in the sheeed!~.."
There he goes. Singing again. I don't find it annoying, mind you, I just find it funny that he's singing when we're in the bowels of the Dreadnaught, looking for something he claimed was "important."
"She was looking kinda dumb with her finger and her thumb, in the shape of an L on her foreheaaad!"
A part of me wanted to believe that he was singing to calm himself of the constant paranoia he had of always being behind enemy lines. Being in a ship that was previously owned by a god of death, infested with creatures who's sole purpose is to kill anything that draws breath. That would cause anyone to go mad. But, if I knew my guardian, he sung just for the hell of it. His own personal safety be damned.
He turned to look at me after his voice trailed off. A wide, expecting smile began to grow upon his face, and I knew what he wanted.
"Well! The years start coming and they don't stop coming! Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running! Didn't make sense not to live for fun! Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb! So much to do so much to see, so what's wrong with taking the back streets!? You'll never know if you don't go! You'll never shine if you don't glow!"
The both of us sang as loud as we possibly could, my singular eye staring back into his. Any sensible guardian would be trying to keep quiet as to not reveal their position but.. BraveCole is far from sensible.
It's not his fault, though. He wasn't always like this.
"Hey, now! You're an all-star! Get cha game on! Go plaaay! Hey, now! You're a rock star! Get the show on! Get paid!"
"All that glitters is gooold!" I sang this part, by myself.
"Only shooting staaaars, break the mooo-oooold..." He finished up, breaking into a laugh. "Haha! Nailed it! -blam!-ing love that song. Now, come on, Becky. BraveCole's got things to do, places to be."
"Of course, love. Mind telling me what we're here for again?" I said, cheerfully.
"Soot. Soot, Becky, soot!" BraveCole clammered on, snapping his fingers. "There's pearls in that soot! And soot in those pearls! Becky! You gotta help me find some."
"Absolutely. Right by your side, Brave. I got my eye peeled." I chirped back.
Honestly? I didn't know what the hell a "sootpearl" was. But that didn't matter.
My guardian said he needed help. So I'm going to help him.
It's a shame, really. His mind didn't ask to be deteriorated over time. Dominic wasn't meant to wield the light, but he ended up with it anyway. Wielding the Traveler's Light but not being chosen by it can lead to some.. Adverse affects.
He stopped walking. "Becky?" He questioned out. "What are we here for again?"
"Sootpearls, sweetheart."
He raised an eyebrow. "You sure?"
"Positive."
He shrugged. "I think you're right. Oh yeah! You are right! Sootpearls! That's what I need. Thanks, Becky." He said, walking again with more focus.
Logic would tell me that he was supposed to be left dead in the snow, never to wield such power. Having a body not compatible with light literally eats away at his mind, almost driving it near the brink of insanity.. Sigh. But still. BraveCole knows the bigger picture, and knows what his purpose is. And I intend to guide him every step of the way.
She'd like that.
We kept walking, before the space around us began to scream and tear apart.
"Shit! It's the Given!" BraveCole yelled, looking around.
"The Taken, dear, you meant to say. Need a weapon?"
"Yeah, give me my shotgun, you know the one." He said, extending his arm out.
"I know the one," I repeated back. In his hand, I materialized an elite vanguard issued shotgun, and he loaded it, nodding his head excitedly. "Oh, god, yes. My favorite.. shhhh, shhhh.." BraveCole whispered to his gun, loading the chamber. "I promise to be a good Titan.."
He instantly charged his foes, and I cloaked myself but stayed nearby. I saw him slide into a Taken Captain, unloading two shells as he did so. He got up and turned to his right where a Taken Vandal made itself known. Before it could put up a shield, however, BraveCole extended his arm with the shotgun and obliterated it. While he was seemingly distracted, a taken Minotaur began rushing his position. But he nonchalantly threw the shotgun over his shoulder where it was pointed right at the creature.
"Annnnnd, one for the highlight reel," He smirked, pulling the trigger and killing the monster instantly. He cocked his gun as he looked around. "I'd say that's the lot of them. Hm. Must be everyone's off day.." He said, treading along.
If it was one thing that I was grateful BraveCole didn't forget, it was his combat skills. He walked a couple steps until his boot hit something rather round and hard. He bent down to pick it up, and lit up when he examined it.
"Ha! Becky! It's a mother -blam!-ing sootpearl! Let's goooooo!" He laughed.
"Good job! Now, what exactly does it do?"
He shrugged, putting it in his pocket. "Oh, nothing. They're just kickass to have. Come on, let's find some more. I'm sure Dawn would love one."
BraveCole began walking as I stood there floating, trying to process what I just heard. I sighed, floating after him.
"Coming, Brave." He's my guardian, after all.
And I intend to be with him every step of the way.
