Now just here me out on this. If you really want to know if D2 is for you just listen to Luke Smith. I know I know he's managed to anger three quarters of the community.
But there is a silver lining in his off hand careless not thought out comments. In reality he's telling the truth. Does the truth hurt yes but listening to him you know what to expect. Everyone else is dancing around issues such as servers, character development (exo stranger) PvP changes and such. But in his I don't care about the fans attitude he's actually letting the truth slip out. So I guess instead of smoke a mirrors were hearing exactly how D2 will be from him and his attitude is like it or lump it.
Edit: I know that sounds salty. Some of the information he gave out is a little disappointing. That being said I've enjoyed Destiny even with all it's faults and I'm sure D2 will be fun also. No game is perfect let's just hope they keep making improvements.
PSLS: Are you confident in your ability to still surprise players? Players are so familiar with Destiny at this point, are you confident in your ability going into Destiny 2 to make someone like me, who’s got 1300 hours in the game go “Holy crap?” LS: If I didn’t believe in the team and I’s ability to delight and surprise players, I should probably be doing something else. PSLS: We see the Crucible going to the new 4v4 mode, and it’s changing up the whole dynamic of fireteams. In the first, you had three man fireteams for almost every activity and then Crucible and Raids you could jump in with six-man fireteams. Now you’ve got some three player activities, some four player activities, and some six player activities. Do you worry about that fragmenting people, like those that want to hop out of a Raid and play Crucible, now they’ve got to kick two players? Are you addressing that in any way? LS: It’s a known challenge. We looked at things like PvP, and we looked at the passion of the PvP and the sandbox team. Their passion came from a place of, what can we do to make PvP as good as possible? What’s the right player count? If you look at the constraints that previously existed, things like fireteams being factors of the same size, and you say what if we got rid of those things? What if we removed those constraints? Would it let us make a better PvP game? The team answers yes and I support that too, even if it brings in some additional social friction.
That fat bitch cant find his dick, and really doesn't know how to give direct answers. Then again that interview was ass. A -blam!-ing hoodie question? really?

Luke is a PR nightmare that's for sure.
-
Luke can eat me. Hope that jackass gets fired.
-
I've always disliked how Deej and others from Bungie danced around questions. Even though Luke is aggravating, at least he tells it like it is. Is he Trump in disguise?
-
The problem with Luke Smith, from a PR persepective, is that his comments come off as anti-player. Notice how DeeJ is always saying things like "we nerfed this gun to shit because we respect the players". At least DeeJ is trying. Luke Smith tells us that all of the changes are in response to player behavior and this leads to the understandable conclusion that the D2 will be less fun for players than D1. There is precedent for this! More than a few of my PS4 friends ditched Destiny after The Taken King and it's derogation of Ice Breaker and Gjallarhorn, the unforgiving nature of King's Fall, and the insanely difficult exotic quests. So Luke Smith, instead of telling us how Bungie removed Sunsinger revives because players liked the 1-up, instead tell us how the replacement subclass, Dawnblade, is more fun to play. It is more fun to play, right?

D2 is for anyone who has $$$ to spend for another exclusive beta.

I caught myself criticizing their reveal because it turned me off, but to be honest I realized what you did: That we wanted transparency and we have certainly gotten it. Sucks it backfired on us, but hey, them's the breaks.

Edited by MacSalad: 6/17/2017 8:59:08 PMEdit#2: I really didn't expect that big of a reaction to this post. But it does show that the community has a kinda love hate relationship with like Smith. Some applaud and appreciate his brutal honesty. Others think his aloof attitude disconnects him from the fans. Lol oops. I replied to myself by mistake.
-
I dont think he was supposed to say all these things in the first place. Luke Smith has a huge ego, so if you tease him enough he probably will say things to you that he regrets afterwards. Thats why a lot of things come out the wrong way, split moment answers. What he said hurts Bungie in one way or another , you saw what happend after this interview. Was he saying the truth ,probably of some sort, but reflecting on it ,his ego was talking yet again. Dont think Bungie was happy with him. So if you want to know something about Destiny, please interview Luke Smith. I am already waiting for his next one.lol Cheers

(Y)our adventure

Agreed. It's unfortunate I'm very unlikely to purchase after beta now but I'm glad I know

I agree. For me the Luke Smith interview was basically saying; Forget all that has gone before. We know we -blam!-ed it up. Best to start over. Will D2 have disappointments? To be sure. Will it be a good shooter? Definitely. The last 3 years never happened. It was trick of The Vex. I never hated Destiny. I left when i was bored. I came back when i wanted more of it. I'll be playing D2, how could you not? I also kind of like Luke Smith. Sure he looks and dresses like a drink dependent homeless bum, but I have a m8 like that. He does it on purpose, an has not a care in the world. Maybe Luke Smith does it on purpose too? I also think a lot of his comments are supposed to be Irony or Sarcasm. Americans just don't do it very well. I'm a Brit, his 'throw money at the screen' was the funniest comment he made. He knows this community well. Let him take you on the ride. Or F U C K O F F!

Edited by AlamoCity: 6/17/2017 4:29:06 PMLuke Smith's opinion doesn't matter and is irrelevant.
-
Edited by Der Sheff: 6/16/2017 8:53:37 PMLuke Smith delivered Vault of Glass and King's Fall, which are two of the best pieces of content in the game, as far as I am concerned. Yeah, his opinions aren't to my taste and I disagree with removing elemental primary weapons, but the two raids he was the design lead on are amazing. I'd rather have him at the helm if we can get the same high-level content, despite him incidentally pissing the community off every time he speaks.

No it doesn't hurt! I want a fresh experience

Edited by TheShadow-cali: 6/16/2017 2:51:11 PMCommunication with the community or for this companies entire fanbase has always been an issue and always will be, but that's on them. Gamers have played their part for the last 3 years on giving feedback and more then half of it has literally been ignored until much later or answerd when the company is put up against a wall. There isn't one single person on this forum that can say gamers haven't tried. It's like dealing with a stubborn mule. Until it's ready to move you're are going to have a vary hard time.
-
'Honesty' doesn't always make for a flourishing community, especially in particular when you over-generalise your entire fanbase as a bunch of mindless lemmings who "would throw money at the screen" after they "showed you the emotes". Transparency is great and all, but I don't want to know the developers I support are pretentious snobs.
-
"Bungo be transparent! tell us what we want to know straight forward!" -the 'comunity' OK -bungie "BUNGO Y!?"
-
He at least had the decency to be honest and give us the real deal before we are $60-$100 poorer.
-
I think Luke is related to the ceo because he is Definitely a loose cannon when it comes to pr

IDK the only true problems I had in D1 was lag, messed up Vanilla campaign, and the entirety of Crucible. IMO I don't see much wrong with D2 besides lack of FFA and the possibility that there will be absolutely no Taken outside the PS exclusive strike... and possible lag.
-
I like hearing the truth even if i dont like it
-
This isn't the first time...
-
I'd rather here somebody tell me the reason for something opposed to "I told you so" Sometimes blunt honestly sucks, but I'd rather be pissed for a few than feel like I was lied to for weeks on end.

But they have yet to improve anything
