Why don't they just develop a weapon that shoots them out of the sky as they fall? Do they already have one and I'm just dumb?
-
Because then the game wouldn't be called Titanfall. It would be called Titanfail.
-
Ya it's called anti air weaponry. I'm pretty sure one of the missions is to take out antiair guns so the militia can drop in reinforcements
-
because they would rather have their own titans instead
-
Better yet, why not a weapon that destroys the ships the Titans drop out of?
-
Well we have anti-titan weapons so...........
-
They got AA guns and they got ships that can do it. Were probably dropping into neutral or civilian zones where that type of fire might do substantial damage or some other reasons.
-
If Titans are so deadly, why can they be demolished with ease by some randy with a regular gun?
-
Considering how the other team can easily melt your Titans when they run legions and rohins I say it's redundant
-
Do you sit around massacring every television show and game you play with obvious plot holes? Lol.. that's easy once you're like 16. Called advanced pessimism. So pessimistic you don't even know it.
-
Why don't they just develop a weapon that shoots them out of the sky as they fall?
How about a cannon that shoots Titans at the Titanfalling Titans? They'll just collide in mid-air and cancel each other out.
-
It's probably hard to hit something so heavy falling at terminal velocity. They also come in a pod that bursts open a couple hundred feet before the ground which probably protects the Titan from damage and burning up. Warp fall is also a thing.

North stars my favorite

Prehaps they move too fast.

TITANS NEVER FALL.. 2
customize 6 awesome titans that will be destroyed before they even land. Get prime packs to make your titans look cooler... on the menus only.
What better weapon to counter a titan than another titan?
-
Now I just imagine a fleet of Norhstars dodging anti-Titanfall weapons mid-air.
-
Edited by Lance: 6/15/2017 3:54:46 PMThey probably do, canonically and whatnot, but that wouldn't be fun for the game. Also, Warpfall, that shit would be hard to hit.
-
A shit ton of smart core legions???
-
Thing is Titans are used on both sides so making a weapon capable of shooting them down as they drop would risk such a weapon falling into the enemies hands and also giving them the ability to shoot down your Titans. As it is the military probably rely more on having better trained pilots and soldiers to win battles.

Edited by Sturm with no Drang: 6/15/2017 4:30:48 AMIn regards to the actual Titanfall universe, it does and does not make sense that they wouldn't make such a weapon. The amount of resources and funding that go into Titan production, their weapons, supplies manufacturer and so on must be quite expensive alone. If they had already planned on making such a weapon, they would need a considerable amount of time and funding in order to even make a design for such. The counter to this: we do already have an ample supply of Railgun cannons, which are incredibly devastating and there are also pre-existing automated weapon systems like turrets. It wouldn't be terribly difficult to implement a larger, more destructive version. All that would be needed is a very advanced target-acquisition system that has some means of quickly pinpointing airborne ordnance moving at high velocity (such as a Titan breaking orbit) and an equally advanced firing mechanism capable of quickly preparing and launching a projectile at enough force to utterly shred a Titan into a burning mess falling down unto the planet. Then, we fall into the logic that contradicts even having such a weapon on a battlefield. It would have to be very large (yet able to function rapidly) and demand an enormous power source to accommodate its systems. What you could expect is something akin to a powerful weapons platform that would probably be anchored down. That means that if it cannot be mobile then it would have to already be built into a foundation as a beforehand precaution in case if a battle involving Titans were to occur. There would be an extremely improbable chance that such a weapon platform would be able to discern between friendly and enemy Titanfalls. Next, we have the issue of if it gets into an enemy side's hands. The last thing that the IMC would want is a weapon built to fight off the Militia getting captured and used against themselves.

Why do we win every boss fight in games and not die? (Lore wise), look at Destiny for example. Guardian kills Atheon, Crota, Oryx, Aksis. Seems like they are invincible, though the ghosts can revive them. Why not kill the ghosts? Well D2 is sorta going that path, but guess what, Guardian figures out how to kill Ghaul, the end. Also, why would you even want to poke the Guardian if he took down a God, Oryx? Why didn't Oryx just straight up kill is with that clap when we spawn? Why didn't he use the Dreadnought to destroy Earth and the Traveler? Why didn't the Cabal send more reinforcements once they set those bombs, that would have been a instant solar system wipe. Why doesn't any boss just kill us as soon as they see us in any game? Games don't make sense.
-
I always thought about this, but no..... Respawn just had to put in over-the-top and unnecessary action.
-
Because shooting something falling that fast is hard, and if that projectile actually has the speed to hit a falling titan it probably isn't big enough to hurt the giant piece of metal
-
It would be close to impossible for a tracking system to be able to lock onto a target moving that fast and have a large enough payload to take it out.
-
Well for one thing they are kind of difficult to hit, they are falling at a very rapid speed being dropped form a ship, technically you would be better off aiming to destroy the ship rather then the titans, since the ship is probably a hittable target. The other problem is that we know you can make it so that your titans are essentially teleported down (it is one of the powers you can put on your titan), making it basically impossible to hit since it now falls pretty much instantaneous. This weapon would also have to be able to pierce through that shield that the titan drops with, and pretty much do it in one shot since i doubt it would have enough time for 2, and it would have to be extremely accurate since a weapon like that would be emplaced artillery, which means if it missed it would do a lot of damage to something you didnt want to hit. In the end there are just far better options, and it would not be worth it, on top of that we dont even seem to have weapons that can one shot a titan when it is on the ground, that is the really dumb part to me, how do we not have anything that is like artillery that deals massive damage to them?
