Why are so many people in high tier pvp, using hand cannons and never a pulse rifle, auto or scout? literally every match i have played, pve or pvp, i run into at least 2-4 hand cannons

Because people don't have Hawksaw. At least, not a Hawksaw with full range. Yeet.
-
Mate you should have been here in the great Thorning of year 1. I used it before it got popular and loved it
-
For me hand cannons feel more rewarding when you get the kill so I like to use them whenever I can. But my weapon choice ultimately comes down to whatever map is chosen.

Edited by ApexReaper_15: 5/29/2017 9:35:52 AMIncorrect. Palindrome is overused. Eyasluna is highly used. neither is OP. Palindrome is overused due to easy access, easy access to god rolls, user friendly, max range when all hand cannons without max range are shit, and its a really good gun. Eyasluna is used because if someone gets lucky enough to drop a good roll on that beast they will instantly become attached to it. But answer me this, when was the last time you saw a handcannon in the Pali archetype with lower range, devil you know? lord high fixer? finallas peril? the wail? hawk moon? well yes you will see these sometimes, but less than a pulse or even a doctrine or mida or even a burning eye type scout. When was the last time you saw handcannons in the other archetypes? thorn? the last word? ill will? free will? the water star? how dare you? the revelator, first curse, lingering song? This kind of thinking of 'Oh my god everyone is using palindrome handcannons must be OP nerf handcannons is what got REVELATOR, FUKING REVELATOR nerfed. the same logic that got the proud spire nerfed ffs when matador and party crasher were OP. blanket nerfs are lazy and stupid, I'm generally open to other opinions but if you think that if one weapon is overused, nerfing weapons in ANOTHER FUKING archetype is the right way to go then you are downright deluded.

Most top PvP players are also Hunters.. Hunters are overused too. :3
-
Short answer: PvP isn't balanced
-
Because a HC will be effective everywhere that their Ice Breaker isn't.
-
I like using autos but as soon as you start having high k/d games it's like you're pushed into try hard games where everyone is using a pali or eyasluna. Nothing can really compete with those things right now.
-
Hand Cannons are used because they kill quickly, are accurate in the air, and allow you to pop in and out of cover while still being deadly.
-
Hand cannons are in a terrible place right now. I tried using Hawkmoon after the last update. Didn't go well. I'm back to mida/hardlight depending on the map.
-
Hand cannons are good if you can use them. Personally I am not good with them which sucks because I have a god roll palindrome with icarus/triple tap, rangefinder, and luck in the chamber but i cant use it for shit 😭 but i also have 2 awesome rolled continental auto rifles that i do use rather efficiently
-
LMAO.. Just don't look at this weeks Vendor roll Pali.... TrueSight/HotSwap or Icarus/Rifled/ LitC Laughed so hard I dropped my Taco's!!!!!
-
Waaah lol.

Overused in Destiny since Special economy changes: Palindrome Eyesluna Wormwood Ice Breaker Mida (to a lesser extent) This meta is the stalest yet. Bring on Destiny 2!!
-
It's because hand cannons have a fast time to kill, are one of the only things even slightly accurate while air born and complement the way the majority of destiny's maps play. Not to mention they are really unique and fun to use!

Apparently you've never heard of META. This META only has 5 weapons in it, any others are out classed. Icebreaker is number 1 Palindrome/Eyasluna is number 2 Sidearms/Wormwood is number 3 Hawksaw arch type pulse is number 4 No Land Beyond is number 5

Edited by panzerfaust: 5/29/2017 12:37:32 PMSniper bodyshot + Hand Cannon shot... I mean, this whole meta was never to help average players (large bulk of the community?), but instead was 'tailor made' for streamers... My theory is that by pleasing them giving them the game as they like to play it (and where they have a competitive advantage over all, either by hardware mods which make airborn game very easy) so they can push in cool reviews for D2... I would call it 'the streamer bribe' meta ;) PS: stickies? Improved air precision, etc...

Hancannons are 4taps, 2 or 3 with the right perks
-
hand cannons have the widest skillgap and shortest potential TTK. you can only reach that potential TTK if you are at the top of that skillgap though.
please dont tell me auto rifles or pulses take more skill than hand cannons. just dont.
-
Hand cannons are fun. Nuf said.
-
Because they are superior to everything else. You cant beat a person who can constantly 3 tap.
-
My imago is supreme
Luck in the chamber, explosive rounds, rangefinder.
What's a PvP?
-
I'd consider myself highly skilled in PvP, and I agree that pulse rifles are insanely consistent if you have a good aim. I used Thorn for a bit in Y1 sweats, but other than that I've always used a pulse as my main.

Edited by Talia Sendua: 5/29/2017 5:46:43 PMHe's right... The amount of Hand Cannons is ridiculous overuse. I still stick to my Auto Rifles.
