The titaness captain picked her rifle from off the ground, then looked the team over. "You know, you could have killed this rogue, ended it here and now. But, thanks to you, we have to chase him down... a third time!" She said as she poked Dakota's chestplate with a stern finger.
"Says the titan squad leader that got her a** handed to her..." Blake mumbled with a fake cough.
"What was that, Titan?" The City Guard asked as she confidently walked toward Blake.
Dakota placed a hand on her shoulder and pushed her back. "Captain... Carter," Dakota said after reading the engraved name on her armor. "I suggest you get back to finding this Guardian, instead of starting a fight with us..." It was such a kind request, but the venom in Dakota's deep voice made it so threatening.
The titaness, Captain Carter, took some steps back and shifted her shoulders. "Come on, boys, back to work!" She ordered. The squad of titans ran down the road; the same road the hunter took.
Dakota turned his head to Blake. "Next time, keep it to yourself," he said. Blake threw up his hands defensively and shook his head.
"I can't believe it!" Kourtney shouted after lifting her head out of her hands. "Alan, our Alan, is the rogue?! The killer?!"
"If you all remember, SIVA was found in Alan's ship. It appears the Technomancer got to him first," Doc said after appearing to scan the nanites. "Ripped his brain right out of him and planted an artificial one. My God, it's brilliant! I wonder how she does it!" The ghost exclaimed excitedly. Kourtney started to cry even more!
"Doc, shut up!" Blake ordered in a sinister tone. "This isn't the time,"
"Au contraire. Any time is a great time for discovery!" The ghost replied.
"Why didn't he fight us?" Monica asked. "He took down ten or more titans... but he ran from us..."
"I'm not sure," Dakota said.
"You know, he-- of death-- didn't kill a single titan..." T.C. said after appearing above Dakota's shoulder. Everyone froze, then slowly turned to the orange and white ghost.
"Yeah, that's right. Alan was caught killing an innocent man... So, why not kill people attacking you?" Blake inquired.
"We need to figure out what's going on... now!" Dakota said. "Especially before the City Guard does something they'd regret,"
"I think I saw him go this way!" Yelled a voice in the distance. The sound of running feet grew ever louder.
I hid behind a wall and caught my breath. I peaked around to see if the titans were coming down the street; thankfully they weren't. "Colt! Colt, they discovered me! And now, Wolf Pack is after me too! Colt!!" There was no reply. Then, it occurred to me that I was no longer wearing my helmet. I sighed deeply from frustration.
"Remember! Shoot to kill!" Said Captain Carter.
"Uh, oh..." I said to myself. I was on the run again.
I ran down an alleyway, trying to stay off the road. I ran around a corner, then crashed into an unexpected figure. I fell to the ground, then looked up. The warlock spun around, and looked down at me.
"You're the rogue?!" She exclaimed.
"When will I get a f***in' break?!" I screamed. I climbed to my feet and tried to run, but the warlock force pushed me into a wall. I tried to move, but the warlock continued to force push me.
With her free hand, the warlock pressed the radio on her helmet. "I have the rogue! My location is--" her head snapped to the left suddenly, breaking her neck. The body fell to the ground, limp as a... dead... body.
I also fell to the ground, but I was able to get back up. The Guardian deactivated his cloaking, and slowly reappeared; as if his invisibility melted away. He was wearing a steel grey and mustard yellow combat harness. It had thick plates, but not enough to hinder agility. He carried a massive pump-action shotgun, and a massive fifty caliber sniper rifle was hooked on his back. Everything he had was military grade equipment. "My employer wants you alive..." his helmet had a filter that made his voice very deep and acoustic sounding; it was quite menacing.
"Why?..." I asked, highly suspicious and afraid of this new character.
"He would like to meet you..." the man replied.
"Oh, yeah? That's great!" I exclaimed. "I'd be more than happy to meet with your employer, as long as you help me keep the City Guard off of my tail!" I exclaimed while getting to my feet.
Without another word, the figure turned on his active camouflage and vanished into thin air. I sighed deeply again. "Fantasic..." I said to myself.
"I see him!" Said a voice behind me. I turned to see the titans running at me again! My eyes grew big, and my adrenaline was pumping again! I quickly turned tail and ran!
I ran across streets, down alleyways, and through buildings. Even though the titans were close behind, my evading began to give me an advantage.
When I was a good distance ahead of the City Guard where they couldn't see me, I jumped into an abandoned structure on the edge of a street. I shut and locked the doors immediately, then tried to catch my breath... Again. I watched as the patrol ran right by. They had no idea I was here.
"And what the h*** do you think you're doing?..."
