From a Warlock perspective, Warlocks always made fun of Titans & Hunters for just using Elemental energies as an extension for their weapons. Being a Warlock (as Ikora would say) is about channeling your inner Elemental energy, Mastering it, becoming said Elemental power, Dawnblade doesn't do that, they're becoming exactly what they made fun of.
Heck even the New Striker is now more Warlock than a Warlock since it about fully submerging yourself in Arc energy!
Dawnblade is still an interesting Subclass, nonetheless, but it just doesn't fit with what it means to be a Warlock, could it be from the result of their severed connections to Traveler?

Shooting guns on a moon covered in a methane ocean (Titan) doesn't make sense either, it would ignite everything. It's just Artistic License

See, I had the exact opposite reaction; that the Dawnblade subclass made perfect sense for my Warlock. After running around Rise of Iron as a Sunsinger and swinging around Young Wolf's Howl, the Dawnblade felt like a natural evolution.
