Long story short, for those that haven't heard. Joss Whedon has replaced Zack Snyder as the director of Justice League. Zack Snyder and his wife dropped out of the film's production recently, the official reason finally being given, back in March Zack Snyder's 20 year old daughter committed suicide. And while I still believe he has bastardized the DCEU so far with Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, my condolences go out to he and his wife.
That being said, what are people's thoughts on Joss Whedon replacing Snyder? For those that don't know, Whedon has already signed on to direct a solo Batgirl film for the DCEU, because why wouldn't he. No other director knows strong female characters the way he does. In a recent interview a source close to studio execs at Warner Bros said that the film is going back for extensive reshoots. "Enough to shoot the film twice over" according to the source. Warner Bros execs have also stated that despite Snyder's departure and Whedon taking over, the film will still release this November. The question is, will this still be the same Justice League film that Snyder had in mind, or will Whedon make it his own?
I'll be honest, after Avengers: Age of Ultron... I'm a little hesitant. I know I'm probably gonna get hate for this from some Whedon purists, but the man ain't what he use to be. The glory days of Firefly, Buffy, and Angel are over. Age of Ultron is all the proof you need. We all know that films recycle plot points from older films all the time, but pay close attention. Age of Ultron's basic plot structure is ripped straight from the original 1990 live action TMNT film. Watch them side by side and you'll be amazed at the similarities. Whedon wasn't subtle in the least when he ripped off TMNT.
