/play/
Subject 34 excels in melee combat. His arms are a flurry during fist to fist combat, and he is absolutely deadly with a bladed weapon. This is likely to be the first mutation caused by the Contract; melee prowess.
Subject 34's senses are terrifyingly sensitive. He is likely able to hear this typing right this moment; which is why I must document this quickly. In addition to his senses, his reaction is also extremely quick; after lengthy calculations it's been determined to be around .1 seconds. We believe that these are more Contract mutations.
Additionally, Subject 34's regular physical abilities; strength, speed, endurance, etc. are all highly enhanced beyond normal human capacity. This is also likely a Contract mutation.
But stranger than all of this is a substance that my college professor liked to call 'firetricity', an infusion of fire and electricity that mages are able to utilize. It's an extreme deadly form of energy, and I know not a single mage capable to utilizing it safely; however, our cameras have spotted Subject 34 near black lightning along with green flames, seemingly infused together—

/play/
"I don't know who you're talking about."
"You know full well, Dr. Roser."
"No, I'm certain that I–"
The sound of a face being slammed into a table.
"I said, I don't know–"
"Damn liar!"
The sound is repeated.
"Y-you'll never make me talk...."
A moment of silence.
"I sure will, Dr. Roser."
Indistinct noises.
"... I don't know much about Vance's specific early childhood; all of the Contractees have similar stories. They're weak. They want power, to exact revenge or take care of any unfinished business. I don't believe Vance is any exception to this; maybe the loss of a loved one or close friend triggered the burning willpower and desire that all Contractees begin their new lives with.
The Contractor for Vance was a Scorpion. I wasn't told any other specifics about the Contract. From observations, Vance's contract had at least double the potency compared to other contractees. So of course he blew the complex up, killing multiple other Contractees and scientists.
We've put out a wanted poster, and he's currently still at large, has been for years. No massive incidents have occurred since his escape, so it's difficult to pinpoint his location."
"What's a Contractor? And a Contractee?"
"A Contractor is a being. We don't know what kind, but we do know that they are beings of extraordinary magical power; we have absolutely no method of locating them, estimating when they appear, or anything of the like. We call them Contractors because they always appear by weak children; children with a great amount of anger or sadness in their hearts. They form... well, contracts with these children.
The children are Contractees. Upon forming the contract, our technology is able to locate a new form of magic that is purely on the mortal plane–our plane of existence, so to speak. We find these Contractees, and we take them into our labs to study extensively; generally, we are equipped enough to subdue the young ones. We don't know what it's like to face a full grown one.
Once they're in our lab, we watch as the contract does its work, running extensive tests daily. We start to notice improvements in many physical departments; senses, reaction, and strength, for example. Blood tests revealed that the Contractee's DNA changes massively from when they are first taken in compared to later on. I won't go into specifics, since you probably won't understa–"
The sound of a head being slammed into a table once more.
"... h-however what we don't understand are the magical abilities Contractees get. We know that every Contractee's abilities and enhancements vary based on their Contractor, and we assume that magical abilities are also like this, but research on them is... difficult to impossible.
Anyways, I've told you all I know. May I go, or are you giving me that gun to eat?"
A gunshot is audibly heard.
