Each of these swordsmen utilized a family sword style; Statim, meaning 'immediately' in Latin. This is also their surname. In order to utilize this combat style, however, each member of the family must undergo absolutely brutal physical training. Strength, speed, endurance, tolerance, reaction time. These must all be enhanced to almost the maximum for a human, in order for the users of this style to not harm themselves attempting it. Even with the amount of endurance training users undergo, the Statim Style still requires a huge amount of stamina. Like her parents, Jocelyn underwent this training. Of her four siblings, she was the middle child; third oldest, third youngest. She was by no means the most prodigious; that was her youngest sibling. She was by no means the most skilled; that was her eldest brother. In fact, her parents considered her a... failure. Everybody in the village which the Statim family knew them, knew everything about them. Besides _; as far as the village knew, the family had four children, not five. Eventually, the fateful night came; the night that the Statim parents decided that Jocelyn would never follow in their footsteps. Not much is known about that night; only that the house was burned down, and from the village's inspections, all occupants killed in the fire, their bodies found; two parents, and their four children. They believed that the Statim family was wiped out, but they were not aware of the fifth child. It would remain that way; the world would never be aware that there was a fifth child that had survived the fire. Now, the years having passed, the fifth child has arrived at the Dojo; and despite what her siblings believed, she most certainly was not the weakest.
