I'm not against matchmaking but it shouldn't stop people from raiding. If you really wanted to raid you would find a team or clan and raid.
Matchmaking hasn't worked out great with simple strikes in my experience at times.
I'd hate to have the same experiences in a harder activity that could end up taking hours with afk and people without mics etc.

With optional matchmaking you could choose not to matchmake. If you choose not to matchmake you could enter the activity alone or with your fireteam.

It's gonna stop them from raiding, because that 80% is also more casual than a man with 5 kids and three jobs that can only play 20 minutes every month.
-
If you put enough effort in you will find at least 5 people with that very same implausible situation to play with who can schedule a time to play that suits everyone. Lack of matchmaking isn't a good enough excuse for lack of effort.
-
Yes, I'm sure, but as I mentioned before they're casuals. They don't exactly want to go to external areas from the game to find people if they don't have any friends to do it with.
-
Yeah. It's daunting at first, I had no friends to play with when I started. Found 5 great guys to run VOG with on LFG and a few weeks later joined a clan. Been in a few clans since and have built up a decent amount of friends and would be able to sort out a raid team whenever needed now. This is from a person that hadn't even used a mic until I got destiny. If you're not using apps along with playing destiny by now anyway you're doing it wrong in my opinion.

I basically sound like a five year old, so I get kicked out of every team.
-
That sucks. Lfg is a horrible place at the best of times but if you stick at it you always find some good people. I really sucked in my first raids (still do) but I've rarely had to back out because the team were being dicks about it.

Edited by DarkMythos: 5/14/2017 11:18:24 PMI remember doing VoG and Crota with randoms on LFG, good times. Then TTK came about and I fell behind the curve and everyone's like "MUST HAVE BEATEN IT 700000000 TIMES!!!!!!" I did attempt it, but never managed to actually finish off Oryx.
-
Same here. I finished normal but never got hard mode done. That raid really amplified the dick in everyone.
-
It didn't help that it was mechanically challenging. Do you how long it took to muster a good enough team to actually get past Golgoroth? I was stuck on him for weeks.
-
I ran the hard raid with my usual team and blitzed it up until oryx but for some reason it just never happened and we all ended up just getting pissed off and disinterested. Stopped playing for a few months during ttk. Haven't done the new raid on hard mode at all either cos meh.

I haven't even tried WotM. Don't know what it's like, haven't seen any gameplay for it. I just plopped in to get the grimoire card and never came back.

That's an extremely fun short raid.
