WASHINGTON — President Trump has dismissed the director of the F.B.I., James B. Comey, on the recommendation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the White House spokesman, Sean Spicer, said Tuesday.
“While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgment of the Department of Justice that you are not able to effectively lead the bureau,” Mr. Trump said in a letter to Mr. Comey dated Tuesday.
It is essential that we find new leadership for the F.B.I. that restores public trust and confidence in its vital law enforcement mission,” Mr. Trump wrote.
Officials at the F.B.I. said they were not immediately aware of Mr. Comey’s dismissal.
In a separate letter released at the White House, Mr. Spicer said that the president informed the director that he has been “terminated and removed from office.”
“The F.B.I. is one of our nation’s most cherished and respected institutions and today will mark a new beginning for our crown jewel of law enforcement,” Mr. Trump said in the statement.

Hey, look at it this way, at least he got to keep his life. If Hillary had won, Comey would have been found dead from "mysterious circumstances".

As the Trump Train bounced off the tracks and crashed through the guardrail, it began to plummet into the deep ravine below, where the last noise was the diminishing echo of its occupants, calling out in unison, "Yeah, but Hillary..."
-
Have you heard Colbert talk about it on his show? Initially, everyone cheered, but that was before they were told not to because it made the move look good. It makes sense though, since less than a week ago Comey was still getting blamed by liberals for destroying Hillary's chances of winning.

Edited by tjustie: 5/10/2017 3:14:52 AMHonestly, this all seems a little fishy to me given the timing, the context and reasoning behind the firing, and that, in my opinion, completely out of place line about the investigation in the middle of Trump's letter (although maybe that's just Trump being Trump). I guess we'll just have to see how the investigation plays out from here and how Trump's appointee and/or special prosecutor handle it.

I wanted to make some sarcastic comment like "Totally not a coverup. Completely coincidental," but then I remembered there are people how will try to justify this and it makes me too sad to be funny.

Good. -blam!- that guy. That whole mishandling of sensitive material involving Killary Clinton thing should have cost him his job before. Had it been anyone else they would have hung them out to dry. Trey Gowdy must be giggling with glee right now. Good -blam!-ing riddance.

Edited by Mad Max: 5/9/2017 10:16:53 PMComey probably got a little to close to Trump's ties to Russia. When's the last time a president fired the FBI director? Nixon. How did that turn out, hm?

He had some interesting ideas about law enforcement. Like when Huma Abedin forwarded confidential documents to her husband's laptop. He said he didn't recommend pressing charges because it couldn't be proved that they intended to break the law. Everybody in govt knows about proper handling of sensitive, confidential documents, what you can and cannot do with them. They knew they were breaking the law and did it anyway. So he can't figure out their motives. So what. They broke the law and he believed they should get a pass. If you or I did the same thing we'd be in cuffs before you could say "federal offense."

Sessions led to this firing. That's complete horseshit. Sessions has something to hide.
