Little is known about what awaits us in D2. However, something I feel would be welcome addition to the Destiny investment system is a set of skills or a skill tree that offers players the ability to "spec", if you will, into a specific weapon style. This would not only provide users with more variety, but also allow players to build a character to be more effective with a specific weapon than some other guardian who may have chosen a different path, and vice versa.
General character skills that offer advancement in different aspects of game play can help builds feel more exclusive and offer players the feeling that there is more to building a character than just a few simple decisions.

One more concept format

I decided to create one more new concept format.
This one would allow you to upgrade and pick each option similarly but it would save the Element damage addition until almost the end. Then once you have chosen the element you want, as seen in the picture, you would have an option of 1 of 3 perks to pick from. One of which would always be double down for the element of choice. Meaning if you spent all the time to complete your weapon pathway you would be a beast with that weapon style.
Examples
Guardian A loves Hand Cannons
- chooses perk that increases all damage done with hand cannons
- chooses perk that increases agility while using a hand cannon
- chooses perk that grants 1 extra perk on hand cannons when equipped
- chooses perk that grants extra armor while in close proximity to enemies
Guardian B loves Scout Rifles
- chooses perk that increases all damage done with scout rifles
- chooses perk that increases scout rifle range
- chooses perk that reduces scope sway when hit
- ...the list goes on
This can also be implemented on other aspects of the character as well.
Such as:
Guardian A loves agility and the ability to run fast and jump high.
- chooses perks that benefit those characteristics
while Guardian B just wants to face tank everything but doesn't care about move speed
- chooses perks that will increase armor and the associated characteristics
Of course these perks would most likely have to be ineffective during crucible play just to keep crucible easier to balance.
These skills would be purchased using points you earn as you level up and such. (If they wanted to take it a step further, they could even allow the perks to be able to level up continually, indefinitely, making you more and more powerful. But considering that the enemies would then have to increase in difficulty to keep the game challenging, that may be a little beyond the scope of a Destiny game.)
Please tell me what you guys think in the comments below. I'd love to have some more thoughts on this idea.

Decided to add this because it could be important:
The war over primary elemental damage could be solved with this system. Essentially as you pick a weapon path and begin to build it, eventually you could earn the ability to apply elemental damage to that weapon style. However, all other primaries would still have no element when you use them.

Would give the game more depth and freedom how to progress your caracter. Dont know if Bungie is up for that kind of thing, they tend to keep us on a tight leash most of the time. This would involve a huge change for the hole format of Destiny, if they want this kind of change to work. Elitisme will also rears its ugly head i am afread. Like how you think though , this would work for me. Cheers.

Very cool man

I posted a new concept link up. This one is a little different but it still keeps to the similar destiny current style. http://imgur.com/njUiIyJ

Bump Finally, some good feedback

Edited by Swiftlock: 5/9/2017 9:29:01 PMGive it a week or two and everyone will just dogpile onto whatever build performs best in PvP. Then people will complain, Bungie will nerf that build, and then people will move onto the next best option. Then people will complain, Bungie will nerf that build, and then...

Excellent But I think this "tree" should look better, & be more detailed. I don't want to look @ the same shit I'm d2 Love the concept though , better than what we have.

I'm sure with two months to go they're going to implement these entirely new features.

Interesting, but I don't think this is realistic. What I would like to see is class exclusive weapon types
-
Bump for an added link to concept art on the idea.

Phantasy Star Universe did this and it provided a ton of variety in the player base. I was a "Fighgunner", so I specialized in pistol and sword combo. There were 20 or so weapon archetypes, you could use almost any weapon, but you could only use A and S class of the ones in your class. I loved that system.

Hell yes and please
