Yes.
In Forza I was able to use my favorite cars on new tracks, with better graphics, while amassing a new collection of different ones.
In Madden, I was able to import a player from an entirely different game (NCAA) football, draft them out of college, and into the new roster, with better physics, playability, and graphics, with new challenges.
And lastly, in Halo series, I was able to start with the same battle rifle in Halo 2 that I used in Halo. One might think Halo isn't the same. But I think I addressed your point sufficiently. Not only did I get the same weapons, but I had new missions, with the same green shader, alt weapons, and same armor as well (that I ended the previous game with). Too bad Destiny can't deliver that much. Must be limited by XBOX and PS2 capabilities.
