The Guardian Thief Ch. 9: A Kell and his Guardian

Avilon paced around the throne room. His lower arms were crossed while the upper pair flailed around as he spoke. "My Kell, we are not making any progress sitting in this d***ed den. If we are to grow-- to prosper-- we must get out there. Alliances aren't working anymore. It's time we show who we really are: Thieves!" "Must I remind you, Avilon, it was you that failed peace treaties? Kings refused to give aid. Wolves wanted to stay in Prison of Elders instead of join you. Even House Exiles, more content staying on rock, than working with non-Eliksni..." Aviksis and Avilon spoke English for private conversations. "That can't be," Avilon stated. The exo's programs ran several memories: each one ending with refusal... each one because he was a Risen. "I'm as much Eliksni as any vandal in here!" He shouted in denial. "No, you are not! You wish to be Eliksni, you wish to be one of us! But you are not! You look like us, but you never be us..." the Kell picked fruits off his plate and enjoyed their sweet taste. Avilon sighed. He was an exo, based on a human's conscious. "That may be true... But let me change that!" "How?" "Anoint me baron! Let me lead our army and take over the weak! The Wolves, the Exiled, they are scattered and failing. We gave them a chance to come peacefully, but let's show them that they will join us or become extinct!" "Never!" Aviksis roared. Every Fallen turned to him. "Baron reserved for purest Eliksni blood! That of which, you don't have." "My Kell, we're missing an opportunity! With my schemes and your ambitions, this House could be--" "Silence!!" The Kell shouted while sitting forward in his throne. Avilon shut off his speakers. "I am no captain! I am Kell, and you will talk to me as such! You scheme? You do not scheme! I lead House, you obey!" "Every leader needs an advisor..." Avilon said softly. Aviksis slammed his fist on the arm of the throne, "I said 'silence'! I let you stay in my court, but you are no more than vandal. Though, events may be signs, you are less: a dreg... Your word is that, Avilon, just words. They have no influence over my kellship!" Avilon saw the game the Eliksni was playing, and he had a card ready for it. "Actually, my Kell, I have five words that could turn your whole House against you... And you know what those words are, Aviksis..." "You would not dare, Avilon. Even if they believed you, some still loyal to me..." "Loyal? Loyal? We're a bunch of pirates! We are loyal to three things, and only three things: religion, ether, riches..." Avilon held his arms out wide. "Oh... and I would dare. Tell me, Aviksis. What are those five words?" Aviksis shunned away from the hunter and growled. "Tell me, or I say it where everyone understands me!" Avilon shouted as blackmail. The Kell was startled. He inhaled deeply. "You are a living machine..." "Bingo!!" Avilon shouted. He began parading around as if he owned the court. "Recent events have been signs that you are no longer the leader that you once were... I do believe an exchange of power is at hand," an evil smile formed on Avilon's face, but his Eliksni helmet hid it. "Avilon, if you tell House you are living machine, House will break! Civil war will start! Devils and SIVA left scar on our beliefs..." Aviksis said, pleading for mercy. "Oh, s***! I'm not gonna tell them what I am! Not yet, at least... I'll stick to tradition," Avilon spun his shock pistol on his finger. "What do you mean?" Aviksis asked. "I mean, I challenge you! The ol' Thief Gambit!" Avilon beat his chest, taunting the Kell. "You dare challenge me?!" Aviksis gritted his teeth. "Shall I make it official?..." The exo asked. "You may be machine, Avilon, but I still destroy you!" The Kell growled. "It's official," Avilon turned to all the vandals and captains in the chamber. "Gie dra nassa ka! Gie dra nassa ka!" Avilon threw his arms in the air, getting the Fallen worked up. "Gie Dra nassa ka! Gie Dra nassa ka!" The Eliksni shouted back. "She'lot Erah!!" Avilon shouted as he pointed at the Kell. Everyone fell silent. This wasn't some mad Fallen who wanted to fight the Kell, this was a Fallen who planned to overthrow the Kell. Aviksis looked around the chamber. Just the small group of Eliksni in here seemed divided. Some cheered with Avilon while others were displeased and growled. "You make poor choice, Avilon..." the Kell said in a quiet, furious voice. "Oh, I don't think so!" The exo replied. Soon, a couple of Kell's Guard dragged Avilon out of the chamber, and the doors were shut. It was a big help in this story, and will continue to be so!https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/122860874/0/0
Gie Dra nassa ka!
"The Kell shall burn!"
