Taken King chapter 17 part 2

I really am sorry guys :( grade 12 blows. Jk it sucks...away all my time. Here's a short one. Hopefully it makes up for it in quality. I can happily say that i think theyre improving! As Ikora and Zavala filed out of the room along side the field commanders, Cayde gave us a nod to hold up. The room’s sliding doors closed behind the last of them, after a few seconds, the hunter Vanguard waved and said, “Come with me.” He entered the room to the left of the entrance after dialing in a clearance code. The two of us followed him in and several rows of lights flickered to life on the ceiling. The room was similar to the one we had just come from, but slightly smaller; pentagonal in shape, with one side being taken up by the doorway, three others with benches and displays, and the fifth served as a staircase. The middle of the room was open, and the ceiling was relatively low with the lights emanating out from the center of the pentagon in a spoke pattern. Just like the last time it appeared, Orek seemed to form from the shadows inna a corner of the room and step forward, his long grey robes dragging on the floor. “I think the three of you have some catching up to do, no?” Cayde raised a metal eyebrow, “I’d say have a seat and take your sweet time, but, uh… don’t. I think our friend in white’s about to pull something…” He rubbed his hand on his chin, thinking to himself, before snapping back to reality. “I’ll slow him down. Something stupid and bureaucratic. Works every time. Have fun, try not to get killed, represent the vanguard well, yadda yadda.” The doors locked with a click as he left, and I turned to Sierra who retrieved the glassy black stone from her pocket. Echo appeared next to me with a tiny flash, “Wow. Dramatic day.” “Not over yet.” Scarlet chirped, also flashing into existence. “Let’s just do this and get back out in the field.” Sierra said, handing me the stone. I took it from her and ran my thumb over the runic writing. As I held it out to Orek, he took a long raspy breath and said, “I sense the wisdom of the old ones… this will please the greaters.” It snatched the stone from me, and in it’s hand, the tiny, glyphed piece of rock flashed, as it had before. “Yes…” Orek rasped, “You have done well child of light. The minds of The Nine prove true… The Strider of Depths may fall yet…” With that, the robed humanoid held out its had toward me. I took a small step back as its glove clad hand rose up to level with my eyes. “ Be still…” Orek said as I began to feel a foreign sensation at the base of my skull. The cold, tingling grew as it closed it’s eyes. “Grant? Grant!” Sierra’s voice became fuzzy and I could feel myself fading in and out of consciousness. With a flash, the room around me disappeared, replaced instead by the murky green skies and crumbling dark stone walls of the Hive Netherworld. The nightmarish fortress that had once been Crota’s seat of power, and the resting place of many sons and daughters of the Light. The shattered oversoul that once burned bright like a twisted green star, hung far above casting a dull glow across the monolithic black towers. Another flash of blinding white, and now I stood in front of a stone wall with three familiar triangles carved into it. With a thunderous roar, the stone split, revealing a vast chamber on the other side, bathed in sparkling light. The light rapidly grew brighter until it consumed my vision once again. This time I stared out at the black garden from an elevated stone platform where I had been once before. The massive metal structure that once held the heart of darkness cast its oppressive shadow onto the Vex architecture below, now overgrown with vines that crawled down from the walls of unnatural sheer rock. The air around me suddenly shifted, a thick haze descended on the ruin, and the great shadow cast by the metal ring coalesced into a figure wreathed in darkness. As a low groan began to sound out from the depths of my mind, I tried to take a step away, but found my feet frozen to the ground. The figure began to turn, absorbing more shadow while its form grew in size. The groan grew louder and louder and transformed into booming laughter. Sinister and overwhelming, the noise sent splitting pain through my head. I tried to recoil in agony, but the rest of my body was too locked in place, my eyes were glued against my will to the now monstrous figure. My lungs began to burn and my vision blurred as even my breathing had stopped. The figure’s face became visible for only an instant long enough to see a horned head and a trio of impossibly bright, glowing eyes. “I AM YOUR KING” the four words ripped through the laughter as darkness took me. My eyes shot open and my chest exploded into a fit of gasping coughing, a burning sensation racked my lungs and my body convulsed as I struggled for air. I found myself on the cold metal floor of the pentagonal room as my eyesight returned to me and two arms pulled me into a hug. I put one arm around Sierra as my heavy breathing continued and I began to recognised the taste of blood in my mouth, running down from my nose. When she released me from her embrace and I wiped the blood from my face, i noticed her hand cannon was not only drawn but cocked. Orek was gone. The smooth black stone I had handed to him lay on the floor where he once stood. Prologue/directory: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/139146382?sort=0&page=0
