my serious thoughts is that destiny was made more for the money than for the fans; with halo having nothing to stand on and no money, being picked up by microsoft was a huge deal for them, and they put everything into the quality of content rather than making the extra buck
everything in destiny is designed first and foremost to make money; either an item they think people will latch on to in order to PREORDER the game, or a patch that will GET YOU TO BUY EVERVERSE, or a cool clip that will MAKE YOU COME BACK FOR DLC - - making money isn't a crime, and it's good to support yourself and your family, but there is no soul here
destiny only flourished off the namesake of BUNGIE, the creators of the original Halo, the game would never have sold so well, nor would it have had such a continued fan base without that prestige, - - i, like many others, are on the final straw in Destiny 2 - - if they haven't learned 100% what TO DO, and what NOT TO DO, it'll be the last Bungie title i ever support
MOVING ON TO THE MEAT
the fact that there is no story, and no drive to positive player action in the post-game, there are too many children in destiny - - too many kids who "-blam!-" your mom, too many children that "know exactly what to do bro" - - too many infants who are, quite frankly, -blam!-ing retarded
the learning curve is so massive, i have heard of the stress and insanity of this game's LFG being used as a construct model for the psychological state of mass murderers and sociopaths
the game should have focused on story above all else, in a true open world - - a complete Platinum playthrough should have taken over 100 hours, and end-game should have been about a Hoard Mode, with crucible being something fun to do on the side, but nothing serious
trials of osiris is the worst thing that has ever happened to this game, even more than the lag, non-dedicated servers, and ever weapon patch of all time
anyhow, i'm about -blam!-ing tired as shit and pretty pissed off, i think that's good enough for now

You can have a good story and dark themes in a T-rated game, it all depends on the ability of the writers. I remember battlefront II having one of my favorite stories in a star wars game. Also remember wing commander prophecy having torture, human disection, the threat of being captured by the enemy, and an imminent danger looming as a consequence of failure. I personally enjoyed the themes of unity and betrayal in ace combat 5, though I'm sure others may disagree with me on that one. All with a T-rating. What I see a lot of people looking for when they ask for an M-rating is fan-service in claim of a better story. Usually in the form of blood, swearing, and nudity. The first point makes sense: blood allows for more in-depth depictions of violence. It let's you get a better picture of an event when exploring areas left standing in their aftermath. Seeing trails of people who frantically tried to escape, pools leaking out from closet and container doors as result failed attempts to hide, piles of bodies left behind to rot... all having an impact to show the ruthless, inhuman nature of your enemies. ... but that's not what people usually mean when making this request. They want more instant visuals from their actions, like chainsawing an enemy in gears of war and dismembering enemies in dead space. What these people fail to understand is that these depictions fit into the nature of the games they're shown in. They work because they serve a purpose and are the result of the game's mechanics. If destiny were to have a more graphic depiction of violence, the only form that would really work is disintegration. This fits into the established powers of destiny and doesn't go against the established explanations for the existing headshot animations. As for swearing, there is again a smart way to implement it into a game. All of the games mentioned in my second paragraph contain swearing, yet hold a T-rating. Despite what many think, meaningful conversation can exist without swears being pushed in for "realism." In fact, given the established academic, prophetic, and "noble" nature of a majority of destiny's main characters, it would go against their character to swear. The player's character is a different story though, but not call for swearing to be a constant in the game. It just doesn't fit into destiny in general. Nudity is an altogether different animal. Yes, this can easily exist in destiny, especially with respect to the hive, which could easily show both male and female nudity. Maybe even as scenes of romance involving your character or npc's. But is it necessary? Will it add depth to the game? The story? Or will it just be fan service? While it can exist in destiny, there needs to be a solid reason as to why it's there. You can't just throw in nudity because you want to. I like the Metro games, it tells an interesting story with several dark themes through several mediums. The lap dance and top malfunction during the sudden romance scenes do not add to this story, they kind of distract you from it. Story needs to be the main focus of destiny 2. If these "mature" elements are used in a way that makes the story better, great. But forcing them in to give the game a higher rating will offer destiny about as much improvement as it did for Duke Nukem Forever.
