my serious thoughts is that destiny was made more for the money than for the fans; with halo having nothing to stand on and no money, being picked up by microsoft was a huge deal for them, and they put everything into the quality of content rather than making the extra buck
everything in destiny is designed first and foremost to make money; either an item they think people will latch on to in order to PREORDER the game, or a patch that will GET YOU TO BUY EVERVERSE, or a cool clip that will MAKE YOU COME BACK FOR DLC - - making money isn't a crime, and it's good to support yourself and your family, but there is no soul here
destiny only flourished off the namesake of BUNGIE, the creators of the original Halo, the game would never have sold so well, nor would it have had such a continued fan base without that prestige, - - i, like many others, are on the final straw in Destiny 2 - - if they haven't learned 100% what TO DO, and what NOT TO DO, it'll be the last Bungie title i ever support
MOVING ON TO THE MEAT
the fact that there is no story, and no drive to positive player action in the post-game, there are too many children in destiny - - too many kids who "-blam!-" your mom, too many children that "know exactly what to do bro" - - too many infants who are, quite frankly, -blam!-ing retarded
the learning curve is so massive, i have heard of the stress and insanity of this game's LFG being used as a construct model for the psychological state of mass murderers and sociopaths
the game should have focused on story above all else, in a true open world - - a complete Platinum playthrough should have taken over 100 hours, and end-game should have been about a Hoard Mode, with crucible being something fun to do on the side, but nothing serious
trials of osiris is the worst thing that has ever happened to this game, even more than the lag, non-dedicated servers, and ever weapon patch of all time
anyhow, i'm about -blam!-ing tired as shit and pretty pissed off, i think that's good enough for now

Edited by QuietNumber 23: 4/25/2017 5:13:39 PMPVP is pretty much the only thing that keeps me and my friends coming back to Destiny, and there is alot of PVP only player out there and removing any ways to just enjoy the game in that way would be foolish and insulting. Do you know how many Destiny streamers play only PVP? And you also seem to want a game that Destiny isn't, Destiny isn't skyrim with guns but thats what you seem to be asking for. And what are you even talking about when you say children? Absolutely no one uses game chat so they can't trash talk you, and if you let some annoying kid join your fireteam and stay that's on you. Just kick them or don't invite them in the first place. You also talk about how we " need " a PVE horde mode when we already have multiple versions of just that, AND THEY ALL SUCKED. You seem to clearly hate Destiny in this post and some of your recent activity, so why are you still here? Yes I've heard that " dur there isn't many game like a destiny so I still play it ", but if you genuinely stop enjoying something why torture your self and continue to play it? I've had to take month long brakes from Destiny because of how frustrating it can be at times but I always come back because I still really enjoy the game, and I still really enjoy the community on places like LFG and the Destiny Sub-Reddit. All you are to me is another salty post on a website I once loved, posts like these ruined this place for me. Bungie.net was never prefect but every time I comeback here just to see if things have gotten better I shed a single tear because it never does. Its the same dumb, salty, ill-informed posts about how " broken " Destiny is and how they are never going to play it again while they have three 400 light characters and they continue playing after they said they would stop. Any ways sorry for the huge ass rant, years of seeing this site go down hill went into this so.....enjoy???

I too remember the glory days of Halo, when Bungie operated as a charity. I remember how they developed five Halo titles and gave them away to me and all their other loyal fans. I definitely don't remember being t-bagged and hearing racial slurs over local chat from squeeking 10 year old prodigies. Get real dude. Literally the only reason why Halo was rated M was because of blood spatter. Nothing else makes it a "Mature" game, not as far as the ESRB is concerned. I love the Halo series, but there isn't 100 hours of campaign playtime across Halo: CE all the way through Halo: Reach.
-
Call of duty is rated M, and its flooded with kids like this.

The biggest issue is that developers will do whatever gets the most people to buy it. This also bleeds over into movies. Thus the reason we've had so many crap superhero/comic based movies. But they know the die hard fans will pay money for anything new that adds to their favorite things. They don't care that leaving blood and gore out of games might protect the mind of an innocent child, only that if it has a teen or pg rating they will have more people buy, play, or watch it. As for games they could just do like some games have done in the past and add the option for game play to be kid friendly or gore heavy at the game start up. But that would also require parents to do their job and be aware of what their kids are watching and playing.

You can have a good story and dark themes in a T-rated game, it all depends on the ability of the writers. I remember battlefront II having one of my favorite stories in a star wars game. Also remember wing commander prophecy having torture, human disection, the threat of being captured by the enemy, and an imminent danger looming as a consequence of failure. I personally enjoyed the themes of unity and betrayal in ace combat 5, though I'm sure others may disagree with me on that one. All with a T-rating. What I see a lot of people looking for when they ask for an M-rating is fan-service in claim of a better story. Usually in the form of blood, swearing, and nudity. The first point makes sense: blood allows for more in-depth depictions of violence. It let's you get a better picture of an event when exploring areas left standing in their aftermath. Seeing trails of people who frantically tried to escape, pools leaking out from closet and container doors as result failed attempts to hide, piles of bodies left behind to rot... all having an impact to show the ruthless, inhuman nature of your enemies. ... but that's not what people usually mean when making this request. They want more instant visuals from their actions, like chainsawing an enemy in gears of war and dismembering enemies in dead space. What these people fail to understand is that these depictions fit into the nature of the games they're shown in. They work because they serve a purpose and are the result of the game's mechanics. If destiny were to have a more graphic depiction of violence, the only form that would really work is disintegration. This fits into the established powers of destiny and doesn't go against the established explanations for the existing headshot animations. As for swearing, there is again a smart way to implement it into a game. All of the games mentioned in my second paragraph contain swearing, yet hold a T-rating. Despite what many think, meaningful conversation can exist without swears being pushed in for "realism." In fact, given the established academic, prophetic, and "noble" nature of a majority of destiny's main characters, it would go against their character to swear. The player's character is a different story though, but not call for swearing to be a constant in the game. It just doesn't fit into destiny in general. Nudity is an altogether different animal. Yes, this can easily exist in destiny, especially with respect to the hive, which could easily show both male and female nudity. Maybe even as scenes of romance involving your character or npc's. But is it necessary? Will it add depth to the game? The story? Or will it just be fan service? While it can exist in destiny, there needs to be a solid reason as to why it's there. You can't just throw in nudity because you want to. I like the Metro games, it tells an interesting story with several dark themes through several mediums. The lap dance and top malfunction during the sudden romance scenes do not add to this story, they kind of distract you from it. Story needs to be the main focus of destiny 2. If these "mature" elements are used in a way that makes the story better, great. But forcing them in to give the game a higher rating will offer destiny about as much improvement as it did for Duke Nukem Forever.
-
In Australia it is M.
-
It's the other way around. They should have made the game darker and more mature, warranting the M rating.
-
So the gist is nerf fusions?
-
If the dev's vision for the franchise happens to come out as T, it's fine. If the devs are forced to abide by a T rating despite the vision they have for the game, it's not. There's really no good way to tell which way it falls for destiny
-
You can blame that T rating for the shitty community as well. It is by far the worst in gaming.

Edited by Swiftlock: 4/22/2017 7:12:38 PMActivision is a business trying to sell a product. When you want to sell a product, you want to reach the widest audience you can. Bloody, mature games without huge fanbases just don't sell as much as games that young people and teenagers can also play. Safe to say that we won't see an M-Rated Destiny anytime soon.
-
If destiny was M rated, we could see a lot more expansion in the story. The grimoire is actually pretty gruesome, with Guardians being impaled on Knights blades, or having their light slowly torn from their body like flesh and being devoured, while alive - and all while Eris was watching. This game has potential for an awesome story.
-
Gory headshots. Come on man, Black Spindle is like the Battle Rifle from Robocop. You'd be splattered with a bodyshot kill. State of the art, bang-bang. Shoot a vandal's head off and his friend gets freaked, because he's covered in his goo and changes behavior. Gibbing ragdolls, not invincible floppy ragdolls. Golgoroth picks you up and munches limbs. Laser weapons kills can slice you up. Sleeper SIMulant could slice you neatly before it's energy consumes you. Rocket launchers spread you around the map. At the very least, some red clouding for humans, whatever colour for Awoken (also red?) and some sparks for exo armour? And of course, using swords causes dismemberments of enemies and also cuts through multiples in one slash.
-
I agree, being rated M could really help Destiny's story. Having some dark cutscenes of Eris's team being ripped apart by the hive would have really made us hate crota more. Having some more adult jokes from cayde 6 would be great too (if you think about it, this adult human who was turned into an exo, would not be censoring himself when he's talking to an adult guardian). Even having the fallen swear occasionally like the Covenant does in Halo would be great. Being rate T for teen just waters down the idea of a gruesome space war so it's kid friendly.
-
Yes because it's always easy to convince a company to make less money. lol :)
-
Getting a teen rating gets a bigger audience to play the game. More people = more money. Much like PG-13 gets more people in theaters. Why do you think most horror movies are rated PG-13 and then they release unrated version on DVD. You don't need blood gore and swearing to tell a story.
-
Lol. We don't need to make something more dark and gory for it to be good. This game can do fine on a T rating, but Halo needed an M for what the developers wanted. It is rated T because that is the kind of game it is going to be.
-
I have to admit: given the title, I noped out when I saw the header "Moving On to the Meat." Phrasing.
-
Edited by Tim vdB3: 4/23/2017 3:34:51 PMThe only reason halo was rated for mature was because of blood. Remove that and you have a T rating. An M rating doesn't stop kids and popular games like CoD or GTA have proven that.
-
But dude, halo shouldn't have been rated M. It was barely even that compared to the rest of the games in the category. I agree I'd like to see a more detailed story, but the mature rating isn't the problem.
-
Maybe play halo then? Destiny is a MMO at heart If you don't like this genre please leave it for those of us that do.
-
A rating really has nothing to do with what you stated. Sounds to me like destiny just wasn't your game, so go play mass effect or start working on designing a game perfect to your liking and see how many people don't agree with your views. It is impossible to completely please a crowd as large a destiny's player base. Sure, there are things I don't agree with on here but that doesn't mean I hate the game or cause me to boycott future titles. Either adapt or move on. There are much better ways to go about this than blaming a rating and throwing a temper tantrum targeting the youth. On a side not i didn't even realize destiny was teen until a couple of months after release. I remember patrolling mars getting head shots on cabal and realized I wasn't actually blowing their heads off, just popping their little space bear helmets.
-
-
I want the gears of war head shot animation
-
I played Halo 1 and 2 only because my cousin owned an Xbox. My heart will always be with Killzone. I want to see stats on that learning curve because it is the easiest thing ever. Not even a curve, more like a straight line. Can you sprint? Good Glide? Good Aim? Good Can you be half way intelligent? If so, you Gucci.
