Let's start with a little history...
Back in 2010, my childhood franchise ended (Bionicle). Somehow I came across a video that was a music montage of Bionicle ads and Halo 3 Cutscenes. I did some more research on Halo and that's when I was sold.
Reach and ODST were the first games I got, and for the next 4 years I worked through the Halo train, picking up every game I could and tuning to what Bungie was going to do next now that they ended with Reach.
Here comes Destiny... here we go...
Vanilla - I honestly wasn't around much for Vanilla. I played for a month and a half, doing all the strikes and making sure I was making progress, but then I went off and on for two months. This is because of some social issues. Anyway, I never experienced the REIGN OF THE VEX or the GREAT NERF OF THE MYTHOCLAST. What I do know is that the story wasn't very focused, but I still had fun playing and hoped there was more.
The Dark Below - I didn't know this came out until I watched a Death Battle episode, believe it or not, and then bought it the next day. The story was a little short imo, but the new PvP content and the Urn of Sacrifice quest got me hooked for a bit... then I remembered the raids.
It wasn't till early March that I got a mic and could finally start raiding... of course starting with VoG. My it was the most confusing and best experience I've ever had. I swear a raid that only took 2 hours apparently took 4 according to my clock. Time flies in the Vault.
Any-who I did that till I was ready to face Crota and work on that LL32... by god the grind was real... though somehow I remember it being less annoying than it was for AoT... whatever. Between the hype for House of Wolves and the grind I made it to LL32 the week before the new DLC.

House of Wolves - What started out as a hype-filled playthrough would later hit me as the most important expansion, both personally* and relevancy-wise (the latter up until Age of Triumph).
I was supposed to be early for the Hunt, but the servers went out so... I ended up being a couple hours late. Skolas (QR) and Taniks were fun to kill and I was hyped to get my fingertips on the surface of those Etheric Lights. Thanks to Trials and a decent group of PvP-ers I was able to get to LL34 in the first week... I had no other characters at the time.
As for Skolas Revenge... oh boy I love getting kicked just because I didn't have a G-horn...
I couldn't do it until the burns were removed because A - Arc Burn was a pain in the ass, B - Not enough Void weapons, and C - No G-horn or Black Hammer. I did do it eventually, which continued my career as "the guy who knows things" (thanks Qodron Pre-Nerf for kick-starting that).
It was also at this time where I became heavily invested into the lore, trying to figure out everything... and oh boy I was not prepared/prepared for the series of events that came next...
The Taken King - I heard whispers... words like "Taken" and "King" being passed around... then I heard a new word, "Oryx". A week before the E3 Reveal, I heard the premise of the Taken King... Oryx was coming with an army of "Taken". Two days later I had a dream. This was the first of 3 dreams relating to Destiny. I saw Oryx. He was MASSIVE and all red and brownish with horns and wings. It was insane, man. I didn't know that my mind could wander that far with little info and knowledge that he was Crota's dad.
Come the E3 reveal... and... ORYX LOOKED EXACTLY THE SAME I MEAN WHAT THE ACTUAL -blam!-. Am I some sort of Oracle?! That aside, the hype was REAL! I was so excited to fight Oryx and, as Luke Smith said, "Wear his ass like a hat" (couldn't do that until AoT with the Titan though).
When the Expansion actually came out, I was ready. I jumped up at 5:20 and play as much as I could. It was glorious! Then King's Fall came. After I saw Oryx flee I said to myself, "I am going to solo the -blam!- out of raid Oryx". I sat there, watching the first fireteam complete the Daughters fight. I thought about the fight with Oryx, when I saw him... HE WAS HUGE! I gave up on the solo dream and was actually terrified.
Despite my hatred for King's Fall, it does have one of the most cinematic and epic boss fights I've played through. I was so focused on PvE that I nearly forgot PvP... I regret even thinking about jumping into PvP...

April Update - Decent story, odd choices for nerfs, fun overall fighting Bubble-boy Malok and the Takennettes.
Rise of Iron - More hype came because... because Bungie one ups it everytime. I started to resent the Hive more and more and it was a GODSEND when I heard Fallen were going to be the main focus of this Expansion. The armor had me hyped and the story had me hyped, even if I had to give up my reserve D2 hype for it.
I enjoyed the story enough and the location was nice to revisit. The raid was fun and Aksis became one of my favorite bosses (cuz he looks cool and the music is kickass). The raid armor is awesome and I believe for expansion-level content, the Live Team did good.
Festival of the Lost, SRL, and the Dawning (oh and Crimson Days) - FotL was enjoyable in Year 2, but not so much in Year 3... please don't rely on Microtransactions so much Bungie.
SRL... I mean... it was enjoyable at first... but then you removed the Aphix Invasive Hydras from Infinite Descent. Why'd you have to put the only AI Hydras in the game besides the Ultra Hydra and the Conductive Mind down?
The Dawning... by god the grind was real just for a full set of that armor, I am so glad you kept them around longer than the actual event.
Crimson Days was hilarious. It was just a collection of Suicide Couples over and over just for some precious loot... I admit I participated in it too. I got the Crimson Shell at 320 so no raging at Bungie here.
Age of Triumph - I like it overall. I do think that the challenges in WotM and KF need "challenge failed" markers though just in case. Oh and UP THE ARMOR DROP RATE PLEASE!! Thanks.

All-in-all - I like Destiny. I enjoy it very much. I like the armor, the weapons (when they don't suck... like Thorn), the abilities, etc. The lore is very engaging and informational (put a kiosk in D2 so we can read that in-game pls). The enemies are diverse (thanks Taken) and quests alone will put you in for week or more. While I do think PvP is the worst aspect it does have its moments. I had fun playing with other people and hope to experience this again in D2.
So, for all of you Vault Raiders, God-slayers, Hive Banes, and Legends out there, I thank you for three years of Hell, Peace, and honestly some pretty sick boss fights. Let's take the fight against McDonald's State Manager Gary and his lawyers for destroying all of that. GARY MUST PAY!!
TL:DR - I enjoy playing Destiny.
*
Some girl I liked and moved away on Dec 16 (1991) 2016. Let's just say I refuse to take the House of Wolves bond off now.
Does this wreak of 16 year old or just me? Either way nice story.
-
My funniest memory was seeing the world first stream for KF- they're all looking at their Daughters loot in menus, and someone triggers the Oryx fight- 'oh' 'what?' everyone comes out of menu 'AAH'

Everything. Okay! I’ll talk! In third grade, I cheated on my history exam. In fourth grade, I stole my uncle Max’s toupee and I glued it on my face when I was Moses in my Hebrew School play. In fifth grade, I knocked my sister Edie down the stairs and I blamed it on the dog… when my mom sent me to the summer camp for fat kids and then they served lunch I got nuts and I pigged out and they kicked me out… but the worst thing I ever done – I mixed a pot of fake puke at home and then I went to this movie theater, hid the puke in my jacket, climbed up to the balcony and then, t-t-then, I made a noise like this: hua-hua-hua-huaaaaaaa – and then I dumped it over the side, all over the people in the audience. And then, this was horrible, all the people started getting sick and throwing up all over each other. I never felt so bad in my entire life.

Lol. Wanna see my journey of coming out of the closet? It's a doozy.

Edited by Cam: 4/22/2017 3:44:33 PMOh my god I still have all my bionicles over 1000 dollars to be exact. My child hood was that and I even had the og game for ps2 (one of the first games I ever played besides super Mario sunshine back when I was 7) I'm gonna be selling all the nostalgia soon though 😥 My collection: RIP (2003-2008)

Congratulations. You like a thing.

Cool story bro
-
I beat Skolas during the first week when it was Solar burn. Didn't bother for Arc burn. And thanks to a void Longbow I was able to snipe him out quick during void burn. Then after the burns went away it was much more enjoyable. You didn't need to beat him in 60 seconds.

I'm much the same way man. But I rarely did raids. I dont have that many friends to play destiny with. I only have maybe 2 people I regularly play destiny with. But all in all, I feel like destiny has lost its....spark. That spark of the curiosity, of the unknown. Of what's out there in Venus, or saturns rings.
