  • I was thinking about what RWG said about the ammo economy post Nerf last night when I was doing a perfected offering in the Forge and I ran out of all ammo halfway through and end up failing because no enemies were dropping ammo.

    My second point was regarding the raids and why they can be annoying/boring/frustrating Here’s my thing about raid, bosses and challenge modes. I love raiding, I think that any game that enforces co operative play is absolutely amazing. You can say there is co op is in other shooters, but they don’t really have you communicating as well to get the job done and Destiny does that to a high degree. With the raid my favourite parts of them to play with my clan are moments outside of boss fights. Templar’s Well Oracles, Crota’s Pit and Bridge, Oryx totems and Aksis Siege engine. The reason for this is that they are mechanical based but allow more freedom in how you go about them but still need people talking to each other at all times. “Oracle stairs” “Okay moving to next lamp” “Sword bearer out, bridge built” “Switching left, Witch is gonna be on top right” All that good stuff. It makes the whole play more involved to the point where you wipe because someone might not be talking and just think “I got this” when that should never be a thing. The bosses are just straight up mechanics, they never change…. Well except when Crota comes into the room and F’s your day. Once you’ve done it once (really well) you’ve done it a hundred times, and if you aren’t someone who is chasing all the loot, it gets super boring. The challenge modes, just take those factors and enhances them. If you have a set raid team week in week out this is not a problem, however it is still very boring and that’s the problem I have in playing with people who have done it before. I’m definitely playing for the challenge and not particularly the loot which is what makes Sherpa'ing rewarding. I chase a piece of loot when I think it will make something more fun or easier to handle for the group. For instance I never picked up Touch of Malice until I was bored because not only was it not needed for Oryx, other loadouts make the encounter much easier. Outside of that I’m not going to run a raid three times a week on each character because it’s tedious and makes the game boring. This is why my favourite boss encounter was always Skolas. That dude was no joke. He was organic not mechanical. Sure the idea of taking his initial shield down is mechanical but what if he teleports next to you and ground stomps. What if one of you is taken out on the “switch location run”. What if someone isn’t on point with calling out “the taint”….. gotta get rid of that taint people. What if wire rifle dudes go crazy because you popped a bubble. What if you Gjally yourself right before downing him. What if A then C show up as mine locations but you didn’t time your switch correctly. What if lightswitch….. ahh lightswitch how I miss you. There were so many things to handle in that encounter and it wasn’t always the same. It was the one time that it was so cool to be in a group with 1 warlock, 1 hunter and 1 titan. I really hope Bungie invest in more battles like that where the boss is organic and not just waiting for the conveniently placed mechanic, which when you think about it is provided by the boss, to help you kill him????? I mean why didn’t Crota just tell the Swordbearer to take the night off. Why didn’t Aetheon just teleport 6 guardians, why doesn’t Oryx just not provide an aura able to steal the brand. Why the hell does Aksis give us more power???

    • Good Podcast guys. [b][i][u]Stickies[/u][/i][/b] Ugh this is a difficult subject for me. Ok first and for most there is absolutely an increased number of deaths I've taken to stickies since the special economy changes (which is the fn culprit of this issue). Trials is a disaster to the point I have refused to run it based on this mostly. I also deal with it in every fn game mode in crucible, whether it be 6s, 3s, or Rumble, the results are the same everywhere. Stickies are a problem. With that being said, as much as it pains me to say it, because I loathe the bs deaths that these things cause, they are not needing a nerf. Players gravitated towards them because of the special changes, just like players gravitate every fn time something gets nerfed, because we are human and we adapt to the most efficient tools to do the job, in this case stickies replaced fusion rifles and shotguns (and snipers for those amazing at tossing these things) within the meta. The only fix to return them to normal levels at this point is to return the special economy back to pre patch levels (shotties too, but one can only dream) Until then, I believe most of my crucible days are probably over. I'm just tired of these grenades and the bs deaths that I've been dealing with because of them. Nothing else has made me rage more than these fn grenades.

      • Ah, RWG brings the point home... once you start raiding again you realize what nerfing guns has done. I've been going round and round with a fellow in another thread regarding the impact of PvP inspired nerfs. The gist of his point is it's PvE causing the nerfs. Really silly stuff. He even went so far as to say the sniper nerfs were due to PvE, and denied a sniper meta ever existed in PvP. I guess you guys talking about Icebreaker made me think of that. Anyway, while the raids are fun, there has still been something lost because of PvP nerfs.

        Lost 20 in a row? Damn, I know that pain oh so well. Edit: sols, "generous as frick"or heck is what they kept saying. Wish there were raid quest with steps you have to complete to get gear and weapons, or... A book or an actual smart rng.

        • I enjoyed the podcast alot this week. But i gave up on Iron Banana last week, between the endless loss streaks and LL drops it wasn't worth my time when I'm 390 and the gear dropping fir me *is* 390 and several 391. I get better numbers on vendor pkgs and AF with none of the frustration.

            Red wing I'm surprised that your not angry about getting the same adept weapon 4 times. I was, we are surrposed to have a smart loot system and it's not smart. Iron banner is always like that, you can have a good hour or a bad hour. I did all my characters solo this week, had a few bad game also had a few great games. It really does depend on who you get dropped in with and I do hate the afk and the lagging players. I made a few comebacks and took on a whole team by myself several times. Even killed the whole team within the first 2 minutes by myself on point b and I was not cheating. Cleverly paced grenades gets them all the time. It was the same but the mm was a bit faster. I just wish that reporting someone would actually work, if you've been reporting straight every 5 minutes for 3 games they should be kicked even if in a fire-team, but nope still in and still lagging. Sniper just makes the game too easy, it's to quick and too easy to use. theirs no stay or movement penalties. If they nerf scope time add stay when moving, it would make the game harder and move enjoyable. Problem is destiny wants to be both. It wants to be competitive in pvp and be Loot based in pve. they want both the Rock Paper Scissors and yet still have balance. I just hope they improve the severs maybe go dictated. Stop allowing fire-teams in pvp if your doing connection based mm. And make so when iron banner is on that we can still do the raid without it gilitching more just cause iron banner is on. I agree with you redwing I don't like it ethier we shouldn't be force to use sidearms just cause they have ammo on death. Grenades in iron banner, where has been a lot of players using fusion grenades. they even go out of there way to use them and just use them over and over again. The problem with grenades nerf is that they want Rock Paper Scissors game play yet only have a few grenades which can out right kill all the rest just do 70% damage, and I think all grenades should be equal etheir make them all one hit kill or make them all do 70% damage. their shouldn't be ones in between, your forcing people to play classes which have one shot kill grenades, just so they don't If to throw two and I think that's wrong. I've been seeing a lot more grenade being used now than ever before and sometimes I go ages without seeing grenades other than stickies being used. Even I think about using guns which reduce your grenade cool down just so you can use more grenades. Lighting grenades have already been nerfed their pulse fire rate has been slowed down. I agree with you redwing I used to be known as the post-mortem king with grenade kills, I still am by some of my clan mates and that is cause I use them to kill a lot when I was a hunter. I hate that they nerf trip mines I used to love them and I think all grenades should be nerfed to that level, just to make it fair and to make it so you have to pick up after them, clearly grenades were never meant to kill people with them on this game. I agree with you redwing it's a grenade and it should kill you not do 70% damage and allow them to still kill you. That is why trails players should never get to do a patch cause they do not understand what destiny is about. I have never played halo other than the occasional time I went over to my friends house to play it so I've only ever done about 6 hours on halo before destiny so I ordered destiny purely cause of how good it sounded and I loved the beta so much i couldn't wait to get started in it. Souls while I agree with you on nerfing fusion next is lighting they have already nerf trip mines was that fair? They nerf nothing manclicalls was that fair? They have already nerf every other grenade to the point where it does not kill where you if to pick up after it and that's not fair I don't want to If pick up after my grenades I don't want to be choosing a class just cause they have killer grenades. I feel for you on the loot I'm the same red wing I'm waiting for the armour and still not having the right rolls seems like knuckles only works on one challenge and you only get one extra drop so it not raining loot and even gives the same things over and over again on my third corrective measure and my 4 fate bringer adept. I would like more loot I think everyone would like more loot. I hope in destiny 2 there will be placement rewards in pvp cause I hate doing all the work winning the match and seeing a lengendry go to last place. Vog is still my favourite cause a the graphics and the fact that is was so new never been done before in a video game feel and I just love it all yes some of the challenges are like and I'm going to hate it this week when my raid team is going to be like that. This week is aksis challenge and I'll be saying no warlocks there to slow this is where you stand this is where you must be looking etc and we will be wiping a lot cause if you miss one teleport that's it you if to start the challenge again and that is so silly, I hate challenge like that. croata challenge easy, golth challenge easy, but that thing is not easy any mistakes and you start again. Favourite part was multiple times being the one man army and killing 5 to 7 people while defending a control point or while defending heavy on hunter and Titan .

            • Great listen as always. I feel as though I'm not incredibly late to finishing the cast so I'll reply on some topics. A bit long in the tooth so I'll reply seperately. Here’s my thing regarding the grenades and I can’t stress how much this is just my opinion and not how things should go. Apart from an initial stint in the original Modern Warfare, this is the first game I’ve played PvP in for a prolonged time. I never was very good at PvP but I was persistent, watched training videos on YouTube and saw my skills growing and growing. I never even knew about an overall K/D until half way through year two and always just played crucible for fun in between PvE content. I have been frustrated by several of the metas for a few reasons but I’d say overall is because it never really promoted my way of play (That's not the way I play so you guys shouldn't have fun doing it). Stupid I know, but my problem, I'd never actually say that. I definitely think there has been a growth in sticky’s and I will tell you why it’s clear. Before the last update, the grenade that annoyed me was skip grenades. Not because they were op, but because every hunter in the solar system was running them with Shinobu’s vow, so time in the crucible was mostly spent running from them rather than dodging bullets. For an extreme tracking grenade those things definitely did way to much damage and should have had damage numbers of a Swarm grenade instead. Anyway I don’t see them anymore or at least not as much, all I see now are sticky’s of every variety. I resent what RWG said about “If you come around the corner and someone throws a sticky grenade then you’re dead”. Sure I’d be fine with that if your discipline build didn’t mean you get a grenade back every 25 seconds. I’ll detail my Guardian grenade builds in a separate post if anyone cares but just know for the biggest grenade build I have it is Warlock wearing Sunbreakers, using Tlaloc and a Fusion rifle with either Grenadier or Army of One. Hell even the Heavy (Baron’s Ambition) has Grenadier). For that reason to increase my grenade stock, I’m shooting and killing people, not just waiting 25 seconds to throw another “incredibly sticky to the point of symbiosis” grenade. Skill points = zero. Again I’d be alright if the grenades weren’t a one hit kill. Which is another thing you guys said. Again I disagree with this. Only stick grenades and perfectly placed incendiary grenades are one hit kills, though in the latter they can be countered by Memory of Silimar. Where is my artefact that reduces the damage from sticky grenades by 50%? Like I said, these are the grenades I find annoying. Not because they are OP per say, but more because 90% of guardians are now using them. It makes it a frustrating, not fun experience. PS. Hoof Hearted is an excellent name 

            • Here's another thought... When AoT was announced, there was discussion regarding loot drops. I fell on the side of, if they don't drop the stuff fairly quickly it's all moot. September will be here before we know it. I had a strong opposition to that point - "End game content SHOULD be rare!" Well, now it is. The chokepoint this time is not guns but armor and shaders. I promise you this... the odds a large number of people collect everything out of the raids is slim indeed...

              • Where is all the armor? The armor with ornaments is the only reason to do the remastered raids. Why would they make it rain armor pieces so I can get what I want in 2 or 3 runs then never do them again because the exotic burn primaries don't justify their slot and are a waste of my inventory space. Whats going on with armor drops is working as intended. The new WoTM weapons will prolly be the shit though they're the only ones I was looking forward to.

              • Ive been too busy to listen in on this one. But it appears the discussion is grenades. The lag in this game creates a lot if wierd situations. Often sicky nades look like the curve a whole 90 degrees when you could have sworn you just dodged. I dont try to blame stickies on being op becuase i know lag has a lot to do with being very difficult to avoid. Often because it takes the game a while to register your movement. [b]I play on two tv's sometimes with my brother, and often when i fire on my screen, it takes almost .5 seconds to .3 seconds for me to fire on his. In a situation where you are jumping to avoid a grenade, and with the speed of the game, there is a big problwm of having to pretty much see it coming before hand to jump so early, lag does not leave you tsgged anyways.[/b] They arent exactly the easiest to hit in a players hand so they dont always annoy me. All the changes to special ammo and the numerous nerfs have put a once meh used grenade at the top of the food chain, and im expecting bunige to just go with the typical nerf hammer and it sucks Im not sure if you spoke on the other grenades, but yea. Vf needs a buff in pvp.

              • You cannot honestly compare Halo stickies to Destiny stickies though. There was ZERO tracking in Halo, you actually had to lead players and earn those sticks. I'm typically a voidwalker, but if I run into a sticky lobby I'll switch to double fusion and spam them as well. It feels extremely cheap, sticking someone and ducking back behind a corner. But it's the only way to counter, or at least trade, against a team of sticky players. I do have an issue with the generous tracking on stickies. I do have an issue with getting the drop on a sniper, putting two consecutive headshots on them with a scout, and them still being able to snipe me somehow. I believe snipers do too much damage to the body, promoting the body shot + primary cleanup BS. I do have an issue with the slow ttk on primaries. And I disagree with how special ammo was handled. I think snipers, shotties and fusions shouldn't be emptied on death. They should spawn with 1, maybe two bullets, just to get you going. I can't tell you how many times I've respawned, having someone rushing at me already, and not being able to defend myself right away.

                  Grenades aren't the problem it the inconsistency caused by Bungies poor choice in p2p connection. I can toss a scatter grenade hit someone in the face with it and it barely scratches them.....last night in the iron banner my brother and I who are both 400 and running maximum armor were killed by a single hail marry scatter grenade. Our opponent tossed it through a door way and we were both at full health and shield capping a control point. Stickies are another sore spot, warlock and Titan stickies both void and fusion are an almost guaranteed one shot.....the hunter sticky is less effective than a popcorn fart....... If one class has one thing that it a one hit/shot/stick then the same thing on other classes should also do the same. A sunsinger in radiance can take a hammer to the face and turn around and melee kill a hammer throwing titan which should take two melees

                    Even people on my friend list who play this game, don't even play with me anymore. I feel like I end up playing solo most of the time. Maybe I am just an asshole and people don't like me. I am just finishing my book. My issue with this game is Destiny players are all out for themselves. People will always ask you if you want to do what they want, but when you ask for help with something. They are never around. Every time I find friends to play with, they end up quitting or doing their own thing. So I am just going to finish my book and move on to other games till Destiny 2. I find the most reliable way to find players is to play in LFG because when I raid with my friends, some of them are not very good. I am pretty average myself so I tend to not be able to carry the raid. I am good player, but I am not a leader, and my friends want me to always lead a raid, but I am not comfortable with it. I end up finding people who can lead but raiding isn't even my thing anymore. Mostly I am just playing Crucible. I feel like I am not getting better at this game, after I hit 1KD, which took me a while, now I am running into much tougher players so I am just dying 1/2 the time, and feel like I am not getting better but worse. I have good games on and off, but lately just been downhill. And it feels like every time I try to switch to a weapon that I enjoy, I will get owned, so I have to switch back to Meta weapons like Auto fire scouts with Full Auto. And every time I switch to something else I get pwnt. I think the people who are playing Crucible now are just so damn good, that its hard to get into it. I can see a new player playing this game and not really being able to get into it, because of how hardcore this game has become. I feel like Bungie should do something for noobs and somehow separate them and pros and average players using leagues or something in Destiny 2. And if people want to play in lower leagues they should let them switch. I feel like this game is just a huge experiment, and I am the mouse.

                    • Just on the topic of pvp, in the podcast you stated that bungie has to decide what kind of pvp they want in their game. Which to my knowledge they have stated pvp isn't meant to be mlg competitive and made it that way, those who have been pushing for destiny pvp to move more towards a competitive pvp is us the community. What bungie really need to do is state this how thing are going to be in pve/pvp and that they love to have us on the ride but if you don't like it than the game isn't for you. Now I'm not saying we can't voice our concerns to them but we don't have the right to tell them to change their game design because we don't like how it plays. Game developers put stupid amount of time and money into their game and to have someone them it wrong because it doesn't suit their play style is stupid. I've personally accepted all changes even if I don't agree with them, it bungie game they can do what they like. Just as I live my life the way I want (with in laws of society). To the stickies matter I don't believe them to op like so many claim and I think most streamers feel same, what is frustrating is have a guy dead to rights and only to lose the fight because he throw a sticky while I back around a corner and it follows me. I might be one of the few who finally give up on whining and complaining and accepted that this game pvp never meet all my requirements but I enjoy it simply because of the abilities and gun play.

                      • Said it since day one - Skill less grenades need a rework across the board. That includes massive tracking aim assisted sticks. One hit kill is FINE. But aim assist on so many stickies is crazy. No I don't stand by axioms, Firebolts ect -

                              • great listen again. on terms of the IB lag I have to say its better for me since the shift. with sbmm i was playing japan, Oz, South Africa, Canada, both US coasts, Mexico and Brazil. (I have a netduma so I know who is in the lobby). since the more cbmm shift this time around I play between 9-11 people from europe. occasionally there is a person from South Africa, japan, oz or the US coasts in, but thats like 1 in 5 games an never more than 2 at a time. there is still lag. one game in 20 is unplayable usually when there is a 6 person group with the usual 2 flat red bars or where they have one person in japan and one from the US and 10 in europe. everything goes haywire then. But thats compared to 3 out of 5 games with sbmm being unplayable. there seems to be a ban on players from Mexico and Brazil which I honestly have to say I dont mind. the ping when me in Northern England when I play against someone in Brazil or Mexico you may as well drop your pad and go make a snack. Odd that its made it worse for you guys. Its really made a positive change for me and a lot I know who play in europe. It hasnt cured the problem but its lessened it to a manageable level.
